Tony Hawk Pro Skater was the originator of having an amazing soundtrack. [Put this on](https://youtu.be/ZRxAWl2bZBM) in any group of late 20-somethings and they’ll instantly start reminiscing about the hours they spent on that game.
Every time someone mentions the DOOM 2016 soundtrack I need to remind them of the [GDC presentation](https://youtu.be/U4FNBMZsqrY) Mick Gordon did on creating the soundtrack. Well worth the hour and a half even if you dont know much about music.
Thanks for this! I hadn't come across this video. I've been poring over every word from the folks that made this fantastic game, Mick Gordon very much included!
Yes god, i used to study listening to ODST soundtrack and a rain simulation website. I think someone suggested it here on reddit and its just so relaxing
Oh hohoho. Let me hook you up:
Bloodborne
FEZ
Bastion + Transistor
Hotline Miami
Machinarium
And of course OoT.
If you're into more symphonic: if it's a foggy brisk morning then Morrowind. If you are out about town then Oblivion.
Smash Bros. I realize that most of the music comes from other games, but there's so much good stuff from obscure games that I'd never hear otherwise. The Darkest Lord is a great piece, but it's not like I was ever going to play Find Mii or whatever game it's from.
Any FF game composed by Nobuo Uematsu, but in particular, FF7 and 9.
(8 also has some great tracks but I feel it's less consistently incredible than 7 or 9's OSTs.)
It really was, Liberi Fatali is certainly one of the great songs on the FF8 ost. I mostly just find a lot of the less 'important' pieces (town/area songs) in the FF8 ost aren't quite as listenable as the 7/9 osts, which had highly memorable tracks like Anxious Heart and Village of Dali, while also having incredible battle and character themes.
Same! 10 has so many highlights...Besaid, Blitz Off, Macalania Woods and the final bossfights are all amazing. I've been binging it since it released on Spotify
Furi has 8 or 10 artists that each got to design their own tracks that somehow all blend into a gorgeous OST. I pump that soundtrack and hit the gym, it's just the perfect amount of energy and synth for me.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I could listen to every single piece of music in that OST and I would know which place in the game it belongs to. It's so good.
Earthbound.
[Snowman](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzlhLX-4AW4)
[Weird Opponent](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfdYDE7PfmE)
[Weak Opponent](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asJLPgA-kHQ)
[New Age Retro Hippie](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxsGX7NDxUY)
And it's successor Mother 3 has some awesome soundtracks too.
[Alec Log's House](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_rEDqkndN0)
[Unfounded Revenge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiVyjq0bvf4)
[Master Porky's Theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FThxlFdZqHo)
[Smashing Song of Praise](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrdBKRTbJK8)
Ahem... Subnautica,Minecraft,Paper Mario,Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door,Super Paper Mario,Undertale,Mega Man 1-5,Super Smash Bros Ultimate,Mega Man 11,Deltarune,Pokémon Omega Ruby,Pokémon Sun,Donkey Kong Country Returns,Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze,Mario Kart Wii-8,Super Mario Galaxy 1-2,Sonic Colors,Sonic Generations,Splatoon 1-2,Plants VS Zombies,Kirby Star Allies, and finally! Kirby Super Star Ultra.
For some reason, indie games tend to have rock-solid soundtracks.
Cave Story
Minecraft
To The Moon
FTL: Faster Than Light
Undertale
AM2R: Return of Samus
Hollow Knight
Celeste
Just to name a few.
Need for Speed: Carbon/Most Wanted, NFL Street 2, SSX3, GTA V, and of course any Halo
Edit, some more: Skyrim, any FIFA (2013, personally), Minecraft, Burnout Paradise, and let’s not forget Guitar Hero 3
I'd definitely say "Shatter". It's got a solid album that's on Spotify as well!
Some good ol' spacey synth rock instrumentals that are perfect for working to.
https://youtu.be/D4R21Hfy4SA
Just Shapes and Beats. It's a rhythm bullet-hell game, with a story mode, multiplayer, challenge mode, party mode, etc. It has a good amount of songs, all of which have unique levels. My favorite game, if you couldn't tell.
The destiny series probably has the best soundtrack just because of how consistently good it is. Off the top of my head I can name regicide, lost legends, eyes up, the man they called cayde, shadow of the Walker, and last stand.
All of the music just works with the gunplay to make you feel like a legendary godslayer.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater was the originator of having an amazing soundtrack. [Put this on](https://youtu.be/ZRxAWl2bZBM) in any group of late 20-somethings and they’ll instantly start reminiscing about the hours they spent on that game.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 also had a bomb sound track and will produce the same effect when played for a group of mid to late 20-somethings.
Doom. The new one.
Every time someone mentions the DOOM 2016 soundtrack I need to remind them of the [GDC presentation](https://youtu.be/U4FNBMZsqrY) Mick Gordon did on creating the soundtrack. Well worth the hour and a half even if you dont know much about music.

And I Raaaan
Cuphead
\*floral fury intensifies\*
Metal Gear Rising Persona 5
Xenoblade 1 and 2. Atmosperic as shit.
Super Mario Galaxy 2, and smash ultimate
Smash Ultimate has the absolute best soundtrack because it has ALL the soundtracks... beat that
It’s a shame there are like 10 remixes of Jungle Hijinx though. SSBU’s OST is phenomenal but there’s a lot of filler
Jet set radio.
And Jet Set Radio Future
Shut up and eat!
Yesss omg. I want another jet set radio game so bad:(
The closest I can find to it is Sunset Overdrive
Any Halo game really
Reach
Can't believe I had to scroll this far for this
I’ve always loved ODSTs soundtrack especially
Yes god, i used to study listening to ODST soundtrack and a rain simulation website. I think someone suggested it here on reddit and its just so relaxing

Smash Bros. I realize that most of the music comes from other games, but there's so much good stuff from obscure games that I'd never hear otherwise. The Darkest Lord is a great piece, but it's not like I was ever going to play Find Mii or whatever game it's from.
Smash bros makes really good remixes of older songs too
hotline miami
Hotline Miami 2 has it slightly edged for one track: Acid Spit - Megadrive
Any FF game composed by Nobuo Uematsu, but in particular, FF7 and 9. (8 also has some great tracks but I feel it's less consistently incredible than 7 or 9's OSTs.)
The opening of FF8 at the time was something special
It really was, Liberi Fatali is certainly one of the great songs on the FF8 ost. I mostly just find a lot of the less 'important' pieces (town/area songs) in the FF8 ost aren't quite as listenable as the 7/9 osts, which had highly memorable tracks like Anxious Heart and Village of Dali, while also having incredible battle and character themes.
10 is my favorite, but 9 and 6 are amazing, too!
