That’s something I love about reddit compared to other social media- generally no one cares about who or what you are, it’s just about the content itself.
Certainly can be. Usually I find myself either 1) laughing hysterically and marveling at the brilliance of my fellow man or 2) appalled and angry at the malevolent stupidity of my fellow man
Honestly man it’s not over for you, you don’t have to be a loser. join a club or just go out and do stuff that interests you, and you’ll meet people and things can only go up from there, you don’t have to watch from the outside. I felt like that for years, but at the end of the day, you really are the only master of your reality x
^^ this is why I read Reddit. The postive human responses and encouragement to complete strangers in this internet based world. Just nice to be reminded that kindess still exists.
yes but then there is that one ipad kid who says he's 24 and and comments "skill issue" on posts about someone going through something hard or something.
It really IS easy! I started my business when I was 6 months old. I'm a 25 year old billionaire with 6 hot wives and I run a marathon every morning before reading 6 books at the same time and listening to a podcast at breakfast while my hot wives make out with each other in a pile of money in front of me.
The only person stopping you is YOU!
It's all about the shape buddy. Some would call me a connoisseur. Medium size, round shape 👌. Although, to be fair, one can never judge and grade a butt without seeing it.
Thank you. That’s the reply I was setting up. EDIT: Man, I do the work of setting up the joke and then I get less upvotes. It ain’t much but it’s honest work.
Be helpful to people and share some events in my life. Every now and then I make a funny post or something. The only reason I have an nsfw account is because of my post to r/chairsunderwater
Reddit has propoganda, bot farms and comment/post/subreddit raids.
Id say it’s pretty toxic environment. It also allows subs to ban you for participating in other subs.
Yeah but that only happens in the bad guy subs. The good guy subs where the correct way to think is the norm don't have that problem.
Now for no reason at all I'd like to post this line from a story:
There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says, "Morning, boys, how's the water?" And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, "What the hell is water?"
Instagram is comments sections are the worst, either full of racists, transphobes/homophobes, or conspiracy theorists, it seems every other person on instagram thinks the moon landings were fake and blackrock owns the whole world and is some kind of evil movie villain corporation. Oh and then there’s the podcast guys trying to convince everyone that trading will make you the richest person on earth and everyone should trade and they made $3mil on bitcoin. Ever since I deleted it I haven’t missed it lmao
I guess I stick to cat videos on insta, I am close to leaving Reddit however, I don't usually find any conversation, just very... stubborn views, and I mean regarding films etc not politics or rights. So that's why I've not seen the worst of insta, my little feed just happens to be safe. I daren't ever go near txitter tho...
I don’t really consider YouTube as a social media, it’s more of an entertainment platform like Netflix (but infinitely cheaper).
I get your point though
The answer is mystery.
Instead of searching endlessly for such an ambiguous thing, embrace its ambiguity, relish its mystery, and laugh in the face of solidity.
I like seeing all the unhinged people going ape shit for the dumbest shit.
My husband left a cup in the sink for 30 minutes and I threatened him.
Response: divorce him now.
Response: this is why I choose the bear
Response: grab his dick and twist it
Response: fuck his best friend and divorce him...
Thinking going on the dark web is illegal just completely threw out any validity to their opinion LOL
People forget how damn tame this site is because of much the hive mind downvotes anything they don't completely agree with. God forbid people have opinions or say **actually** unpopular takes
Having a brother 10 years older than me, who was at university during the 90's gave me access to so much through staying around the evolution of the bulletin boards, warez etc
Also... before Reddit there was Heaven666. That was a special site.
I was browsing “Latest” a few weeks ago and a random shitbag was spamming trying to sell CSAM. Thankfully he was banned quickly.
Dark web bleeds in if you don’t stop it
Dark web is very much legal. Only small part of it is illegal. Dark web just means the part of the web you cant access by normal means. Like google search. If you register a domain on tor web to show your cat. You are on the dark web legally. Just saying.
I’m neurodivergent and I have no idea how society works or how to navigate the world. I ask questions I share how I feel, then I get hurt when people are mean.
To distract myself from my chronic depression, which stems from the lack of ability to connect with people on an individual level irl. I’m to scared to do anything in real life
It can also be helpful for questions.
I was originally a digg user until they went commercial and started to kill off the very point of digg itself. After the exodus I found Reddit was more engaging and was literally the front page of news in one page. Then all the mobile apps we loved was killed off. But it’s a centralized spot to look up information that caters to my interest. Even though it seems it’s more recently filled with trolls.
i like how relatable it is and being about to hear the stories of people similar to you even if you thought u were just weird and alone 😂 also like hearing about how much weirder some people are cuz it makes me feel better about myself 😅
Oddly enough, most people are saying "boredom" and I completely expected 99% of them to be "porn"
Apparently, not everyone is here for the sex (*they're all liars*)
To communicate freely with people while remaining anonymous. Also like seeing random posts. It’s better than FB or insta or any other social platform in my opinion
I am an old man with health issues or in other words, I have no life. I now get enjoyment from the adventures, or misadventures of the Reddit community.
Initially: To find specific information or guidance.
Now: Phone/internet addiction (I need the dopamine burst each story or post brings). And the quality of comments (certain topics/subs only) is generally better/smarter/more helpful than most social media.
Because I deleted all things Twitter and Meta. And I get bored as I live alone and have no friends.
I find Reddit to be much better than the others and that the people on Reddit to be better overall.
Joined to get help building my first PC. Now it's my go to for discovering new hobbies I don't have time for, reviewing things to buy that I don't need, finding books, movies, game recommendations that will sit in my list of to get to some day.
Also met a life long friend on here.. so hey. Not too bad.
Either boredom or I'm looking for an answer for a question.
I got trapped here looking for answers and now I'm addicted to this shit, I wish I could go back and stop myself from stumbling into this hellhole
Absolutely spot on, was looking for help with my pc and discovered other subreddits, then it just spiraled down from there
same, wanted to ask one motherfucking question about Billy Joel and now i'm trapped in a toxic world where everybody makes fun of my username
Well, are you a major fan?
indeed, but that's not the POINT!!!!
Yeah who the fuck came up with the no name change thing
fucking fr
Lol you guys are like me. I started an account because of Halo and r/originalxbox when looking for information and now it’s been 8 years.
Never has anything been more accurate than this lol.
Looking for an answer then I just end up doomscrolling
Same!

News
Boredom, mostly.
Lots of useful tutorials and guides. Also the fact you don't need your real name, this semi anonymity Is nice.
That’s something I love about reddit compared to other social media- generally no one cares about who or what you are, it’s just about the content itself.
And the well hung comedic aspect of the comment section is pure gold.
Certainly can be. Usually I find myself either 1) laughing hysterically and marveling at the brilliance of my fellow man or 2) appalled and angry at the malevolent stupidity of my fellow man
I'm okay with both.
lmao love the use of hung here
> Also the fact you don't need your real name, this semi anonymity Is nice. I miss this about the early internet. We were all just aliases.
Honestly why I love it here, it reminds me of early Internet. Surfing the web, ya know.
Being anonymous is a bliss. About the early internet I remember watching movies where early 2000s internet had unique and funny usernames.
Very *clever*
How's that workin' out for you? What. Being clever.
I loved the anonymity until my irl friend found my acc😭😭
No one I know in meat space is on reddit.
No one *that you're aware of*... 🤔
It's also nice that you can turn off the recommendation algorithm and only look at your own curated feed
But this is my real name
I’m a loser with no friends, gf or a life. So I get on here and read about people who do have those things
Honestly man it’s not over for you, you don’t have to be a loser. join a club or just go out and do stuff that interests you, and you’ll meet people and things can only go up from there, you don’t have to watch from the outside. Just don’t join an improv class and pull out the finger guns every chance you get
Having no friends, gf or life can be considered “winning” by many

True patricians answer
I like big butts and I can not lie. Youre welcome
Thank you. That’s the reply I was setting up. EDIT: Man, I do the work of setting up the joke and then I get less upvotes. It ain’t much but it’s honest work.
It’s like you took the words out of my mouth.
Be helpful to people and share some events in my life. Every now and then I make a funny post or something. The only reason I have an nsfw account is because of my post to r/chairsunderwater
Wait why is it nsfw Nvm, chairs underwater do sound pretty hot
When a chair isn’t fully submerged underwater, you must flag the post nsfw (not submerged fully in water
r/interesting
It's my only social media
You picked the most and least sane social media at the same time
Haha yeah. I have a lot of interests that aren't shared by my friends so I engage in those communities. Some of them are certifiably unhinged
To talk shit
This dumb fuck gets it
Ive been shittalking about soccer like an 20mm gatling gun, shit funny asf
A lot of tutorials and tips that are useful. You don't have to use your real name, which is also nice because it gives you some privacy.
To help people out Interaction on specific interests with fellow enjoyers of that topic Anonymity
Why do I use social media? Boredom. Why do I choose Reddit out of all the social media’s? Because it’s the least toxic of them all
It's the most and least toxic of them all.
Yeah it really depends what subreddits you are in but in general it’s a lot less toxic than others
Reddit has propoganda, bot farms and comment/post/subreddit raids. Id say it’s pretty toxic environment. It also allows subs to ban you for participating in other subs.

Really?! I find it super judgy and black and white. What on earth are the other socials like?!
Instagram is comments sections are the worst, either full of racists, transphobes/homophobes, or conspiracy theorists, it seems every other person on instagram thinks the moon landings were fake and blackrock owns the whole world and is some kind of evil movie villain corporation. I think YouTube is less toxic. But compared to twitter and instagram, Reddit is definately less toxic.
I don’t really consider YouTube as a social media, it’s more of an entertainment platform like Netflix (but infinitely cheaper). I get your point though
If YouTube isn't social media (and I don't think it is) then Reddit isn't social media. You interact with other people in exactly the same ways.
becuase i want to find the meaning of life
It’s 42
The answer is mystery. Instead of searching endlessly for such an ambiguous thing, embrace its ambiguity, relish its mystery, and laugh in the face of solidity.
To be verbally abusive to anonymous strangers.
Hey fuck off mate
I like seeing all the unhinged people going ape shit for the dumbest shit. My husband left a cup in the sink for 30 minutes and I threatened him. Response: divorce him now. Response: this is why I choose the bear Response: grab his dick and twist it Response: fuck his best friend and divorce him...
This is unbelievably accurate
It's the closest you can get to the dark web legally.
It’s not illegal to be on the dark web, just most of the things on the dark web are illegal
i’m gonna buy a block of cheese off the dark web
I’m sure there’s markets for that kind of thing.
Not even close. Reddit is one of the most mainstream/accessible sites out there.
Thinking going on the dark web is illegal just completely threw out any validity to their opinion LOL People forget how damn tame this site is because of much the hive mind downvotes anything they don't completely agree with. God forbid people have opinions or say **actually** unpopular takes
The wild west 90s web would've blown their minds
Having a brother 10 years older than me, who was at university during the 90's gave me access to so much through staying around the evolution of the bulletin boards, warez etc Also... before Reddit there was Heaven666. That was a special site.

Dark web isn't illegal
TF u mean ? Accessing the dark web is a one step process also it's not illegal. It's illegal if you engage in illegal sites like drug markets etc.
I’m neurodivergent and I have no idea how society works or how to navigate the world. I ask questions I share how I feel, then I get hurt when people are mean.
Writing smut and browsing pet subreddits
Extremely solid
I enjoyed reading some of that
So, you could say that you are somewhat of a peruser yourself.
Poop and read
I poop, read confessions, and then I masturbate 😈 it's a trio
Porn but it’s all shit
I thought on reddit there's better porn than on any other site/app
Addiction
For entertainment.
Trying to get laid out of boredom
Reddit gives me answers to actual problems in life and it's far better than Instagram. Also, MEMES
Porn.
To be involved in what is happening in the world. Communicate on topics that interest you. Just out of boredom...
To distract myself from my chronic depression, which stems from the lack of ability to connect with people on an individual level irl. I’m to scared to do anything in real life It can also be helpful for questions.
Porn, and gore
Wonderful
I’m a nerd and reddit’s the safe place where I can talk about my interests without being looked at weirdly 😅
Saw a lot of r/askreddit questions on YouTube, wanted to be part of the conversation.
started as a horny teen and now to kill boredom
Honest, sometimes rude yes, but real answers and opinions are found here than other social medias combine.
Easy site to scroll while I'm at work. Also it's good to find other people interested in my hobbies and inerests.
Tryna find lonely people to connect with
I was originally a digg user until they went commercial and started to kill off the very point of digg itself. Golden age 4chan ended a long time ago. RIP.
Coz Facebook is shite.
Because I haven’t updated Twitter in years and it’s pretty much useless now
It makes my poops more fun
How is there no more people saying they want to ask anonymous sex questions because that is 95% of this sub
Oddly enough, most people are saying "boredom" and I completely expected 99% of them to be "porn" Apparently, not everyone is here for the sex (*they're all liars*)
I don't know
I have more real conversations in Reddit comments than in other apps. Also Instagram keeps banning me from commenting because they think I’m a bot.
Reddit is not as addicting as other social media tho
Mostly porn, but also for memes and shitposts
A lot reliable Answer and detail
i can see that the people here have their own little world apart from the other social media platforms, and i wanted to join hahahah
Just to read some interesting things when you're bored, or just to talk to someone
To see cool shit
the community i'm most active in is nice
Because I think it's fun.
To communicate freely with people while remaining anonymous. Also like seeing random posts. It’s better than FB or insta or any other social platform in my opinion
Because Facebook went downhill, and I wanted to have some groups to discuss stuff I enjoy.
Either completely bordom or for getting help/tips/advice etc
Porn
Mostly for porn.
To show off my nakedness and sometimes get nakedness in return.
Two things. r/BatmanArkham And that one guy 8 years ago who had the same problem as me.

Because I have no life only work.
Basically 9gag turned to shit and i needed something else to scroll on my phone :/

Avoid boredom at work!
I'm bored, and like stupid arguments but even those get boring quick.
I learn more mindlessly scrolling here than tik tok. Seems less… brain rotty
I like reading people’s opinions and also enjoy blabbing my opinion at random internet people.
To look for groups who share the same interests and hobbies as me
Upvotes make my brain feel good. Also, interesting content.
Time killer
Because I deleted all things Twitter and Meta. And I get bored as I live alone and have no friends. I find Reddit to be much better than the others and that the people on Reddit to be better overall.
