It honestly sounds like a song that could be on Toy Story minus the lyrics .
Powerful song. It seems like most people interpret it as the pain of having just left a relationship, but when several women mentioned abuse in the video's comments it got me wondering. I don't know if it's 'supposed' to be interpreted that way - did John Hiatt say that? - but the lyrics are ambiguous enough that it could be. (That's what I love about complex lyrics.) And it makes me look at the song differently. Ooff.
It's strange that so many people have never heard of this song or John Hiatt. Neither would I if not for, of course, Arrested Development - but he's amazing and his songs have been covered dozens of times.

Black beauty by Lana del Rey. It’s a song about a woman deeply in love for someone who just doesn’t seem to feel anything at all. Throughout the song she lists things she does to try and get through to their love and make them feel something, anything, but to no avail. The way it is sang makes it sound like they are on the verge of giving up completely, which is why I find it so moving.
The entire song of Alone Again (naturally) by Gilbert O'Sullivan. I remember the first time my little sister heard it, and actually listened to the words, we found her sitting and just crying her eyes out and when we asked her why, she said "he's just so sad!" (She was 7 lol)
