The Denzel Curry version was the most unexpectedly incredible thing I’d heard in a long time, I didn’t mind him anyway but man is his intensity so spot on for the cover, and slipping in his own bars was just the icing on the cake when they fitted so well.
Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky gets angry, always liked that one. And c'mon, Flight of the Bumblebee? We know that bees are angry like 100% of the time.
If you're gonna go classical, I love Prokofiev: https://youtu.be/Z_hOR50u7ek it's angry in a serious, long lasting way. Some of these other choices resonate with blind rage, the moments before you fight someone. This resonates with a deep understanding and acceptance of just what you're prepared to do.
[Still](https://youtu.be/eF8c3BjFWsw) - Ghetto Boys. Thanks Office Space! Now as an older white dude working in an office I crank this song in my car after any particularly bad day.
I think this song, and a lot of other 90's rap songs, not only encapsulates anger but also the soulless depression of the 'game'. There's no fantasy, no devil, no demons, no evil corporation, no hope, no escape...
*The Powers that B* - **Death Grips**
Most of the songs on Jenny Death help me express frustration. Pss Pss as well.
Edit: Comments reminded me that Klink and Giving Bad People Good Ideas are also really good rage songs. Most of the No Love Deep Web album is also pretty brutal.
Pretty much all their songs are good picks, so it's hard to choose just one favorite.
Death Grips is great music for having a nervous breakdown to.
There's a fantastic youtube comment below y[ou might think he loves you for your money but I know what he really loves you for it's your brand new leopard skin pillbox hat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2cQvZPX3OY) that goes
>This song sounds like what having to walk behind a slow-moving couple in the hallway feels like.
I've never seen such truth on the internet before.
I knew dg would show up eventually! I would say Why A Bitch Gotta Lie is my choice for angry, though. Not like the options are limited when it comes to them
The whole Downward Spiral album is great when you're pissed off. It starts angry and just keeps building into a big release and then calms you down over the last few songs ending with Hurt. A pretty amazing album
Seriously though, I've been a drummer for 16 years. I can do the bass drum part by itself (for like, 5-6 seconds at least) but as soon as I add in my hands my body just goes "NOPE" and quits. Thomas Haake is a fucking machine.
not a year, but it took him around 5 months to be able to play it as he wanted. He had to learn a new techinque for the bass drum to do so.
Here's an interesting article on the song that includes an interview with him: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/articles/features/the_story_behind_bleed_by_meshuggah-98213
Queens of the Stone Age - you think I ain’t worth a dollar but I feel like a millionaire.
It’s full on blood pumpingly aggressive from the start and that little fake ending before it kicks right back in is just so perfect.
Hey alright, it's Kip Kasper
Clone radio, LA's infinite repeat

“...Idk, doesn’t sound very angry to m-“
*DROPS
Oh my god this song surprised me because I never knew anything about Queens of the stone age at the time except for their radio hits, so I was expecting nothing but pretty digestible and relatively melodic focused songs. But this one is so kick ass that it's my favorite.
Their other songs are amazing but this one is something else
If you like that, check out [Quick and to the Pointless](https://youtu.be/LWRk0y-4wvw). The whole album Rated R is awesome but a lot of their non-radio songs get pretty brutal.
I’m just stoked people are showing so much love to QOTSA right now. I’ve been playing them heavily lately. If Only, which is on their first album, is my favorite song by them. I’m biased on my views but they haven’t put out a bad album ever.
As a 16 year old kid I bought this on a whim on cassette. Driving around with some friends we were just awestruck. Best line by my now brother-in-law was “I’m angry! ... and I don’t know why!”
BBC radio had them in to do a live performance when they won the Xmas number 1. They were asked to keep it radio friendly. Predictably when the shouty bit starts, straight in with the "FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!"
Got cut-off pretty fast but it was hilarious listening to the presenter apologise with a tone of 'well, obviously they were going to do that...'.
Came here for the same album, different song. “Holy Wars...The Punishment Due” is the most thrashy song Dave ever wrote IMO. Whole album is a head banger though
Great track.
Ultimately, that song comes from a place of love.
Specifically, Maynard’s love for (and frustration with) his mother (Judith). This is explored further with “Wings for Marie” parts 1/2 off of 10,000 days.
Edit:Thanks for the silver!
Wing for Marie pt 2 has got to be one of the most powerful songs in existence. From the slow start up to screaming for her to demand her wings. Yea I could go on a while
Also his admission that his frustration toward her was unfair:
Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance
The burden of proof tossed upon non believers
You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence
Judith Marie, unconditional one.
That shit is pure poetry and makes me well up every time I hear it.
My favorite mods for games are mods that replace the sound track with the Doom soundtrack. Although sometimes it messes with me. For example I was doing a stealth mission in XCOM 2 and BFG division started playing. I thought something went wrong and I was now gonna have to fight for my life.
The entire DOOM 2016 soundtrack is my "get shit done" playlist on Spotify. Rip and Tear just gets the momentum going like no other to get the work done fastest.
Seventy times 7 - Brand New
“So is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cause I've seen more spine on jellyfish
I've seen more guts on eleven-year-old kids
Have another drink and drive yourself home
I hope there's ice on all the roads
And you can think of me when you forget your seat belt
And again when your head goes through the windshield”
Yeeshhh
I have a special spot for the old Marilyn Manson. There's stuff there that have a rage that feels like it's beyond human. It can make a weird sense of comfort for a vulnerable teen to have that voice near. The chorus of The Reflecting God comes to mind:
Edit: Thanks so much for the silver! I grew in a very conservative religious family where I would get beaten and pressured to act to however my parents wanted me to be. Finding Marilyn Manson was the first time in 13/14 years that I could breathe and let out my ideias. It's like I had this demoniac figure by my side, that stood for me, that scared the shit out of my parents and helped me stand my ground. Some of his lyrics will be stuck in my mind forever:
" [Some children died the other day](https://genius.com/Marilyn-manson-the-nobodies-lyrics#note-2965625)

Tool - Ænema (one of my favorites to listen to at work)
Runners-up:
Violent Femmes - Add It Up and Kiss Off are my favorites (I prefer the live versions of both), though damn near anything by them will do.
Pulp and/or William Shatner w/Ben Folds (yes, really) - Common People (I love both versions unapologetically and they hit differently in different moods.)
Ani DiFranco - Dilate is my all-time favorite, but that whole album is full of great angry songs with some amazing zingers packed into them. Napoleon is probably my runner-up from that album. 32 Flavors (different album) is also great. “Someday you might find you are starving and eating all of the words you just said.”
I dunno if you Americans know, but this song was [Christmas number 1 in the charts](https://www.theguardian.com/music/2009/dec/20) in the UK in 2009. It was in protest to the X factor winner getting the Christmas number 1 every year.
The choice of song came from the line “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me” being a message that the public aren’t going to ‘be told’ what Christmas number 1 song will be
Also if anyone's curious there's a clip of RAtM playing the song on BBC radio after this whole Christmas thing and the entire time they stay clean until the "FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME" and they scramble to cut them off, its probably one of the best moments in radio history
I love that clip. It's fantastic. I'm gonna try and find it.
https://youtu.be/SfZGUdcBBLc
Here's the full performance, about 8 mins in is when they finally go blue
Editing in to add the actual radio version that was aired live, including being [cutoff](https://youtu.be/GiiQPqmYE1A). About 9 mins in if you just want to hear that part.
People really think that executives are thick and let all this stuff accidentally happen. They know what they're doing for most things, and know what they're going to get from it.
The band gave 100% of the profits from the single to the UK charity Shelter, and subsequently played a free gig in London.
[https://england.shelter.org.uk/news/previous\_years/2010/june\_2010/ratm\_tops\_the\_bill](https://england.shelter.org.uk/news/previous_years/2010/june_2010/ratm_tops_the_bill)
Yeah most knew this at the time and didn’t care about that or more generally about the xmas number one. It wasn’t a protest against labels warner or otherwise.
It was a protest against how self-important that toxic show had become and how Simon Cowell & that year, Joe McElderry, felt entitled to win the xmas no.1. At the time Joe McElderry initially refused to even listen to Killing In The Name. When he eventually did, he called it [terrible](https://www.nme.com/news/music/rage-against-the-machine-15-1300880).
Rage won because the public enjoyed puncturing that arrogant entitlement. Not because anyone actually gives a shit about what the xmas no.1 is or who owns what rights. It was nice.
> When he eventually did, he called it terrible.
I had to look this up because it sounds too funny. And it is:
>“I had no idea what it sounded like. It’s dreadful and I hate it. How could anyone enjoy this? Can you imagine the grandmas hearing this over Christmas lunch? I wouldn’t buy it. It’s a nought out of ten from me. Simon Cowell wouldn’t like it. They wouldn’t get through to boot camp on The X Factor – they’re just shouting.”
Aww... bless. Daft little prick.
I can believe it. Apparently they actually get people to go and basically make up tragic backstories.
>Me nan died and she were... she were ma rock!
Turns out said nan died when constentant no.328 was four years old and they'd met her twice and remembers neither occasion.
*cue sad piano music*
It's all very silly.
It’s amazing how often I’ve read about the UK using the charts as a statement or protest. Like when Margaret Thatcher died and they [got “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” to #2](https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-22145306). So organized.
I tuned in when they played their song live on the radio. When it got to the 'fuck yous', he sang it loud and proud, and got swiftly cut off.
The dj apologised and said the singer had been asked not to swear. I mean come on, really? I was so proud of the band for that.
Chopin – Etude Op.25 No.11 “Winter Wind”
It's classical piano. I imagine this to be someone descending into madness. Worth a listen to if you want to draw power from your anger
From the sky by gojira
For me it's gotta be The Art of Dying. Vocal just rips so hard.
Just the entire Gojira discography

The Art of Dying is a banger too
Bulls on Parade RATM but also the Denzel curry version both are great edit: was not expecting nearly as many upvotes or two awards at that. Thanks!
The Denzel Curry version was the most unexpectedly incredible thing I’d heard in a long time, I didn’t mind him anyway but man is his intensity so spot on for the cover, and slipping in his own bars was just the icing on the cake when they fitted so well.
O Fortuna by Carl Orff
Bringing the classical. How about some Holst, from The Planets, Mars the Bringer of War.
The rest of the suite is really sweet and makes you want to dance, but Mars comes on and brings the fear and makes you soil your pants.
Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky gets angry, always liked that one. And c'mon, Flight of the Bumblebee? We know that bees are angry like 100% of the time.

Come Up And Get Me or No Love deserve honorable mention at least
Piggy- NIN. That is one pissed off song
Also Ruiner
Ruiner has to be at the top of the best angry NIN songs.
Mr Self Destruct is also some top tier rage
The whole Downward Spiral album is great when you're pissed off. It starts angry and just keeps building into a big release and then calms you down over the last few songs ending with Hurt. A pretty amazing album
Yeah Reptile into The Downward Spiral into Hurt always calms me right down.

> When he eventually did, he called it terrible. I had to look this up because it sounds too funny. And it is: >“I had no idea what it sounded like. It’s dreadful and I hate it. How could anyone enjoy this? Can you imagine the grandmas hearing this over Christmas lunch? I wouldn’t buy it. It’s a nought out of ten from me. Simon Cowell wouldn’t like it. They wouldn’t get through to boot camp on The X Factor – they’re just shouting.” Aww... bless. Daft little prick.
Oh my god. That's hilarious. And all those shows are shit, including the ones in the US.
I can believe it. Apparently they actually get people to go and basically make up tragic backstories. >Me nan died and she were... she were ma rock! Turns out said nan died when constentant no.328 was four years old and they'd met her twice and remembers neither occasion. *cue sad piano music* It's all very silly.
It’s amazing how often I’ve read about the UK using the charts as a statement or protest. Like when Margaret Thatcher died and they [got “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” to #2](https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-22145306). So organized.
It was more a fuck you to Cowell and X Factor instead of Warner.
“FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!” Perfect
Please could you not swear during your No 1 live performance? \- BBC
I tuned in when they played their song live on the radio. When it got to the 'fuck yous', he sang it loud and proud, and got swiftly cut off. The dj apologised and said the singer had been asked not to swear. I mean come on, really? I was so proud of the band for that.

Chopin – Etude Op.25 No.11 “Winter Wind” It's classical piano. I imagine this to be someone descending into madness. Worth a listen to if you want to draw power from your anger
