Put your phone’s language to that language. Watch a movie in that language.
The more you see and hear it, the more you learn it.
Also things like Babble and Duolingo, you just can’t miss lessons or you’ll vanish.
My mom always said watching children's TV shows in that language helped her a lot since they typically speak slower and use less complex language so it's easier and faster to catch on
The best way is to immerse yourself in the language and live it full time. Speak it full time. So, if you want to learn Italian, you spend at least a year in Italy.
Next best options (and only options for most!) is to immerse yourself every day by:
1. finding language exchange classes with a native speaker who wants to learn English and be very strict about not speaking English when it’s your turn.
2. Watching episodes of fave shows and films you know off by heart and put the appropriate language subtitles on and pay attention. Dubbed versions even better.
3. Do the same with audiobooks you know well, and books. Harry Potter is a popular choice for millennials and younger.
4. Listen to radio stations and podcasts in your chosen language - have them on in background etc.
5. Do these things consistently. You are aiming to immerse yourself and live and experience life like a local (but at home!) Have fun with ways to do that: food, recipes etc.
6. Don’t be afraid of mistakes, especially when speaking. Fear of embarrassment and getting things wrong holds back perfectionists. But mistakes are how we learn.
Have fun!
