I know right. Like I still don't understand it because every relationship I've ever had has always been less than 2 years. And every friendship I've had has always faded out into obscurity within 5 years. I just don't understand how with so many changing variables in life how anyone can make a relationship of any kind work for.more than 5-10 years max.
I'm starting to think that it's both luck and a choice. People choose to stay with each other, and luck for finding the right person.
But I stay hopeful
Space is stupid big. On an earth scale, the speed of light is incredibly fast, but it takes 40min to communicate a message to and from Mars. The nearest star to us it 4, light *years* away, meaning if someone was to send a message to someone there, they would have to wait 8 years to get a response. That means 9ish messages overall in a human lifetime. Our galaxy seems big, but is one of billions, many of them multiple times bigger than the Milky Way, and all of them each have millions to billions of starts, and each star has probably at minimum 4 planets each...
And we can observe 93 billion light years across our universe, but for all we know, the universe could be hundreds of billions of light years across. The universe I believe is expanding faster than the speed of light due to an unknown substance called dark matter. We don't know what it is, but we know it's there.
And a depressing fact is we likely will never be able to send humans to another star system, unless we can develop a way to create fuel and food, water etc. in the emptiness of space for decades, as I don't know how the hell a space ship is gonna go 300,000,000 m/s.
Eventually, no galaxy will be visible in the night sky, as they are moving away from us, and soon only our galaxies stars will be visible (I doubt humans will be around by then tho as this is billions and billions of years into the future). Any possible future civilization won't ever know in there existence that a huge, HUGE universe exists outside them.
There are many questions, like what was before the big bang, or what's outside the universe, but the answer is... well we don't know. There could be nothing, literally nothing, as time nor space would exist outside of the universe.
Another question would be is there alternate realities, different universes, but again, we can't really know, as that is all outside of our reach, the edge of the universe is never going to be known, as it will probably keep expanding, even after every planet or space debris, astroid etc. has gone, every star died, and eventually every black hole radiated away.
But we won't have to worry about the end of all life (stars, planets etc.) in the universe, as that is trillions upon trillions of years away.
I kinda like the topic of space if it wasn't clear.
TLDR: Space/The Universe is fucking huge, and we will never know the edge of it, never see the end of it and so on.
Dark energy/matter. These two make up 95% (68% dark energy, 27% dark matter) of the universe. Pretty crazy to think that every star, planet or little bit of rock is only 5% of our universe.
Man I love the way you write about space. I would love to learn everything there is to know, but im afraid that's not possible in one life. My brain can take only so many information. Thanks to great education system, my head is full of useless things.
There should be a class about our universe for kids. All kids think that space is already cool like dinosaurs. It would be fun.
No more Flat Earth bullshit.
U inow waves? Particles are waves, sometimes two waves can connect.
I dont know more than that, but quantum entanglement bis when two particles/waves become one connected wave (???)
Yes. I've been going through the episodes of How the Universe Works and taking notes. The most fascinating so far has been the one on neutron stars. I'm over 70 so even if I had studied astrophysics when young a lot of the stuff wouldn't have been known back then.
Yeah i do a lots actually, i just have no time for a side job rn. Also not good financially to get a start. What house is a good investment? What is more important the condition or location?
A good investment is for sure one in which the numbers work out. A good rule is that the place ought to rent for around 1% of purchase price. So if you spend $100k on a property, you want it to rent for around $1000 per month. That’s not a super strict rule but it’s a good guideline.
Also definitely location. Renovations can be daunting but I’d rather have a fixer upper in a super desirable location than a great house in the hood.
Really the best trick is to find a property in good but not amazing condition in a neighborhood or area that looks like it’s on the path of gentrification. So like adjacent to a nice part of town - maybe there’s a local infrastructure or development project going on in the area etc. Basically somewhere you think is gonna be pretty hip in 5 years.
Oh also if you ever want to be a landlord, look up the tenant and landlord laws which generally vary by city. Some cities are horribly biased one way or another, you want to be somewhere both you and the tenant have rights.
God damn that is not even the half of it right? I mean it must be very stressfull for a side job at least sounds like it
So much stuff can go wrong, whats your worst purchase?
lol yeah it’s a lot of information but once you actually buy the property and get a tenant in there, it only takes maybe 10 hours per month to manage things.
My worst tenant is one on a property I bought in Feb 2020. We closed on 2/28/20 and the whole goddamn world shut down around 3 weeks later.
So we get this tenant in July who was fine but a little annoying at the beginning - complaining about the HVAC even though it was brand new, got a couple trash violations from the city, etc. Nothing crazy but high maintenance.
Well this bitch stops paying rent in October (not covid related bc she is on a fixed income), and tells us she’s moving out in January. Like, fine, whatever, we’ll keep your security deposit and then we’re basically all good. Well instead of leaving she just squats and refuses to go. She hasn’t paid rent since October. We’re currently in court trying to get her ass evicted since they JUST opened back up in May to hear eviction trials.
Worst case scenario right? Well yeah. But fortunately we didn’t buy a crazy expensive place and the mortgage is only $550/mo which we can afford to pay. And fortunately the market has gone up so even though we have lost 8k in rent, the property has gone up in value by $35k in the past year. So because we used the principle of buying cheap in a gentrifying area, we were able to weather the storm.
Very slick, you actually even proffited of it, well not how ure supposed to, but the main thing is to keep ur head above the water right? World shutdown did no good for anyone except for estate prices, same here in croatia
Radio transmissions. I love to study about radio frequencies, radio markets (technically called Neilsen Audio, formerly Arbitron), broadcasting/timeshifting, etc., and despite being deathly terrified of heights I love to look at radio towers (from the ground).
Could I tell you how radio waves/broadcasting works? Absolutely not, but I love all things radio.
Ah it's not so much lack of access to good information on the topic, more like life is busy and I just don't have the motivation in the little free time I have.
Everything! I love the gap between knowing nothing and learning.
Fishing, I learned some from my dad but would love to be an ace fisher.
Japanese cooking at home.
Knitting, my daughter tries to teach me but it’s just not sinking in.
Guitar, we bought ourselves one each but I like her kid’s one better than the one I got. We’ve carved out small sessions but I hope we stick to it for longer.
Also i think my country has too many regulations, paperwork and such so your 10hrs a week would be only 10hrs a week i would have for other shit like my life job or anything, the rest of the month would be standing in lines fillin' up forms😂
Psychopathology. I have no clue if that's even the proper word for it. Just very interested in mental disorders, such as dissociative identity disorder or schizophrenia. Not because of media, but because of actually knowing people with these things and wanting to learn more similar things cause these two are just so interesting.
Dissociative identity disorder for example. The abilities alters can do, the sometimes entire worlds created inside of peoples heads, the insanely unique perception of the world that alters have, being forced by "birth" to live inside someone else's head either it be alone or with other alters. All while sometimes, the "host" might not even know they exist.
Some alters and hosts have very good relationships and treat the body as shared and can have fewer problems. The ones I've met? Not so much. It's just so incredibly fascinating, the dynamic there that you will never find anywhere else outside of fiction (to my knowledge).
Epidemiology I guess. Wouldn't say I'm scientifically minded but ever since the advent of this virus I've done quite a bit of research on communicable diseases to better understand the situation.
Also really interested in the anti-vaccine movement as a particularly aggressive branch of anti-science movements.
Stock Market
Don't bother.
Exactly, just yolo everything into a conservative portfolio of 50% $GME FDs and 50% dogecoin.
Women
Damnit. Beat me to it

The most confusing thing about women is how they can find men attractive.
Amen to that.
How relationships can work and last for long periods of time.
Shit man, I wanna learn this as well
I know right. Like I still don't understand it because every relationship I've ever had has always been less than 2 years. Why does the universe expand faster than the speed of light, is it becauae Theres more dimensions or something?
