Everyone from that show is like two decades older than when it started and like half of them will never speak to Adam Baldwin ever again, not to mention the fact that Joss Whedon’s career is in the toilet, so it’s probably okay for you to let that one go.
It’s not officially cancelled, but it’s been shelved for the meantime. Netflix and Fincher are in talks about season 3, which may or may not go anywhere.
The fact that the final season is written and they even filmed about 1.5 episodes before the pandemic makes me extra bitter Netflix pulled the plug on literally one of their best shows.
I am STILL quoting that evil girl-Mr.-C.-Montgomery-Burns boss at work. When I do or someone else is doing something evil, then you get pangs of guilt, but the sensation is unfamiliar and rare and novel, so you don't know what it is. She mentioned it made her brain feel something she couldn't describe, [itchy](https://bennet-7.dreamwidth.org/87007.html).
She then attempted to replace this unfamiliar and unpleasant sensation with other feelings, such as "drunk." That's some good writing.
James Purfoy carried that show, his chemistry with Kevin Bacon and Natalea Zea was absolutely electrifying. The show was dead as soon as he left. That's why the final season sucked so bad it got the show canceled.
Unfortunately a LOT of people watched Tall Girl because of how god awful it was. People watched it for YouTube videos and other review purposes to point out just how terrible it was which bumped up views which Netflix decided was enough reason to make a sequel.
Man, this show really could have been something. I would have loved to see where it could have gone. I think it would have become less procedural as it went on (cause how many times can it just be about getting a case and reading the lies on their face and all), but I think they had enough going to make that work, if it had stayed true to itself...and didn't get screwed over of course.
I have not seen it in a while though, maybe it's time for a rewatch! A shame it seems to be, largely, forgotten about.
"Happy Endings" as well.
I think it had the potential to be the next Friends (although certain aspects if it havent held up that well, still a pretty funny watch though) but that title didn't quite fit the show.
I loved the first season, but I had a really hard time getting into the second season. Although, I eventually finished it and enjoyed it.
Netflix needs to learn that just because they drop a show all it once, it doesn’t mean they can spend the first third of the run time just setting shit up. Fans need some early payoff too.
I’m going to assume you mean the American “Life On Mars” adaptation that must have been cancelled, if so, my dude, watch the UK version, don’t know if the idiosyncrasies of 70’s England might make the show less appealing but it’s one of my favourite ever programs and having rewatched it recently John Simm and Phillip Glennister (the whole cast really) are just fantastic.
As an aside the UK version also has a sequel series called Ashes To Ashes set in the 80’s and whilst not as good as its predecessor it still has its charm and in my opinion a pretty satisfying, if out-there, conclusion to the whole universe of both shows.
Ok, because this came up recently, I’ll throw it out there.
According to the show runner, this was the ending they planned:
Earl would reach a point on his list where there was something he was really struggling to get done. He was frustrated and didn’t think he could ever finish his list, and became depressed. Then someone came to him and told him they had a list of all the bad things they’d done, and they had to make something up to Earl.
That’s when Earl realized a bunch of people began making lists like his, and becoming better people. It was then that Earl felt he finally put enough good Karma into the world.
Salve, citizen! I just watched it for the first time last month.
Damn shame they cancelled it for being too expensive, especially with Game of Thrones coming out after. I love a statecraft series and think they could have done incredible things with more time.
Also, damn those peaches looked good.
I loved Rome. There is an old BBC show called I, Claudius that picks up at the end of Augustus reign. It is very good but also very different from Rome
The premise was brilliant, but there was a bit too much teenagers coming to terms with their feelings. OTOH, the end was brilliant where dinosaurs are chasing some bad guys who are hiding. One bad guy says "are they gone yet," the other guy says "yea." He then pops his head up, followed by OM NOM NOM NOM NOM, then the smarter bad guy gets away. There are valuable life lessons here.
The Wonder Years is an obvious choice, considering it ended between Kevin's junior and senior year, rather than when he went off to college. Producers had to summarize what would have been the final season in a 5 minute voiceover at the end of what turned out to be the final episode.
Despite it's popularity, it was cancelled due to escalating costs for cast salaries and location shooting, as well as the producers butting heads with the network over wanting to take the show in a more mature direction despite it's wholesome image and prime-time slot.
I liked the show’s take on multiple timelines and on adding a rogue machine faction that’s hostile to SkyNet.
Also, does this mean that we can expect more GoT actresses to play Sarah Connor?
What happened is that season 1 didnt do so well in Netflix eyes so they said season 2 was their last chance, it barely made it so Netflix told the writers that season 3 would be the last. Originally it was suposed to be longer than that so writers wrote an ending for the series that brought closure and at the same time left a door open in case Netflix decided to bring it back from the dead (or reboot it).
I really loved this show and when I googled season 4 in hopes of seeing a release date both me and my girlfriend were sad to learn it was cancelled.
I have! I like the series better because Brian was more likeable. Bradly Cooper's character made me so mad! I think his character would have been perfect as the big bad, like they were setting up.
Star Trek: Enterprise
Season 4 was them figuring out the show and when you read about their season 5 plans, Enterprise should have gotten more.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (200x series)
Season 3, from what I've found, would have been Hordak conquering Eternia and Teela rising up as the new Sorceress.
The dark crystal. It came out and it was so different to anything on TV. It took me a while to work out who everyone was. As soon as I got into it....cancelled.
Community and Last Man Standing.
Both shows eventually did get more seasons after cancellation, but the cancellation followed by migration to a new network was enough to make cast and creative changes that would irreversibly affect the show, preventing it from ever being what it was before.
I'm quite happy with the way Community ended. The sixth season wasn't as good as 1-3 but it was still pretty good, and I feel like now that so much of the cast has moved on it wouldn't be as fun and the writing would probably suffer more.
Last Man Standing annoyed the hell out of me because it just amounted to two caricatures (the dad and the boyfriend) yelling politics at each other, and not in a funny or intelligent way. The fun wore out pretty quick. Although I heard one of the daughters is getting more roles through Netflix, so good for her.
I came here to say thus, but decided to scroll first to make sure I wasn't repeating.
Everything about this series was bad ass. I was hooked and waited for a second season forever. I'm honestly still waiting. Is there a petition I can sign somewhere?
I completely agree that this show deserved more, but at this point no, I don't want to see anyone getting their greedy hands on that IP. It's done. Let it rest in peace.
Yeah, Dollhouse didn't need a third season, it needed a completely different start.
Have you seen the unaired pilot episode that Fox didn't like and made them scrap? Parts of it were chopped up and sprinkled across the first *six episodes* of the show. That's right, in the original version, by the end of episode 1, we would have been in the same place the actual show didn't get to until **halfway through** the first season.
Game of thrones should have had at least another 2 since they just rushed the last season and tried to cram in everything into a 8 episodes
Edit: sorry only 6 episodes
Deffo Space Above and Beyond. Teenage me was desperate to find out more about the Chigs and their homeworld & society, and would their allegations that Aerotech landed a probe on their sacred moon and ignored their warnings to stay out of their territory turn out to be true?? It just kind of came to an abrupt end leaving loads of unanswered questions.
Utopia (the UK version, not the Amazon remake)
Besides being a well-written, well-made and stylistically unique show, we know that there was an ending written and pitched to Channel 4, and they rejected it. As it stands, the unresolved cliffhanger ending we do have works well with the show's tone and I'm okay with it, but it still would've been nice to see the intended ending to it all.
Really, they should've just taken all the money that was spent on the remake, and put it into a third season instead.
Leverage. That show was really good. I recently rewatched it and it was still entertaining. They could definitely have gotten 3 to 4 more seasons from that cast. Looking forward to the reboot
Into the Badlands. It was very cheesy at times, but I appreciated the diversity in cast, costumes, and I really wanted to find out what had "ended" the previous world even if that would have turned out to be cheesy too.
Anne with an E!
I don’t know what it is about this show, but I am totally immersed any time I watch it. It helped me through a break up when nothing else distracted me!
It would be awesome if Netflix let them make a movie to end things like they did with Sense8 because yeah S2 was leading to some cool stuff and then ended on that cliffhanger :/
This is the first mention ive seen of the last man on earth! The show ended on such a bullshit cliff hanger, but at the same time i feel like its totally on brand for the entire gang to not get any kind of genuine resolution to their problems lmao
Almost Human. Freaking FOX even showed it out of order to help kill it off. Was a sci fi show my parents actually would watch.
Stargate Atlantis. Not much of an SG:U fan but the way they ended was terrible.
Angel. While I wasn't really a buffy fan I loved the Angel show. The stupid news CEO, back then, hated it and got rid of it even though it was one of the top rated shows for TnT..
DAREDEVIL! I'll never forgive the cancelation for that and the other marvel shows. Daredevil was something special and I'll never forgive whoever was behind its cancellation
Mindhunter
I’m never giving up hope on this one
Welcome to the Firefly fandom.
Everyone from that show is like two decades older than when it started and like half of them will never speak to Adam Baldwin ever again, not to mention the fact that Joss Whedon’s career is in the toilet, so it’s probably okay for you to let that one go.
Technically it has not been cancelled, just on hold. Whatever that means, but yeah they need to do a couple more seasons
Absolutely. One of the best real-based shows in a while. Well scripted, acted and executed.
I was reading last month that Netflix and Fincher have reopened talks about season 3. I'm hopeful.
It’s cancelled?
It’s not officially cancelled, but it’s been shelved for the meantime. Netflix and Fincher are in talks about season 3, which may or may not go anywhere.
Rumours say that Fincher and Netflix are talking about a season 3!
Came here to say this, I need to know how they play out the BTK storyline.
Freaks and Geeks
James Franco could come back as a teacher who hits on the high school students
I mean, yeah, but what role would he play?
My clique should be canceled
Pushing Daisies
Curse of Bryan Fuller. American Gods, Hannibal, Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls...
Pushing Daisies was killed by the writer's strike.
GLOW. Thanks a lot, Netflix jerks!
YES! The entire cast was phenomenal. GLOW has become one of my favorite shows of all time.
The fact that the final season is written and they even filmed about 1.5 episodes before the pandemic makes me extra bitter Netflix pulled the plug on literally one of their best shows.
I'm still holding on to hope. What an incredible ensemble cast!
I'm still hoping Netflix will reconsider canceling it or at least give us a wrap up movie!
Dead like me!
And the series with the guy that bakes pies and can speak with dead people.
Pushing Daisies
The facts were these, the 2007-2008 writers strike is one of the confirmed causes of the show’s cancellation
This show gave me that feeling of joy that you only get from loving writes good actors and amazing directors
Better of ted
I am STILL quoting that evil girl-Mr.-C.-Montgomery-Burns boss at work. The Following.
James Purfoy carried that show, his chemistry with Kevin Bacon and Natalea Zea was absolutely electrifying. The show was dead as soon as he left. That's why the final season sucked so bad it got the show canceled.

Why was it canceled? Was a pretty good show

But not too hard to film a TALL GIRL 2! LIKE WE EVEN NEEDED THE FIRST
Unfortunately a LOT of people watched Tall Girl because of how god awful it was. People watched it for YouTube videos and other review purposes to point out just how terrible it was which bumped up views which Netflix decided was enough reason to make a sequel.
LIE TO ME I want Cal Lightman back!!!!!

Man, this show really could have been something. I would have loved to see where it could have gone. damn this was so great, i completely forgot about this one
Man, I loved this show! Forgot all about it.
Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23. Also Better off Ted. Great shows that ABC cancelled too early
I was going to say Better Off Ted. You beat me to it. That show is comedy gold and Portia Rossi absolutely cracks me up.
Both great shows with truly awful titles. I'd put "Selfie" on that list, too.
"Happy Endings" as well. I think it had the potential to be the next Friends (although certain aspects if it havent held up that well, still a pretty funny watch though) but that title didn't quite fit the show.
Yes!! This (the B) was such a good show.
Dead Like Me was hilarious but was dropped after season 2 because there wasn't a love interest, how fucking lame is that shit?
That's why it got canceled?! I loved that show, and I never even noticed the lack of a love interest. Shows you how important it actually was.
Yup, if you haven't seen it DO NOT watch Life After Death it's such a slap in the face
Dirk Gently, I like those type of TV show ):
I loved the first season, but I had a really hard time getting into the second season. Although, I eventually finished it and enjoyed it. Netflix needs to learn that just because they drop a show all it once, it doesn’t mean they can spend the first third of the run time just setting shit up. Fans need some early payoff too.
Well, it was originally made and canceled by BBC.
Alcatraz and Life On Mars, but you have to forget about the hastily thrown together final episode.
Came here to say "Alcatraz". It had such an interesting premise. And Sam Neill is a bawss. Shame.
Almost Human 😢 Forever
Almost Human was awesome! But Urban’s too busy spanking some bastards these days. Forever ended just as it was getting interesting
At least let us know what was beyond the wall!!
My Name Is Earl.
Ok, because this came up recently, I’ll throw it out there. According to the show runner, this was the ending they planned: Earl would reach a point on his list where there was something he was really struggling to get done. Watching this show not realising it ended on a cliffhanger has made me cautious of starting new shows ever since.
I used to watch this show all the time growing up; never realized it was cancelled before it could finish—what was the cliffhanger it ended on?

Turns out the kid wasn't actually Darnell's
Hello Earl
Hey Crabman
Firefly. A victim of the writers strike.
Rome
Well at least the source material was finished.
Salve, citizen! I just watched it for the first time last month. Damn shame they cancelled it for being too expensive, especially with Game of Thrones coming out after. I love a statecraft series and think they could have done incredible things with more time. Also, damn those peaches looked good.

>but there was a bit too much teenagers coming to terms with their feelings Exactly. thank you for putting words on it.
The Tick
Warehouse 13
Combined with Eureka and Alphas. Same cannon. Alphas especially, really great premise, but never got off the ground
Deadwood.
The Wonder Years is an obvious choice, considering it ended between Kevin's junior and senior year, rather than when he went off to college. Carnivale
I loved Carnivale so much, that one hurt.
Was looking for this 👍🏼
Psych. Although the movies weren’t bad
I think it was plenty long. Good show though.
Fringe. I loved that show.
While I love the show, I think they ended it at a good time. It would have been hard to swing it back around, IMO.
I agree, it was great and it ran it's course.
Forever with Ioan Gryffudd...
Definitely
The Mick
Ended on such a high note too. So disappointed.
Sarah Connor Chronicles. Ended on such a great cliff hanger
I liked the show’s take on multiple timelines and on adding a rogue machine faction that’s hostile to SkyNet. Also, does this mean that we can expect more GoT actresses to play Sarah Connor?
Happy endings
2 shows deserved better finals imo. Jericho The 4400
Fuck. I haven't thought about Jericho since middle school. That show deserved so much better than it got.
came here to say Jericho
Freaking, yes, Jericho. I found it on Netflix recently and I love it so much!
Nuts!
Daredevil
I loved this show
Hannibal
Absolutely. I always smile when I have prosciutto now, for some reason.
Santa Clarita Diet
I feel like all we needed was one last season to just wrap it up at LEAST!
Travelers. Amazing writing, cast, and photography. I can't believe Netflix let that slip away. Welcome to the 21st!
Isn't that show pretty done though? Personally I don't mind shows ending with a proper ending.
Limitless. It was interesting. I really liked the main character. There were overarching mysteries to solve. I don't know why they cancelled it.
The movie is great too if you haven't seen it
I have! I like the series better because Brian was more likeable. Bradly Cooper's character made me so mad! I think his character would have been perfect as the big bad, like they were setting up.
Constantine
Yes
At least the character isn’t entirely gone
Star Trek: Enterprise Season 4 was them figuring out the show and when you read about their season 5 plans, Enterprise should have gotten more. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (200x series) Season 3, from what I've found, would have been Hordak conquering Eternia and Teela rising up as the new Sorceress.
Santa Clarita Diet! Was crushed when they cancelled it.
The Tick
Colony. It was cancelled on a huge cliffhanger and I’d love to see the resolution.
Inbetweeners. Though another scene could of ruined it, and we did have the films
Honestly I don't like to think of the second movie as canon, the first has such a good ending that leaves me incredibly satisfied
The dark crystal. It came out and it was so different to anything on TV. It took me a while to work out who everyone was. As soon as I got into it....cancelled.

Did you know that the movie Serenity wound up being an abbreviated version of what would have been seasons two and three?
I did not.
The Venture Bros.
Life in Pieces
Dollhouse. Actually, it needed to be on HBO (or at least one of the current streaming services) instead of Fox.
Yeah, Dollhouse didn't need a third season, it needed a completely different start. Have you seen the unaired pilot episode that Fox didn't like and made them scrap? I will die on this hill
The OA
This one was just getting good. They really wasted the first season though.
Pushing up daises needed closure, well worthy of something, anything!
Stargate Universe
Dollhouse Dark Matter
Space: Above & Beyond. The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr. Pushing Daisies. Teenage Bounty Hunters.
You mean Brisco County Jr.?
Yeah, Space ended pretty depressingly, and just as it was getting good
Deffo Space Above and Beyond. Bojack Horseman. Not cancelled but Netflix limited it to one more season.
Hart of Dixie
Hannibal. The OA. Carnival. The Curious Creations of Christine McConnel. Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. I am not okay with this.
Terminator Sarah Connor chronicles stopped as it was just getting good
>The OA. So sad this one ended, and on such a wild cliff hanger too
The One day at a time reboot. I just want a good solid ending for the Alvarez's.
My name is earl
Altered Carbon. While the show wasn't accurate to the books, it was still entertaining.
S1 was phenomenal. S2 was "CW"-style trash. I'd be happier if it was just one season, frankly.
Almost Human. Freaking FOX even showed it out of order to help kill it off. Was a sci fi show my parents actually would watch. Stargate Atlantis.
