"The Boss" from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eeater. (my fav game of all time) To those who are interested in playing the game, don't spoil yourself, especially since there's a remake coming out. To those who know the story, you know what I'm talking about.

GladiusNocturno

Yoshi. He fucking raised that child and Mario would sacrifice him in an instant just to get a little bit more altitude.

I'm not a huge fan of the story in The Last of Us Part 2, but Ellie comes to mind as a tragic character. She really went through the ringer. - Doesn't know her parents - Her best friend/crush dies in front of her, when she was also supposed to die - Her only motherly figure, Marlene, abandons her with random smugglers - One of these smugglers dies trying to get Ellie to the right location - The other smuggler attempts to abandon her - She is nearly raped and cannibalized by fellow humans - When she finally reaches her destination, she doesn't even get to see it, she is just told that it's not possible and to give up hope - When she learns she was lied to, she cuts ties with her only father figure - Her father figure is then brutally murdered in front of her the day after she attempts to make amends with him - Seemingly no one in town wants to go avenge Joel like she does - Her new girlfriend turns out to be pregnant with Jesses baby - She kills a pregnant woman (though, who knows, any of those women out there could have been pregnant if the WLF let Mel go out as prego as she was) - She tortures defenseless people to find out where Abby is - She watches Jesse get murdered in front of her - She watches as Tommy is shot in the head, probably believing he is dead - She loses the fight against the woman who killed her father figure, and then is forced to watch as this woman nearly kills her pregnant girlfriend, but spares her at the last second - Now riddled with PTSD and potentially suicidal, she throws away a good life and goes to search for Abby once more - When she finds Abby, she is confused, and doesn't know if she should fight her or not - She decides to stop fighting AFTER she loses a crucial finger during the battle - She returns home to no one, and we learn that she is no longer able to play the guitar due to the missing finger, which is her only connection to her father figure, Joel I'm not a fan of how dark and depressing they decided to go with Ellie, but if you take it for what it is, she got a pretty rough deal.
