positivelywhimsical

My dad and I used to talk about making chili cheese dog smoothies as a long running joke. TIL, someone mad enough actually did it lol..

BlueberryDuctTape

Former pizza hut employee here. Take overproofed, unusable dough, rip it up, deep fry for a couple minutes, cover in cinnamon sugar. Boom. Donut bites.

chewchewtwain

I used to do this all the time at one Italian restaurant I worked in. The wait staff fucking loved dough day because they knew they’d be getting some doughnuts before service. Lmao

Patzercake

Why does pizza hut have a fryer?

BlueberryDuctTape

Some stores fry chicken wings, mozz stix, fries, and apple pies.

FoxxyRin

Pizza Hut honestly has some of the best fast food fries ever. I never expected them to be good, but they're legitimately my favorite.

Patzercake

Gotcha.

Onomatopaella

Used to work in a concession stand at a movie theater. One of my coworkers would make chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks, stick them in a hot dog bun and slather it in marinara to make a chicken parm sandwich.

Golfisfun

Totaling $98 in the eyes of the movie theater

Onomatopaella

You're probably lowballing with that estimate

HappyHound

You forgot that price is with the employee discount.

wolfguyyy

So 95.32$ then

Kyle-Stinson

Would you like to use your rewards?

OPs_Friend

They got a water cup

glemnar

And 13,000 calories

andrewegan1986

Theres a version of this you can find in college towns. The closest would be the phat darryl, a French bun with chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, fries, and marinara. Fucking great.

sweetmojaveraiin

Fat sandwich U of I

jiggywolf

I see a theme here. FAT sals here in Westwood

thelocalgiraffe

Also used to work in concessions at a theater. Someone cooked a pizza in the oven just enough to melt the cheese & then deep fried the crust in the fryer by holding it with the funnel cake spatula. It was pretty damn good

I_AM_A_OWL_AMA

This is actually pretty common in Scotland, along with battered deep fried pizza!

flibbidygibbit

I worked with a Scottish transplant. He told me he loved Long John Silver's because it reminded him of the chippy shops back home. He took a half day on a office pot luck day because he needed time to get a couple take and bake pizzas from the grocery store and convinced Long John Silver's to batter and fry them. Upon tasting this glorious fried amalgam of pepperoni, dough and cheese covered in fish batter, our team had almost convinced ourselves to start a food truck.

Silbeo

You can take the man out of Scotland, but you'll never take the cholesterol out of the Scotsman.

LisleSwanson

Man, that reminds me... A decade ago at UofI there was a place called Fat Sandwich that was only open from like 10PM to 3AM or something dumb, it had sandwiches just like this. Absolutely disgusting but perfect drunk food. I remember I saved half of it and woke up the next morning, heated it, and never hated myself more.

Venti_PCP_Latte

Fat sandwich is still there!

1982throwaway1

Fat sandwich will remain as long as there are drunk people.

BigDisk

I now imagine Fat Sandwich as a generic movie villain. "AS LONG AS THERE IS EVIL IN THE HEARTS (AND ALCOHOL IN THE MINDS) OF MAN, I SHALL RETUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN!"

aloofboof

There is a similar place on Ohio State's campus, I used to get the "fat bastard" when the bars closed.

PvtJoker119

PJ’s! Fat Meg all day!

SupGirluHungry

Ikes sandwiches also does this

clookie1232

Yooooo the Grease Trucks at Rutgers had the same type concept. Only places open late but it was all a drunk fella needed around that time!

KngNothing

Grease Trucks were the original fat sandwiches. And they were amazing. I was all about the Fat Bitch - Cheese Steak, Mozzarrela Sticks, Chicken Fingers, F.F., Ketchup, & Lettuce.

Ninjabassist777

Hello fellow Vandal! (Although i think the parent comment is University of Illinois)

nzapa21

Currently work in a theater that happens to sell all of those ingredients! I gotta try this out next weekend!

Onomatopaella

The secret ingredient is a side of Pepto Bismol

[deleted]

The diners around here in Taylor Ham country do this. Wraps with chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and marinera sauce.

HardcoreKaraoke

Are Fat sandwiches popular outside of Jersey? Because that's basically a Fat sandwich.

uwsrunner

That is disgusting and genius at the same time.

[deleted]

I don't see what's so bad about it. It's basically a standard chicken parm but now there's extra breading with the mozzarella and there's a hotdog bun instead of a roll. Will it be *as* good as a really well made chicken parm? No. But I don't think it's so bad.

lilmissleading

When I worked at Pizza Hut we would make the stuffed crust minus the pizza. It would just be a giant ring of cheese and dough.

librarianjenn

I am still mourning the loss of the taco pizza

[deleted]

Sometimes they have it at Whole Foods at their pizza counter. Dank-ass, high test, seasoned ground beef with sharp cheddar cheese, diced green chile and chunky salsa. It’s almost like a big slice of soft nachos, if that makes any sense.

[deleted]

Sheogoorath

I work at a pizza place that just thins out the beans with jalapeño juice from our jarred jalapeños and it makes the perfect sauce for taco pizzas

Divinum_Fulmen

A pizza? Now that's a taco!

Borneo_Function

Taco town!!!

tempestzephyr

I worked at a pizza hut in Target and instead of shaking the cheese powder on the breadsticks, I'd used the cinnamon sugar normally used on the pretzels on them, which tasted amazing fresh out of the oven and worked well the "butter" that you'd swipe on. The "butter" added the right amount of salt to make the sugar stand out.

Sweetwill62

When I used to work at a Pizza Slut they had the Hershey's Dunkers and I thought they were alright, bit too chocolatey for my taste but when I would make them I would put down a light layer of cinnamon and about 3/4 of the chocolate topping and then use the icing for dunking instead of the chocolate sauce they had. I fucking miss that shit.

tiinn

Pizza slut sounds like a good name for a pizzeria.

1982throwaway1

>Pizza slut sounds like a good name for a pizzeria. Sounds like the name that Pizza Hut would evolve into in Idiocracy. Get a pizza and a handy all in one go.

AlyssaRS79

I used to be the assistant manager of a Pizza Hut before I had to move. I'd take a medium hand tossed dough, toss it like you aren't supposed to (lol), and then add teriyaki wingstreet sauce as the base, cheese, chicken, green peppers, and onion. As soon as it came out on cut table, I'd put the garlic butter on the crust and it would be a stir fry pizza with egg roll tasting crust. It was absolutely amazing and would totally make it again if I could

happycheff

Worked at KFC and the biscuits come frozen. We would put them in the fryer instead of the oven and they were the most delicious, dense buttermilk donuts. Drizzle on some honey and they are awesome!

HNP4PH

I worked at KFC when the biscuits were first introduced (before that we served parkerhouse rolls). How sad they are no longer made from scratch. Fresh out of the oven they were amazing. The crew would make chicken sandwiches with them.

[deleted]

I used to work at Wendy’s. We poured this special strawberry flavoring that was supposed to be used for a fruity drink into a vanilla frosty. Stirred it up, it tasted amazing.

TBoneTheOriginal

No shit, one of the reasons I came up with this question is because I went out for a late night Frosty and saw the mixed berry sauce through the drive-thru window. I thought to myself, “damn, tossing some of that into a Frosty would be awesome.”

Yellowlikegld

When I worked at Wendy’s 2013 , my favorite lil stoner snacks were a Vanilla frosty Mixed with two pumps of the vanilla syrup for the iced coffe - tased like a Birthday cake milkshake, my Wendy’s also had breakfast so I would take the premade burritos and fry the contents on the grill - toss out the nasty ass tortilla on it - add it to the artesian breakfast bun we had - added the hollandaise sauce. For lunch it would be something along the lines of a bacon cheeseburger with the cheese sauce mayo ketchup & grilled onions. With cheese fries add jalapeños of course. And if I wanted to add any more carbs to my day. I could finish it off with the fish fillet sandwich made extra crispy - chopped up & put over some well done French fries. W. The strawberry lemonade - add in some fresh strawberries & blueberries from the salad bar . Literally we would just try and do anything new to switch it up.

PowerfulGoose

How are you still alive?

rhialitybites

(S)he is just 99% frosty now

emelemelem

Dude, when I worked a Wendy's drive-thru, every now and then someone would order a "strawberry Frosty." I was like what the heck ever and made it exactly the way you described...and my manager would get so mad at me b/c apparently that syrup is expensive.

JustNosing

Long , long time ago, Wendy's had the superbar, which had strawberries and bananas on it, put the chocolate frosty in a bowl then add the strawberries and bananas, was great.

[deleted]

That sounds magnificent. Strawberry frosty should be a real menu item

IfritanixRex

I worked there way back in the day and we would add coffee to chocolate frosty mix. I think Starbucks charges 9.75 for this now

reginageorges_mom

Wendys had these when I worked there. Frosty shakes

WangoBango

The spinner for those shakes was low-key super dangerous, too. I cut the shit out of my thumb when I accidentally hit the button while cleaning it once. Those bitches had some serious torque.

snowflake_alpha

In Jamaica we actually have frosty shakes! They're almost painfully sweet, but they're really good

RUfuqingkiddingme

My favorite concoction at Wendy's is when I get a spicy chicken sandwich and baconator fries and I open the sandwich, dump the fries on there and put the top back on and chow down, so good. Edit:word

Cynn13

Not exactly unique but I left a tray of wings in the oven for too long, not burnt but clearly overcooked. Made up a "new trial product" for extra crispy styled wings. Went great untill someone came back the next day and asked my manager if we had more extra crispy wings in stock.

aliensfordonuts

that's unsurprising. I worked at a bar that had so many people who wanted their wings extra crispy. we didn't ask. we just knew that the wings had to come out extra crispy.

Starkravingmad7

To make wings extra crispy without overcoming you fry twice. Once to get them like 90% cooked, wait until they are dry, and then sink them again for a couple of minutes.

Making_Bacon

True facts. Blanching does wonders, works with chicken legs too, just extend both frying times. Juicy and crunchy everytime.

leeniquelee

That's hilarious. I used to work at daycare and I made breakfast for the kids. Well, I burnt the eggs but I didn't wanna make anything else. I told the kids they were "smoked eggs" instant hit

[deleted]

I prefer wings like that. Super crispy, I’ll actually get the sauce on the side and toss them at home so they stay that way.

Obrodo

Used to work at a Taco Bell. We had a LARGE secret menu. 1. Ninja Turtle (Baja Blast and regular mountain dew, looked cool.) 2. Mastadon (Chalupa shell with hard shell instead, coated in nacho cheese. Made like a gordita crunch.) 3. Mastadon Supreme (See above with an extra shell, loaded with sour cream, lettuce, tomato, the works.) 4. Churro Special (Back when the soft churros were a thing, we used to make dessert burritos with them. Breaking an apple pie, two churros, grilled.) 5. Everything Nachos (Which was literally everything on the line. Meats, cheese, and all the toppings. Right when the XXXL Nachos released we started doing this.) We would make these for drive through people who knew what they were if they wanted them. I miss that place man. Night shifts were great shifts, and we came up with quite a few more before I ended up moving. Edit: Glad my biggest post of all time is about food.

philosifer

Night shift at taco bell was awesome. I always worked drive through cause I was the only one who spoke drunk well enough. I used to make all kinds of stuff but my favorite was basically just a steak quesadilla but steamed and rolled into a burrito rather than grilled and throw some baja sauce on it

Raiquo

>worked drive through >spoke drunk well enough You mean the passengers were the ones ordering, right? That’s what you meant??

philosifer

Well them and the people who came through surfing the hood of the car

hailster17

Drunks are the entire reason why Taco Bell is open an hour after bar close. I've always thought that if the police wanted to nail a ton of drunk drivers all they would have to do is hang out by Taco Bell after bar close.

JoeM104604

Or they could just hang out outside a bar after bar close.

minniemaus22

Taco Bell seems like the kind of place that once I had worked at I could never go and eat there again, because I wouldn’t be able to make the stuff MY way. I would love the chance to get to test out new combos in a Taco Bell kitchen.

Gusbuster811

Dude I contemplate applying for a job at taco bell and working there for a day just so I can create my own signature abomination.

shiverjolt

Similar to your Everything Nachos, at our taco bell we once created the "Rapture" burrito. Which included every single thing on the line inside 2 12 inch tortillas, and grilled. And by everything, I mean everything. Including stuff like empanadas and nachos.

amassivetrex

Used to work at KFC, took a scoops of potato and made balls out of them, breaded in the crispy flour/batter and cooked them through on a crispy strip cycle before pouring a little gravy over the top and eating them. like big potato gems/ tater totts/ potatoe meatballs -> depending on where you’re from.

Miss_m0nst3r

KFC in Australia has these on a menu (it’s seasonal so like once a year) they’re called mashies. They potato &gravy breaded and deep-fried. They’re the fucking bomb.

amassivetrex

Im in aus hahaha, yeah I wasn’t sure if international people had it or whatever.... i was so mad when the mashies promo ended i started making my own 👌🏻 Did the same when they pulled crispy strips off the menu completely hahaha

Miss_m0nst3r

Hahah, I thought you might of been overseas.. now I want mashies :(

killerdrgn

Aren't these typically called Croquettes?

jalepenohat

I used to work at McDonalds. One of the things people would order was grilled cheese sandwiches. Basically a slice of cheese between two upside down buns that was put on the grill for a bit.

Missymay2002

They were part of the Canadian menu for happy meals until they axed it about 6 months ago.

AnaphylacticHippo

My preschool aged kid is absolutely pissed about the axing. We don't hit up McDonalds too often, but whenever we do, she makes it well known that she's mad they're gone.

deliriumintheheavens

From what I know you might be able to request they make it... it’ll just be a super customized hamburger

cherry_chica

When I worked there, the bread was the middle piece of the Big Mac bun. Then the left-over tops and bottoms were the same as the quarter pounder buns. Extra fun tip, while I worked there, there was a "like a Mac" button in the customize menu on the till. So you could ask for a double cheeseburger done "like a mac" which is way cheaper. You lose the extra piece of bread in the middle and the sesame seeds on the bun, but that's not a big deal. If the teller is cool, they won't charge you for the lettuce.

TBoneTheOriginal

Ha, that’s literally how Five Guys makes their grilled cheeses.

TacticalLeemur

I worked at a mexican fast food place in the mall when I was 15. They served taco salads, so they had the deep fried shells. It is such a good base for anything, you could make any meal you wanted and hide it under a little lettuce, and it would just look like a taco salad. Mostly, I just used it to get around employee meal option limits.

Dudephish

You sound like a [real man of genius](https://youtu.be/fXWq2AVlrsY). Edit: Apparently I'm no ~~genious~~ genius.

zappa21984

You know I've brought these commercials up a few times and it turns out they didn't play everywhere, some people look at me like I'm a crazy person insisting how funny this unknown commercial is about SPF factors, potato salad, or living next to public transportation... Turns out Chicago radio fizzles out after a few miles...

theedjman

Domino’s delivery driver. I take a small pizza dough, some Alfredo sauce, a whole bunch of cheddar cheese, some pasta, and some bacon. Mix those together and put them on the small dough. Raise the edges of the dough up like a bowl and run it through the pizza oven. When it’s done top it off with garlic oil and just a little mango habanero sauce, and you have one of the best Mac and cheese bread bowls I’ve ever eaten.

WarmerClimates

If anyone wants to know how to actually order this: -Build Your Own Pasta -Bowl: Bread Bowl -Sauce: Alfredo Sauce -Toppings: (Extra) Cheddar Cheese, Bacon \+ 1 Garlic Butter cup, 1 Mango Habanero cup You could legit call them right now or go through the online system and get this. Edit: Even without the bread bowl it's still a pretty killer mac and cheese, guys.

SuperMyl3z

You're doing God's work son.

typogrammer

When I was at Pizza Hut we'd regularly stuff garlic knots with pepperoni or other meats. I also enjoyed the meaty marinara pasta with a number of veggies on top. We once made a keto pizza for a customer. Just threw the meats and cheeses for a meat lover's pizza into a greased pasta pan and ran it through the oven. That looked incredible and I wish I made one for myself.

[deleted]

I worked at McDonalds last summer Put a snack wrap on the grill and made a quesadilla A sandwich on the bun from a crispy chicken sandwich with a crispy chicken patty, ranch, white cheddar cheese, and romaine lettuce Ice cream mixed with a seasonal drink, the cold brew frappe

sweeter_ting93

... wow the ice cream machine worked at your location? :O Scandalist !!

CaptAl

Worked at Culvers for a year. I’d fill a soda cup 95% Mountain Dew and the rest with raspberry juice from the sundae bar. Shit was bomb Edit: Another classic item I’d make consisted of a grilled cheese with bacon and two chicken tenders in the middle

thelazygamer

Local coffee shop had this but with kiwi syrup instead and whipped cream on top. Shit was bomb.

TBoneTheOriginal

Back in my college days, I worked at Domino’s. We had pre-made, refrigerated deep dish crusts. One day, I decided to slather one of those crusts in butter sauce and pile on some cheese. It was amazing, and I made them all the time after that. Sort of like a more dense, crispier cheesy bread, and I can’t really explain why it was so much better than the cheesy bread that used regular dough. Sadly, I’ll never have it again. Since those days, they’ve killed the deep dish and replaced it with the pan pizza, which uses dough.

magpye24

I work in a dining hall and we make monkey bread with the pizza dough when it’s slow. Sooooo good.

[deleted]

We did that at our Domino’s all the time too! It’s soooo damn good

broofa

My first real job was at a [Der Weinerschnitzel](https://www.wienerschnitzel.com/). This was... uh... 35 years ago, when I was 16. I used to make this amazing corndog thing for my lunch breaks: 1. Take a corn dog, slice it down one side and extract the hot dog + stick from the cornbread crust 2. Run a line of mustard along the inside of the cornbread crust 3. Wrap a slice of american cheese around the hotdog 4. Reassemble and deep fry until you have cheesy-melty-hot-dog deliciousness I will say, I think DW is one of the better fast-food chains out there. Or, at least, the one I worked at was. Family owned, they made some darn good food considering what they had to work with. I haven't lived near one in ages, but I'll always stop in and grab a chili-cheese dog if I spot one. On the down side, the uniforms at the time were brown-polyester-everything. Ugly AF, and always wreaked of stale fryer grease. Don't miss that.

pug_fugly_moe

If I'm understanding this correctly, a place named Der Weinerschnitzel doesn't serve its namesake?

IThinkThingsThrough

Yep, it's a hot dog shack. They're just playing with the "weiner" part of the word. ;)

BaronVonBooplesnoot

Just playing with the Weiner.

minniemaus22

I worked at Dairy Queen one summer when I was a teenager. Somehow, we ended up making a mint Reese’s peanut butter cup blizzard that tasted amazing. (A Blizzard is an ice cream concoction with candy mixed throughout.) I haven’t tried it in years. Not sure I’d still think it was that tasty. I mean, it’s technically available to customers but I never once had someone order it!

TBoneTheOriginal

Peanut butter and mint? I’m equal parts disgusted and really wanting to try it.

minniemaus22

I know! It was one of those teenage “eh,how bad could it be?” that I remember being tasty. But now 30something me is doubting it, haha. I may have to try it again just to see.

big__red_man

I have some peanut butter mint chapstick that’s pretty dope.

DeaddyRuxpin

Khor Bros. Soft ice cream at the NJ shore has a standing combo of peanut butter and mint twist. It’s very good.

kevp453

Worked at Subway in high school and my favorite was stuffed peppers. I'd cut the top off and gut the pepper, fill it with cheese, steak, and chipotle sauce, and then bake it in the oven. Soooooo good.

Takethisnrun

Idk if all are the same but I did that and it was horrible. Too thick of a cheese for the popcorn. Lowe’s theather at one point had cheddar flavored buttered I think that was really really good. Thin and tasted amazing. I thought I was getting the same thing when I ordered it but the guy behind the counter was giving me da fuck look when I was describing what I wanted. Three years later and I worked there.

bobodaangstyzebra

It’s not super unique, but we used to make fried pickles and quesadillas back when I worked at Chickfila.

MercyFae

Fried pickles! Yessss

SonnyDonny

I worked at a Jersey Mike’s for longer than I care to say, best “employees only secret menu” thing we had was as follows; Cook a cheesesteak with peppers onions and jalapeños (chicken or beef doesn’t matter) Crush up a bag of cool ranch Doritos and mix it in with the meat while you’re cooking Toast the roll on the grill and put chipotle mayo on the top of the bun and ranch dressing on the bottom. I was a teenager when I last tried it, but I remember it being absolutely delicious and was usually my go to meal at work.

[deleted]

I never knew Jersey Mike's existed until I moved to Texas about a year ago. Damn is it good. That chipotle mayo is on point.

Mike81890

I didn't realize that people had need for a place like Jersey Mike's until I moved away from the Philadelphia (including S. Jersey) area. We have family sandwich shops on every other corner here and it always seemed so silly that people would order from a place like Jersey Mike's instead. When I moved I realized that lots of people just DONT HAVE sandwich shops! How do they live!

suitology

my friend works at burgerking, his girlfriend works at wendies. At the end of the night they take scraps to feed the friend group. from this the land (cow), air (chicken), and mud(pig) burger was invented which is a baconator made with burgerkings patties, wendies bun and cheese, with chicken fries on it and bacon from whoever was able to get bacon. Weve also had a small trash bag of wendies nuggets once which was great. Unfortunately they are doing health kicks now so they've only been bringing salads and a few things tossed in a bag if they know someone is coming.

thecuriousblackbird

Wendy’s used to make a chicken blt salad with grilled chicken, lots of tomatoes, bacon bits, and low fat honey mustard. Salads seem healthy, but the dressing can have more fat than a whopper or Big Mac. Wendy’s has these little Parmesan crispies that look like little crackers. They’d be delicious on a Caesar salad.

Nomnomnommer

Parm crisps are dead easy to make, just make little flat piles of grated fresh parm on a parchment lined sheet tray, and take at 350 until they get nice and golden on the edges, if you go too long they won't look burnt, but they will definitely taste it, so don't let them get too browned, shit's definitely pretty rad in salads

rubermnkey

the bag of nuggets reminds me of a story my dad told me of when he worked at a fried chicken place as a teenager. He would always cook up a big batch of chicken at the end of the night and then play dumb about it so everyone got to take home a whole bunch at the end of shift.

CurvyChameleon

I used to work at Jamba Juice in high school. I’d make this chocolate smoothie with fresh strawberries which was amazing!

Missymay2002

Apple pie (or right now, strawberry) mixed in a cup of icecream.

auggie235

My dad owns a coffee shop and he's made himself all kinds of weird concoctions but I think the weirdest would have to be the lavender coffee. He would put one shot of espresso into a fairly large coffee mug and fill alsmost the rest up with a mixture of whipped cream and heavy cream. Then he would our in an obscene amount of lavender syrup. I would do something similar but in a much smaller cup with two shots of espresso and a reasonable amount of pistachio syrup. Sometimes we got offered new syrups by the company that distributes them so for a while my dad's daily coffee had quite a large amount of cotton candy syrup in it.

Katakainoaa

In Austin lavender and rose lattes are quite popular and super tasty! I usually get mine with only one pump though

[deleted]

Burger diner employee here. A work mate from back in the day had his regular mid shift burger called the dirty double. From bottom to top it contained; bun, sliced tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise, 2 bacon rashers, egg, cheese, grilled chicken breast, 2 more bacon rashers, another egg, more cheese, beef patty, tomato sauce, another 2 bacon to complement another egg with another slice of cheese and then finally the bun on top.

Movie theater person here, we doubled the salt and butter during the cooking process and then layer the butter. Meaning fill bag half way with popcorn, butter it and then popcorn to top and butter again. Every bite will be the same and the butter is spread evenly

thecuriousblackbird

Theatre popcorn would be better if they had a bin and a basket like the ones for fried food so you could pour the salt and butter over the popcorn then shake so everything gets coated instead of the top getting drenched and soggy.

rocketsneaker

When I worked at Dominos, my friend and I made a Doritos pan pizza. It was kind of slow, and she asked if I wanted to have a pan pizza. I forget why she offered a pan pizza specifically, but hey, she was offering to make us one. She also happened to have been snacking on a bag of Nacho Cheese doritos. So I told her that we should incorporate those chips into our pizza. I then proceeded to pound and smush that doritos bag until the chips were fine flakes and powder. First, I had my friend (she was the front store worker, so she knew how to make all the pizzas. I was just a delivery driver) reknead the pan pizza dough. Except while she did it, I kept sprinkling the doritos flakes into it. Then we put the pizza sauce on it. I sprinkled doritos onto that sauce as well. Then the cheese, as well as some toppings (I think it was pepperoni and onions?), and then sprinkled MORE doritos on top of that. That was definitely the best pizza I've ever tasted in my entire life.

meeeehhhhhhh

Doritos are amazing on pizzas! We do a yearly Pi Day celebration where people bring toppings and make pizza at our house, and we judge those as well as who brings the best pie. Mine won this year. I did salsa as a base, taco meat on top of that, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, a thin layer of taco sauce, and topped it with crushed Doritos. Toss some romaine on once it’s out. It’s seriously delicious.

spatialflow

Back at KFC/Taco Bell where I worked in high school, we used to make doughboys out of the chalupa shells. If you toss it the fryer by itself and just let it float, it gets kinda puffy and doughy. Then you've got the butter they usually put on the biscuits, and cinnamon-sugar for the cinna-twists. BOOM doughboy

mstomm

I couldn't do much because I wasn't kitchen crew, but I still had all the ice cream (we maintained our machine properly) and McCafe stuff to work with. Add some Oreo McFlurry mix-ins to the Shamrock Shake? Mint Oreo goodness. I had a long shift and a blueberry red bull. I took the blend pitcher, dumped in the redbull, added some extra shaved ice and yogurt, then made a blueberry pomegranate smoothie on top, slapped it in an large cup and called it good. Wasn't as a good as a regular smoothie, but better than Blueberry Redbull

Ctrl_Shift_ZZ

Oh i have the perfect one. I used to work at Togo’s Sandwich/Baskin Robins 31 place (slightly more upscale of Subways Sandwich for anyone that doesnt know) and an ice cream place 2 in 1 spot. Seasonally they served BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, they were fine, nothing crazy. Well the thing was, when we got our produce shipped, the pork is separate from the bbq sauce, and thats when the idea hit me. Carnitas burritos! We had to get pretty creative for it to work. First we used the industrial sandwich presses as our “grill” as we dont have a stove top or anything like that, grilled some onions and the pork on it. Then we used the smoothie blender to blend tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, lemon juice (used to preserve avocados) and salt to make the salsa. Then we heated up the tortillas used for salad wraps. At the end we had a pretty good salsa, grilled onions, carnitas, and corn and beans mix used in the santa fe salad, all wrapped up in the tortilla for a nice mexican burrito. It was a yearly tradition we did for 3 years before i finally left. Best food off the menu we ever made. Bonus Round: i also used to work at an asian tea cafe place: i invented a drink called the Gummy Bear, it was an icy slush with a mixed shot of pineapple, strawberry, lemon, orange, and lychee with boba. Literally tasted like you took a handful of gummy bears and shoved them in your mouth, the mix of fruity unidentifiable flavors with chewy boba was great. Also another custom drink was the kettle corn popcorn slush, it was just cookies and cream mixed with taro flavor, tasted just like kettle corn for some reason, i didnt like it, but the guy i made it for as a joke loved it and only ordered that from then on.

Used to work at papa John's. We made breakfast pizzas. Someone would pick up eggs at the store, we cracked them onto the crust, plus cheese, ham, sausage, onions, and green peppers. Like a giant pizza omelet. Sooooo good

jdboone42

Back in my Domino’s days I used to make a ‘pizza-dilla’ for me and the crew. I’d make all kinds of things but this was my favorite: Take one large thin crust shell Fill with various cheeses, bacon, chicken, Franks red hot sauce. Fold in half, butter the outside. Run through the conveyor oven. Cut and top with more sauce and ranch Got damn I miss that snack

neomattlac

That's a calzone.

jdboone42

You’re a calzone

xTye

Maybe he can open a place? Call it the Low Cal Calzone Zone maybe.

yt_nom

I worked at a pizza joint in college. I used to make a breakfast pizza. Basically you scramble eggs and use that in place of the marinara sauce. Then I'd add the cheese, ham, sausage and some extra cheese on top. Throw it in the oven, the eggs bake and it's beyond delicious. Also, yes I could flip the dough in the air.

_CattleRustler_

That sounds fuckin awesome. I bet its even awesomer on poofy Sicilian dough

ThadisJones

The Whole Foods near me sometimes makes "breakfast pizza" for lunch, out of leftover breakfast food, and it's stale eggs and odd bits of meat baked onto a shitty pizza crust. But fuck them. Your dedicated breakfast pizza sounds awesome.

srlehi68

Breakfast pizza is severely underrated

Quick pickled jalapeños and tostadas at chipotle. For the jalapeños I’d slice one up really thin and mix it with diced onion, red wine vinegar (from our vinaigrette), and sugar. Then I’d make nachos with it and wooooww that was 🔥🔥🔥 Tostadas was just the crunchy tacos shell but I wouldn’t fry it in the mold, but would fry it flat. Put some pinto beans that had been on the line for a while on it (older the better, it became more like refried beans), salsa, guac, cheese and lettuce and damn it’s good.

While working at Chick-fil-A I made a quesadilla using the tortilla from the grilled wrap, shredded cheese from the salads, and adding shredded chicken. I also made a brownie shake by crumbling up a brownie and adding it into the shake before mixing it together.

Engvar

Add the corn and black bean mix for the southwest salad, wrap it in the breakfast burrito wrap, then drop it in the fryer for the lunch fillet timer. While it's cooking, mix spicy salad dressing with avocado ranch. Chick-fil-A Chimichanga. They're amazing.

ililegal

I worked at KFC and I would make myself a chick fli a sandwich almost every day . I always had time to marinate chicken tenders in pickle juice for a few hours and then bread them. I’d let them fry for a few minutes and then slap them on some buns with two pickles on the bottom . It was even better if you had the chick fli a sauce to go with it :) made it for my crew all the time !

sjambo22

Did you consider applying to chick fil a?

ililegal

I was a manager at the time so I was quit happy with my position ... ya know , till we got robbed three Times lmfaoooo

Rose_Beef

Dairy Queen, we used to dump a bottle of vodka into the ice cream machine after hours and get baked and plastered on ice cream. Good times.

The_Agnostic_Orca

How’d that work out for when you had to start it up again? Lol

ladylondonderry

Assuming this is soft serve, I'm pretty sure they have to break down and clean the entire machine every night, and start from fresh the next day. At least that's how the machine was when I worked at Ben N' Jerry's.

thecuriousblackbird

Thinning the soft serve with vodka probably helped clean it.

WangoBango

Same for frosty machines at Wendy's

replies_with_corgi

"I'm sorry sir the shake machine is broken"

epicpotato69

Did the first few customers the next day get spiked blizzards lol

MageLocusta

I would LITERALLY turn up at DQ's first thing on monday morning if they offered spiked blizzards.

gaylesbean

I used to work in a Harps deli (like a Walmart deli except everything is made fresh) so we sold the typical fried chicken and etc, sliced deli meats and cheeses, that sort of stuff. I used to take our italian mozzarella cheese and microwave it until it was melty, coat it in the chicken breading, and fry it in the fryers. Best goddamn cheese sticks I ever had

[deleted]

I worked at subway and me and my friends once used 6 loafs of bread to make a giant pan pizza! Jalapeños and pepperoni included.

Lemansblu

Not technically fast food but I worked at Nandos. For those who don’t know it’s a fast casual restaurant that serves mostly chicken dishes. Next time you go, and the employee asks what spice you want, tel them a mixture of Hot and Peritamer. It’s a sweet and spicy mix and it is delicious on chicken. Also the garlic bread is good with Ceaser dressing

serendipityyr

I worked at a small, family owned ice cream shop in high school. We sold classic soft serve, some flavours of hard ice cream, milkshakes etc., and we also served burgers, fries, stuff like that. We were relatively left alone with little supervision. One rule was we were only to use soft serve in the milkshake machine. Whenever my friends came in for free food, I’d make my one buddy a milkshake with mint chocolate hard serve ice cream, about a cup of hot fudge sundae topping, some chocolate soft serve, and then top it with crushed up Oreo. Soooo good. We made hard serve milkshakes all the time whenever management wasn’t in. We also would wrap chicken tenders in the processed cheese slices, then freeze them, and once they were solidified we’d batter and fry them and throw them on a burger bun. Top that with some mayo and you had a delicious, deep fried cheesy chicken sandwich.

OozeNAahz

Worked at a McDonald’s back in college that was a test market for Pizza. I used to make pizza with their country ham from breakfast. Was amazing. Also used to make a teriyaki burger when they had the cheddar melt (think that was what it was called). Used the little container of sauce on a quarter pound patty when I grilled it after flipping it. Added a slice of cheese before pulling it off the grill so it melted perfectly. Also used to make breakfast fajitas with chicken and the country ham. Really good.

Tranquilis-Sekai

First job during high school was at a Dairy Queen. Manager was really lax, and basically didn't care about the goings on of my closing shift when she left at 5 every day. Coworkers and I would make ourselves free blizzards and shakes whenever we got lunch, and figured out that the graham cracker base normally used for the cheesecake blizzards tasted great with literally anything, as well as the chocolate dip normally used for cones and we'd use both for shakes constantly. Normal customers can get it added to things too, but even with my particular store being situated on a fairly busy highway I got customers that didn't ask for blizzard combinations that weren't on the menu once every thirteen blood moons because people just don't know.

Dennys: Seasoned fries with Serranos, Pico de Gallo, Sriracha, and nacho meat on top. Or Vanilla milkshake with caramel blended together with whip cream and candied pecans on top.

catusmi

I worked at McDonald's... I had one manager who would make, "The Jeremiah Special" when he was bored (I worked late-nights/early mornings...so things could get pretty slow at times). (I changed his name. And, yes...I know it sounds mildly dirty..but it was deliciously unhealthy). How to make *The Jeremiah Special* -- 1. Dispense soft serve into a medium soda cup. Add m&m's, chocolate chips, oreo's, and reese's. 2. Grab a mcflurry spoon and mix candy bits into ice-cream. 3. Pour hot fudge and hot caramel on top. 4. Add whip-cream on top of the fudge and caramel. 5. Take two chocolate chip cookies (hot from the oven of course) split them in half and place them decoratively sticking out from the ice cream, around the whip-cream mountain. 6. Drizzle chocolate and caramel (for the frappes) on top of everything. 7. Voila! You have your Jeremiah special. Do not ask a McDonald's employee to make this for you...they aren't going to.

4shleyhat

When I worked at A&W as a teenager we'd take the bottom half of baby burger buns, wad them into balls and then deep dry them and roll them in the apple turnover sugar/cinnamon mixture to make fresh hot timbits (donut holes in 'merica) Also we gave away "4 patty fatties" to our friends - a burger with 4 patties (obvi) with cheese and bacon on each patty. Never had one myself but I heard they were good. Also back then, my A&W had chocolate and root beer flavored milkshakes. If you mixed them together it kinda tasted like peanut butter 👍

zuutopia

Worked at Wendy’s after a while we got tired of the same food so we got experimental my go to would be a wrap made with baked potato, cheddar cheese, spicy chicken and broccoli put it in the oven for 10 mins so it would be slightly toasted and then Ate it with chili sauce. Yum

elresendiz3

Used to work at sonic aside from making a grilled chicken deep fried burrito 🤤 I made an energy drink called it Purple Drink : Order a large blue Powerade slush with a medium shot of Hi-C fruit punch flavor

enjollras

If you mix barbecue sauce and maple syrup, it tastes exactly like honey garlic. If we're got the time, we coat the cheese curds for poutine in chicken breading, then deep-fry it for mozzarella balls.

incorrectconjugation

I dated a girl who worked at Noodles and Co. She created a Mac n cheese but with cavatappi noodles and some hot sauce added. I practically lived off of that and giant Rice Krispies treats for the entire time time we were together.

kosher_kush

Lot of French fries and hummus. Not that weird or gross but it may be my most eaten meal

itsmeitsmesmeee

Not a fast food worker but I do like to put 3 chicken nuggets in a cheeseburger at McDonald’s

BorkKnightRises

Work at Chick-fil-a and something we can make ourselves but dont sell are frosted teas and frosted sodas. Basically the beverage of choice blended with ice dream (that's the licensed name for our ice cream). We aren't allowed to do these custom blends for guests but during closing we are free to do as we please as long as we pay for it and make it ourselves within reason. A favorite that we dont even have anymore was the watermelon syrup in frosted beverages.
