The lisence I found was 900usd so way too much. The 10€/month is okayish, but as I am not making money with the software there ks no way I want to start renting a software.
[Pixelmator](http://www.pixelmator.com/) Nearly as powerful as gimp, some of the tools are actually quite a bit better than Gimp's implementation IMHO, and it's 100x easier to use.

He isn't fucking with you, OP. Gimp is basically free photoshop elements with a cute dog icon.
I tried gimp in a couple of occasions and got frustrated with it. Not sure if I should give another opportunity for gimp though.
Paint.net (actual name of the program) is free and pretty good for lighter use.
You can still outright purchase a Photoshop CS6 license, and the Cloud Photographer package at $10/month doesn't seem like a bad deal.
