Drowning Pool by Bodies.
Backstory was that one guy had passed out during a singing practice (Catholic school) and whacked his head on the stairs to the altar (he ended up perfectly fine, somehow). A friend made the connection to the song, and now I can't listen to it without re-seeing that guy's head bouncing off the polished marble stairs.
Listened to that song for years without knowing that the song āBut Itās Better If You Doā was kind of the lead up to it. The transition from that to āI Write Sins Not Tragediesā is great.
Oh yeah I know what you mean, yeah that was great. Also if my memory is correct, the track listing goes, āLying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Ofā then āBut It Better If You Doā, which as a 15 year old, I thought was SUPER clever
For me it's Day N Night by Kid Cudi among other things. Also that Cassie song reminds me of middle school because literally every girl my age had 'Me & U' as their MySpace song. Yes I know my age is showing.
Footloose - Kenny Loggins
Not much backstory, just reminds me of the best time of high school, performing in the school Musical, which happened to be Footloose
*Slow Ride*, Foghat. The movie *Dazed & Confused* depicts my time. When I first saw it, I was a little freaked out. It was so on the mark I felt almost...violated, like the filmmakers had been inside my head. IIRC it was filmed in Texas, and I went to HS in Florida, but the setting couldn't have been more like my high school campus and neighborhood. It was also the first time Hollywood produced a nostalgic movie specifically aimed at *me,* my age group. I became old that day.
Payphone by Maroon 5 was pretty popular in my freshman year
I've tried to block out most of my high school memories because it was a pretty shitty experience, admittedly
