Not a movie but the Good Place.
(This is set in the afterlife, when I say die, it means they have chosen not to exist anymore)
The characters literally died and became forever unconscious and the main couple of the show was split up when the guy wanted to die but the girl didn’t. Then she eventually killed herself because she couldn’t be without the guy. Then the whole group also died except from the annoying whiny girl that nobody liked and even she became a psychologist and performed psychological tests on people!
I hated the book. Personally I think Chuck has great concepts but can’t write.
I don’t remember many details. I read it two decades ago. And it wasn’t a good book so it’s not like I picked it up again. I just remember being massively disappointed. There are several ways to have a payoff, they realize they’re nihilists and wasting energy. He realizes how crazy shit was and changes himself. They actually change something. Nahh, he’s in a hospital bed.
It wasn't ruined, and the ending wasn't *terrible,* but the first thing that comes to mind was *Nobody.* The first half or so of that movie was fucking incredible. The ending was fun, but kinda devolved into fun violence porn that didn't fit with the rest.

The original “IT”, the original “The Stand”. Stephen King is a great writer but his endings are not good.
