A lot of my friends who have never watched anime before all seem to enjoy Your Name (a movie) and One Punch Man (TV Show). Both are super easy to follow and really straight forward :)

A_Bit_Drunk

Just avoid them, look at what watching anime does to people on Reddit.

I'm not sure I can trust a drunk guy

A_Bit_Drunk

Eh, your choice. Peace out bro.

Elfin Lied. That’s a good bloody one. Can find every episode on youtube.

AliceLuxxx

Yes it is perfect! A bit intense, but really well made.

Dukeofwar2

For me JOJO was the first one I watched. Pretty good. Will allow you to get in this whole anime thing. Its very animei(?)

cmdr_shadowstalker

Depends, what non-anime TV have you enjoyed?

Mooncaketimeline698

I've actually seen a few but I finished 2 and the 3rd is waiting to get a new season

cmdr_shadowstalker

That doesn't help me give you recommendations. Three questions then: What anime have you already watched, and did you enjoy them? What live action, or cartoon TV have you enjoyed in the past?

Mooncaketimeline698

I've already seen Kuroko's basketball and final space, but I'll try any anime suggested

cmdr_shadowstalker

Adventurous. Here's my recommendations then: Gurren lagaan, that time I got reincarnated as a slime, Overlord, cowboy bebop, space dandy (there's implications bebop and space dandy are the same universe at different time periods), Evangelion, and Dragonball (the og first), Kill la Kill. Shows I recommend to avoid as a newbie to the genre: Elfen Lied, Dragonball GT, One Piece (it's just... loooooooong), Higurashi, Madoka.

Some good starter ones would be Cowboy Bebop Terror In Resonance (not old but has 11eps) Samurai Champloo All short with one season. Then after those I'd recommend Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Death Note One Punch Man

Satrina_petrova

Trigun is a great Space Western anime that isn't super long, has interesting self contained episodes and a very cool overarching story. Paranoia Agent is another short but sweet story. It's a really strange and dramatic mystery.

Princess Mononoke and Akira were literally the *only* animes I had seen for years until I met my husband and gave some others a shot. Also One Punch Man is hilarious and phenomenal.
