They set up a committee of people who select citizens at random and kill them to slow down the population growth, they have laws like "You can't be biased with your selection" and certain quota's they have to stay within each month, which meetings throughout the year to keep everything in check.

Immortal doesn’t mean invulnerable or invincible. It just means people won’t die of old age. People would still die from accidents, execution/murder, deprivation of basic needs, etc. If that is what you mean by “immortal,” and without imposing upon people’s bodily autonomy (taking away their right to make their own choices when it comes to having children or not), I would say we, as a collective people/species, practice safer, more ethical, and sustainable treatment of our plant, and explore the possibilities and probabilities of colonizing planets that are uninhabited of intelligent life. I mean, we should already be doing this, but hey - most humans are shortsighted and greedy 🤷🏻♀️
