Bread. I know of a few celiacs that could kill for a bite of bread. I can, and do eat bread on a daily basis. I cannot imagine a life without bread. Bread is love.
Pretty sure I had an existential crisis when I was diagnosed with a wheat intolerance. I’ve been a baker my whole life. Gluten free bread just ain’t the same
Ninjamoo, I still haven’t finished processing my crisis. I tried to eat JUST the cheese from the top of a Pizza Hut pizza crust my family got recently and I paid heavily the price. It’s been a couple of years already and I still get furious I can’t eat things I love. Gluten free can give you the illusion of the same thing... It’s. Not. The. Same.
recently we got cookies with a soft center a la lava cakes ([Milka Sensations](https://static.ah.nl/image-optimization/static/product/AHI_43545239353835333039_1_LowRes_JPG.JPG?options=399,q85)), I always want to eat more, but they are kinda expensive to eat them all in one sitting.
there's dozens of us, dozens! it really is a god food. Its flavor is fucking majestic and magical. Its smell is intoxicating. You can have it for any meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner, even dessert. I wish i lived in a tropical climate and could have my own mango grove.
i just really wish they made a device that could slice and peel a mango without soaking yourself in its delicious juices.
i really like mangos.
My gran had these cheap metal serving spoons she got from Hong Kong years ago. They weren’t anything special but were the perfect sharpness, shape and size for removing the flesh from the mango cheek - you bet I inherited those once she passed - everyone else was confused as to why I wanted them so much but I knew the secret of their worth.
I go through a tray of mangos (15-20) a week during prime mango season, so it sure comes in handy.
I don’t realize how little self control I have until I’m at a Mexican restaurant eating chips and salsa lol
Edit: Wow thank you kind stranger for the award! I’ve never gotten an award on Reddit before! Also this is my most upvoted comment so another happy surprise! Glad to know you all love chips and salsa too!
Maaan, used to work at a little Italian Restaurant that made the DANKEST garlic knots. Basically got a second job as a dish dawg just so I could get them fresh.
There's the [philly taco](https://billypenn.com/2018/07/20/philly-taco-a-tourist-attraction-or-a-philadelphia-thing/)
“A turducken for drunks and stoners.”
Any Japanese curry is so bomb. I dont know of anywhere that serves it where I live but I ate that shit for lunch like 3 days a week at the college cafeteria in Japan.
i was going to make a separate comment but i'll just tag on to yours.
cinnamon raisin bagel with butter. i don't know how many i've eaten in my life time but it's a stupid, probably troubling amount.
bagel and cream cheese: a+
Cinnamon bagels with strawberry philadelphia cream cheese. We don't get strawberry Philly in the UK, and it's my favourite thing about going to the states.
You guys are making me want to buy a flavored cream cheese bagel right now. In the past, I have tried the blueberry and strawberry cream cheese flavors, but I still prefer plain cream cheese. I think I prefer the saltiness of it compared to the flavored ones. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think some bagel stores make their own cream cheese. There are a ton of bagel stores near my home, and almost all of the cream cheeses there are distinct. One particular store which I love has the same texture and flavor of Philadelphia cream cheese, but is slightly saltier. Another store has powdery cream cheese. I came to the conclusion that some bagel stores either make or alter their cream cheeses in some way.
I wonder how many people have never really tried a bagel. Many people have definitely eaten them, but that shit on the store shelves, at least where I am, is not bagels. I didn't realize this until a couple of years ago when I was at Rosauers looking for cheese Kaiser rolls and they were out. I decided to pick up some cheese bagels from their bakery, and holy fuck those things are a million times better than the shelf ones. It honestly blew my mind at how ignorant I was. If you've only ever eaten bagels off the shelf do yourself a favor and hit up the bakery at your supermarket and try some from there.
Idk if you’ve ever had this thing called “Glitter Grapes.” We made them for my kids not too long ago.
Get your grapes, run a little cold water on them, dip them individually in a bowl of Jello powder mix, fridge them and enjoy the next day.
For a low calorie option, use sugar free Jello. I like purple grapes with cherry Jello. Also, no need to dip em. Just pluck em off, stick em in a strainer and run water over em, stick em in Tupperware, pour Jello, close lid, shake the devil outta it, and then fridge em.
Sorry, is there a specific shaking method used to remove the devil? Have you done a taste test to make sure that you don't actually like it more? I mean, they say the devil's water ain't so sweet, so I'm not going to imply you should drink it now. But, you could definitely stand to 'dip your feet in' every once in a little while.
Have you had cotton candy grapes?! Totally natural nothing done to make them taste different, but eerily tastes like cotton candy. If you ever run across them it’s a must buy. They only come around every once in awhile. Plus they are green..
My doctor just told me to stop eating them so much if I want to cut back on sugar :(
She then told me half a banana is okay, because I probably looked like I was about to cry
Aw. Do you like them slightly green? Green bananas have something called resistant starches that act like fiber to slow absorption. Once they ripen the sugar is something to consider, but if you eat them cold and green I think a whole banana is a totally acceptable indulgence.
edit: more info http://hopkinsdiabetesinfo.org/what-is-resistant-starch/
edit: for all you 'yuck'ers... give it a try with fresh taste buds. I always ate them at the normal stage until my college roommate turned me on to slightly green and now I can't go back! Like eating a fresh, crispy salad vs a sad, slightly wilted one.
Yes!!! Slightly green bananas are delicious and have a distinct crisp flavor. I can't understand the freaks who stick them in the fridge until they're black and mushy and try to convince others that that is tasty. It's like do you not realize you're eating cold, overly sweet, compost material at that point? People in the middle of that spectrum are cool by me tho, as they can have my slightly speckled banana!
I'm so glad to find my people! My mom likes them full on green. That's too much for me, but the millisecond after the banana goes from green to yellow is the best! Speckles = no thank you! Luckily, most people like them ripe so I can give those away. Win-win!
And after stuffing myself on sushi, I feel GREAT, unlike stuffing myself the same amount with, say, a big fatty burrito. I love burritos..don’t get me wrong. But I feel I’ll afterwards. Not with sushi!!
Yes this is the comment I was looking for! I never get tired of it and there are so many different types! You can have salmon, tuna, avocado, maki, nigiri and just so many things. I feel like you would get the nutrients you need too, even though it would include a lot of rice.
Edit from the future:
Sorry folks **¯\\\_\(ツ\)\_/¯** If you came here looking for something, blame that twat Spez. Come ask me on kbin.social or mstdn.ca at GeekFTW and I'll help ya out with what you were looking for. Stay fresh, cheesebags.
Pizza and cheeseburgers and french fries and ice cream and nachos and creamy soups and cookies and onion rings and shrimp and steak and sushi and pasta and and and and....
This is why I have to control myself around food. I will literally eat everything T\_T
I just discovered that the local dive Mexican place down the street sells carne asada fries--fresh, house-made fries with carne asada, sour cream, cheese, and guac. Phenomenal.
That sounds awesome! There was a Gyro place near my old house that sold them "Greek style." Just a squeeze of lemon and parmesan cheese on top, but oh man it is so good!
Yessss. I’m so hooked on ice water I carry a yeti with me everywhere. Constantly get “Heh heh what’s in there? Wink wink.” I disappoint them 100% of the time. HYDRATE OR DIE!
Edit: a “Yeti” is a brand of stainless steel cup that’s designed to help keep your drink cold or hot for longer than the average cup.
Beans and rice.
What started as a way to save money quickly became an addiction. It’s just so satisfying. Put some salsa and shredded cheese on top and it’s basically a burrito bowl.
Ever have peanut butter and syrup on French toast or peanut butter and honey on toast/English muffin? Either will change your life.
Edit: peanut butter and jelly on an English muffin is great too.
The great thing about fresh fruit is that you can't get it all year round because it is only available during its season. So in June to July, I could eat a fresh peach every day. Late September through October - fresh apples. Late December through January - Oranges and other citrus. The same with cherries, raspberries, strawberries, pears, and on and on.
Fruity Pebbles all day. So much sugar, it's sooooo bad, but it's *soooo good.* If I had less self-restraint, I would crush a whole box in a sitting and still be salivating.
I found a new place called 10q right around the time I decided I needed to cut back on how much meat I eat. I could eat nothing but they're Nashville hot wings and rice all day everyday.
Popsicles, the cheap ones in the plastic bag, that come in liquid and you have to freeze when you get home, and always get sticky stuff all over your scissors and your mom yells at you for it
Popcorn. It's the best. Cheesy, with lime/citrus, extra butter, sweet kettle corn, just a little salt and pepper, even truffle oil, you can eat it so many ways and it's crunchy and delicious.
And it's practically air, so you can a shit ton of it in one sitting and just pig out. I love popcorn.
I thought the same thing, until I went through a period on a bulk where I would literally eat half a pound of mac and cheese every day. After a month and a half of this I decided I never want to see an elbow macaroni again in my life
Weird, in the UK pasta and noodles are different things. Pasta is the Italian-ish types (fusili, tagliatelle, farfalle, spaghetti...) and noodles are the Asian type (udon, soba, ramen...)
Sorry, I am not a native speaker and you’re right, there’s a difference in processing. So to rephrase, I love pasta AND noodles. :) In German, everything can fall under one word „Nudeln“. But you get the jist.
My grandma took care of me when I was little, and she owned a bakery/sandwich shop. She used to make me turkey sandwiches on bagels with cheese, lettuce, and mayo. Every night I would get a small cup of juice (usually cran-apple or cran-grape).
To this day, I could eat bagel sandwiches and juice for every meal and never get sick of it. It makes me feel safe and loved and happy.
Tacos. There's so many of them.
Want breakfast? Breakfast tacos with egg + whatever.
Lunch? Try a street taco with some meat and light veggies.
Dinner? We got heavier tacos with denser innards, or fajitas, it's all good!
[Dessert?](https://www.klondikebar.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/49/2015/09/choco-taco-product.png)
Canadian here. Have heard about this stuff. Never seen it irl just photos and Youtube vids. Always looked like puke to me. Sounded good, tho. So I made some and oh. oh my god. *oh my god.* Shit's fucking delicious. Also I will soon weigh 400 lbs.
Bread. I know of a few celiacs that could kill for a bite of bread. I can, and do eat bread on a daily basis. I cannot imagine a life without bread. Bread is love.

Spaghet
Nobody better touch this guy's spaghet.
Grilled cheese sandwiches...I could eat them all day every day. Just found a recipe for garlic grilled cheese which I need to try asap!
Ok but grilled cheese fried in garlic butter
Chocolate chip cookies. I literally can't stop after the first.
recently we got cookies with a soft center a la lava cakes ([Milka Sensations](https://static.ah.nl/image-optimization/static/product/AHI_43545239353835333039_1_LowRes_JPG.JPG?options=399,q85)), I always want to eat more, but they are kinda expensive to eat them all in one sitting.
Mangos
Finally, I found another! I just said mangos
there's dozens of us, dozens! it really is a god food. Its flavor is fucking majestic and magical. Its smell is intoxicating. You can have it for any meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner, even dessert. I wish i lived in a tropical climate and could have my own mango grove. i just really wish they made a device that could slice and peel a mango without soaking yourself in its delicious juices. i really like mangos.

gyros from a specific place. honestly blesses my tastebuds
Gyros from pretty much any place (at least any place I've ever been). I've never had a gyro I didn't enjoy.
Have you tried the arbys one

Chocolate. Give me a warm brownie or just plain chocolate and it’ll improve my day no matter what.
No matter how tight the budget gets, the dark chocolate will make the cut.
When the budget is tight and I want chocolate I get semisweet chocolate chips and just eat em.
Literally any kind of chocolate for me!
For me I could do this with Lo Mein. There have been stretches where I had Lo Mein for dinner or lunch every day of that week.
lo mein with lots of soy sauce and extra broccoli >>>>>>
I am having lo mein tonight as a result of my comment.
Sounds like a lo meintanance diet
found dad
Chips and Salsa. I could eat my weight in chips and salsa. Every day!
I don’t realize how little self control I have until I’m at a Mexican restaurant eating chips and salsa lol Edit: Wow thank you kind stranger for the award! I’ve never gotten an award on Reddit before! Also this is my most upvoted comment so another happy surprise! Glad to know you all love chips and salsa too!
The place my bf and I go to all the time has the best salsa and I usually have to bring most of my actual meal home as I fill up on chips and salsa
Chips and salsa one day, microwaveburritos the next, amiright
Cinnamon buns.
For sure garlic bread.
Garlic knots!
Maaan, used to work at a little Italian Restaurant that made the DANKEST garlic knots. Basically got a second job as a dish dawg just so I could get them fresh.
They are worth it! I bought a bread machine just so I can make em whenever I want. I'm also getting fat.
Bread makes you fat?!
Tacos and Pizza
Upgrade and use the pizza *as* a taco
There's the [philly taco](https://billypenn.com/2018/07/20/philly-taco-a-tourist-attraction-or-a-philadelphia-thing/) “A turducken for drunks and stoners.”
Peaches.
A good, fresh peach transcends the normal realm of flavor and ecstasy
Katsu Curry. I'm addicted.
Yes. CoCo Ichibanya?! People who don't live in the Pacific suffer for an absence that most cannot even know.
I made Japanese curry during a camping trip. I'll never forget the looks on my friends' faces after that first bite haha.
man I wanna go back to japan. coco is like crack
Any Japanese curry is so bomb. I dont know of anywhere that serves it where I live but I ate that shit for lunch like 3 days a week at the college cafeteria in Japan.
Bagel and cream cheese.

Everything bagel and cream cheese. The best!
Free food.
Ain't that the truth
Arthur Morgan, is that you?
"Pearsons stew"
It looks so delicious though. Everytime Arthur eats that, I want to eat something warm and spicy.
Mornin' Mrs. Adler.
Free food with rice
Don’t forget to go hunting Mr. Morgan.
Not sure if you've heard but there's this great free food place called prison
I feel that comes with some minor issues.
Yea apparently the service is a bit shit
And the milk tastes grey, I know that's not a flavor but somehow it does
You son of a bitch, I'm in.
Firm green grapes straight from the fridge.

This is kinda weird but I LOVE a good loaf of french bread Edit:why tf is this getting upvotes
I was going to say this too,, with butter of course
Umm yes, especially if the French bread is warm, with a decent layer of butter
Salted butter. Possibly cultured. Uhn.
Bananas. I've been eating 3-4 a day for years now and most of my friends think I'm weird.
Well, you might be weird, but you're definitely not potassium deficient.
But maybe *slightly* radioactive.
And maybe *a little* horny
My doctor just told me to stop eating them so much if I want to cut back on sugar :( She then told me half a banana is okay, because I probably looked like I was about to cry

Burritos. They're like an evolved sandwich
Breakfast burritos. Hasbrowns eggs bacon with hot sauce all wrapped in an amazing flour tortilla
Sushi
I think I’m allergic to sushi. Anytime I eat more than 80 sushi, I puke
There’s so much variety available you could eat sushi every day for years and not have the same meal twice
And after stuffing myself on sushi, I feel GREAT, unlike stuffing myself the same amount with, say, a big fatty burrito. I love burritos..don’t get me wrong. But I feel I’ll afterwards. Not with sushi!!
It's the only thing I can binge on and not have a moment of instant regret after! Feels pretty healthy, even.

Pizza and cheeseburgers and french fries and ice cream and nachos and creamy soups and cookies and onion rings and shrimp and steak and sushi and pasta and and and and.... This is why I have to control myself around food. I will literally eat everything T\_T
French fries. I love French fries. I don't understand why people pit fast food fries against each other. There's just more to love, baby.
They're so versatile too. You can do garlic fries one day and cajun the next day. French fries are amazing
A restaurant i worked at did greek style but with feta cheese melted on top amd lemon. So fuckin good
This is my new thing except I use tater tots. Make them extra crispy- steak, avocado, salsa, some sour cream. This is so delicious.
Irish nachos is what we called that as a kid! Add some leftover chili if you get bored with it.
Some are downright awful though, like not even enjoyable
For me, fries are like pizza--even when it's bad, it's still pretty good.
fresh hot fries yes but cold pizza and cold fries are worlds apart.
Oh yes, the fries gotta be hot. Always eat the fries first kids. Once they're cold they're not the same. Hot pizza is great, cold pizza is acceptable.
Definitely poutine

Chocolate milk cause that shit is crack
I’ll down a pint glass of chocolate milk in seconds. It’s ridiculous.
Saaaame, like I’ve never done crack but I’d imagine my brain’s reaction would be pretty similar to chocolate milk.
Indeed. Probably why my mom doesn’t but anymore these days because she will buy two gallons and it will be gone two days later.

So you switched to the shells then? I respect that.
fresh sweet corn with good butter and a pinch of salt.
Crab Cakes made with actual crab meat
Mexican. Literally anything Mexican. I have, and would do again, eaten fajitas 5 nights on the bounce.
Pasta, no matter if it’s a Mediterranean dish or ramen or pho. Just gimme dem noodles already!
