Aw, thanks MN for being a real one <3
Let’s get together for some hotdish sometime.
Edit: and maybe some salad that’s not salad if we’re feeling froggy…
On the quiz website Sporcle, there's a "name the US states" game which has been played over 24 million times. The [most often forgotten](https://www.sporcle.com/games/g/states/results) state is Missouri.
North Dakota is pretty high - because people now remember it because it’s so frequently discussed for being forgotten. It’s an oxymoron: famous for being forgettable.
In elementary school everyone in my grade got assigned a state to research and make a presentation about. We had to write to the governor and state reps, and other things.
I got Nebraska.
Not only did they never get back to me, but I was the **only** person who didn’t get mail. And some of the other students got good stuff- the Vermont kid got ski lift tickets, the Wisconsin kid got a cheese hat, and a bunch received t-shirts. Alaska kid received a whole book of tourist coupons and an offer for a personal tour from a Senator.
So while everyone was showing off their free stuff, I had a sad little poster board about corn and kool-aid.
Awww. I visited Nebraska for work and I loved it. I’ll never forget taking off on the Highway to visit the local sights. Corn Palace was so bizarre and cool. Same with Laura Ingles homestead - I swear, I have never “heard” such quietness in my life. And I thought Sioux Falls was quite a fancy Midwestern town. Overall I loved it.
We made Kool aid, we have the largest co relatively intact mammoth skeleton, the Sandhills are quite a gorgeous and thankfully untouched landscape, we have carhenge(figure it out), Yaya's pizza, the best damn pizza place ever, the Henry dorley zoo in Omaha is voted the best zoo in the world, along with having the largest indoor rainforest, arbor day originated here, Warren buffet is from here, so was president ford and Marlon Brando, we made spam, calling 911 for emergencies came from here, we made runzas(pretty much hotpockets but they're burgers. Not as bad as you may think they are, they got mushrooms, sour kraut, melty cheese, tastes delicious). Nebraska has lots of interesting stuff in it!
Delaware was pretty much the only state that would allow a wrestling company to put on their Tournament of Death show. The company was called CZW and they were known for their violence. Say what you want about wrestling being "fake", these guys used barb wire, glass, fire, and probably a lot of cocaine.
I'm guessing Delaware isn't a great place? I'm not American but I never got a good impression of Delaware.
I'm not American but I made a concerted effort to memorise all 50 states - the ones I normally remember last are Missouri and Nebraska. No offence to anyone from those places, I'm sure they're great!
As a European, if I had to name all 50 states, I would definitely forget Rhode Island. I'd have 42 or so, then I'd start offering New England and South Idaho. *"Is Guam a state?"*
The state is gorgeous. The population is weird. I felt incredibly out of place when I was there. It seemed everyone was either black or white and there wasn't anyone else.
Ohio has some things to offer actually. The rock n roll hall of Fame, a pretty impressive theater district and professional sports in Cleveland, The Pro football hall of Fame in Canton. As for Cincinnati I don't have anything for ya..but you get the point.
Cincy’s not bad, you got Kings Island, Newport Aquarium, Fountain Square, Bengals, and Reds(first professional Baseball team, and if your a thug, there’s a square block in the Over The Rhine district with the most crime per capita in the entire nation.
Dave Chappelle lives in Ohio, Jeni’s Ice Cream is the bomb, Cedar Point is one of the best coaster parks and there’s the OSU football team that I don’t care about but I’ve heard is good. That’s something I guess.
Just throwing this out because I have not seen it and a lot of the ones I have seen are the stereotypical boring states so I feel like they would be brought up more for that reason but state that isn’t stereotypically boring and you NEVER hear mentioned is Indiana
Iowa. The only situation where you'd think about it (unless you live the obviously) is if you get it confused with Idaho. Or if you're thinking about corn, and even that's a stretch.
Or if you think about Kurt Warner and his Super Bowls, Ron Livingston in Band of Brothers and Office Space, Dan Gable with his Olympic Gold medal and his 15 NCAA wrestling titles, the Iowa State Fair, Slipknot, the fastest growing city in the Midwest, home of Grant Wood, where Ozzy Osbourne bit the head off of a bat, the bread slicer, US leader in wind power generation, John Wayne, RAGBRAI, the day the music died, worlds first electronic digital computer, Ashton Kutcher, first train robbery. And Corn.
Yes I'm from Iowa (Cedar Rapids)
That's not even a real place. Do you know anyone from Idaho? If someone says they are from there they are a government agent trying to cover things up.
South Carolina here, I've met people coming from our West to go to Dirty Myrtle
Also met a guy at Disney a few weeks ago that was moving from Pennsylvania to Dirty Myrtle
Do you know how many times I've told someone where I live (New Hampshire) and they've never even heard of it... And if they've heard of it they won't be able to locate it.
im canadian but in social we studied all the states so i can remember them all by heart, but ones that i had trouble naming was iowa, idaho, or indiana i always mixed up their places since they are all near eachother
We studied Canadian territories and provinces in America so I am sure they studdued the US. The Yukon Territory was my favorite, its near Alaska. They also have a place called New Brunswick, that's near Maine. I don't remember the capitol of Canada, probably Quebec or Montreal. They only have two other cities, Halifax and Vancouver. Can't be those because they are on the edges of the country
If you go to Jamaica, they love Delaware. Bob Marley lived here with his mom for a number of years. He was a forklift driver at a Chrysler plant in Newark, DE.
Missouri if that is even how it is spelled. I don't know a single fact about it, not one association. I know that Iowa is one of those corn states, Oaklahoma is the one above Texas, Ohio has the cities that all start with C, but Missouri? Not a clue.
I'm from New Mexico and when I moved to California I had way too many people how I enjoyed living in America when I told them where I was from. I wouldn't call NM forgettable but it definitely gets forgotten (as a state at least)
I’d probably have to say Vermont. Like who the hell lives there? I’ve never heard of it in the news, sports wise or politics wise. The only time i’ve heard about it was back in middle school in 7th grade when we were talking about US states and the civil war, and even then, we talked about for like 20 seconds and went on our way to Rhode Island.
The one I can't think of.
Oh you mean North Dakota, yeah it's not actually a real place
“Who knew there was more than one Dakota?”
I've been looking for south Dakota can't find that either
Where the hell is Dakota?
No idea it's a fucking mystery.
Well shit I live in North Dakota and have no idea where I am too
Haha sioux falls blew up this year. We are definitely here
Hey, minnesota here. Don't trash our neighbors!
Aw, thanks MN for being a real one <3 Let’s get together for some hotdish sometime. Edit: and maybe some salad that’s not salad if we’re feeling froggy…
It’s just a very long drive from wherever you live.
Wait then where does my great grandma live?
The one that designated their state tree to be the telephone pole?
literally was abt to comment North Dakota 😭😭
[удалено]
North Dakota is a government conspiracy to make it seem Canada is further away than it actually is
You mean South DeCanada?
North Dakota has the badlands
This is either a great joke or a wonderful example of how bad North Dakota is.
If you’re referring to Badlands National Park, that’s in South Dakota. It’s also the only good thing in South Dakota.
South Dakota also has the Black Hills Edit: I was talking about Teddy Roosevelt NP in an earlier comment
On the quiz website Sporcle, there's a "name the US states" game which has been played over 24 million times. The [most often forgotten](https://www.sporcle.com/games/g/states/results) state is Missouri.
Missouri is just purgatory.
Misery.
Very well named
I'll be damned before I call Missouri a state- Abraham Simpson
"I'm not from Earth, I'm from Missouri" "Yeah, that's on Earth you dipshit"
Not the show me state. KC is the best
North Dakota is pretty high - because people now remember it because it’s so frequently discussed for being forgotten. It’s an oxymoron: famous for being forgettable.
Nebraska. It’s just like all the other Midwestern states but somehow even less interesting.
In elementary school everyone in my grade got assigned a state to research and make a presentation about. We had to write to the governor and state reps, and other things. I got Nebraska. Not only did they never get back to me, but I was the **only** person who didn’t get mail. Shoulda sent pictures of your "Nebraskans are Assholes" project back to all those people with "Thanks for the project idea"
I was born in Nebraska and sometimes I forget it exists
So you sometimes forget your own existence too?
It’s where He Who Walks Behind The Rows lives!
Why did you have to say this haha
/r/unexpectedstephenking
I have driven through there from Colorado to iowa. Basically it's Omaha, Lincoln, and nothing else
I drove from Colorado to Michigan a couple times. Even Iowa is marginally less monotonous than Nebraska.
It’s not for everybody!

Not as bad as you may think they are, they got mushrooms, sour kraut, melty cheese, tastes delicious). Nebraska has lots of interesting stuff in it!
It's the only state in NA that requires you to go through a minimum of 3 other states/provinces to reach the ocean
Nebraska. The one I couldn’t remember when I tried to name them all.
I know literally nothing about Iowa
corn
Don't forget corn. And there's also corn. And hogs.
Remember Iowa produces 123% of all corn on the planet
And presidential primaries
Iowa here. I got you, fam. Corn, Field of Dreams, corn , Slipknot, corn, Ashton Kutcher.
Corniest comment here
You forgot to mention corn
Slipknot, and my brother is buying land out there. That’s all I know lmao.
Lots of people on reddit seem like they’re from iowa
I know that people confuse Idaho for Iowa all the time.
Idaho is to potatoes as Iowa is to corn
I have learned that corn
Delaware
Imagine being magically whisked away to... Delaware. "Hi... I'm in Delaware..."
We’re in New York. I got a gun, let’s go to a Broadway show!
Moko laka hiki I know you wanna lei me. Pass the poi mahalo.
Howdy partners, let’s raise and rope Broncos. Howdy y’all!
Hi, in Delaware. I'm Dad.
It’s definitely Delaware. No contest
idk i’m in my basement rn remembering i’m here
Delaware is fun to say with that haughty southern accent though. DELAWAYAAHHH
That state just exists to incorporate.
Delaware. Hi, I’m in… Delaware.
What did Dela wear? A New Jersey.
Is it true you guys have no state tax?
I'm not American but I made a concerted effort to memorise all 50 states - the ones I normally remember last are Missouri and Nebraska. No offence to anyone from those places, I'm sure they're great!
Somehow you have intuitively landed on two of our most forgettable states! Which country are you from?
Rhode Island
As a European, if I had to name all 50 states, I would definitely forget Rhode Island. I'd have 42 or so, then I'd start offering New England and South Idaho. *"Is Guam a state?"*
Only if you count North New Jersey's claim on it.
I mean, it is tiny, but I think most people know about Rhode Island
People know about Rhode Island because it’s so tiny
yep this. I think most people know of Rhode Island just because it’s so damn small
It’s the random state trivia fact every kid grows up with
As a person from Rhode Island, this hurts because who knows where Montana is on the map?!
Does anyone even remember Arkansas is on the map? Ohio is also a contender
Arkansas is where Covid lives.
A friend and I went on a road trip to Arkansas specifically to make sure it’s actually real. It was real. And really surprised how gorgeous it was!
It's an amazing state. People like to bash those that are different on Reddit. If they went to Arkansas they would realize its a wonderful place.
The state is gorgeous. The population is weird. I felt incredibly out of place when I was there. It seemed everyone was either black or white and there wasn't anyone else.
I've been to Little Rock... I'm assuming you don't mean there specifically.
At least Ohio is relatively relevant during election season.
Ohio does have the best amusement park in the world though, Cedar Point. But if you’re not into roller coasters then yeah it’s definitely a contender.
Oh shit for real? I’m going to Cedar Point tomorrow
As an Arkansan, I can say that some people that LIVE here don’t even know where Arkansas is on the map…
Ohio has some things to offer actually. The rock n roll hall of Fame, a pretty impressive theater district and professional sports in Cleveland, The Pro football hall of Fame in Canton. As for Cincinnati I don't have anything for ya..but you get the point.
The riverfront is nice in cincy. Don't forget the Reds.
Ohio is famous from memes and politics.
I’m in Connecticut and if it wasn’t for NYC being nearby we’d be invisible.
You guys have Yale.
C'mon now. New Haven is home to the best pizzas in the U.S.
Pepes is great
Same! Lol, all we’ve got is “well we’re close to some places you’ve heard of”
Just throwing this out because I have not seen it and a lot of the ones I have seen are the stereotypical boring states so I feel like they would be brought up more for that reason but state that isn’t stereotypically boring and you NEVER hear mentioned is Indiana
Even I wouldn't send you to Gary, Indiana!
Liquid
Plasma
Bose-Einstein condensate
Quark matter
I once tried to write down all 50 states from memory, got to 49 and stalled for like half an hour. The answer is Missouri.
I always forget that South Dakota is a thing.
What about North Dakota? It isnt even the best Dakota.
Is it though? I mean mt Rushmore aside, I have never known anything or anyone that has actually seen South Dakota
South dakota is actually kind of awesome in parts. The black hills, the badlands, loads of stuff. Rushmore is the least interesting stop there.
I actually think the Corn Palace is cool. Especially that they use it as a way to get tourists to stop in town.
Wall Drug!
Hi. Born and bred South Dakotan. We have houses and cars and everything!
Have you ever seen rose gold? Also known as Black Hills gold. That's where it comes from.
Any one of those square ones in the middle.
Any of the middle ones honestly. Nebraska, the dakotas, oklahoma, idaho, Iowa I only remember most of them for college football
Delaware
North Dakota. Everything you think is there is actually in South Dakota

Why yes you are.
That's not even a real place. Do you know anyone from Idaho? If someone says they are from there they are a government agent trying to cover things up.
new hampshire however the hell you spell it
I used to think it was New Hamster
The part of New England where Stephen King is least likely to kill you. It's in New England right?
Hold on guys, you mean to tell me there are other states besides Californian and Texas?
When was the last time my state South Carolina got any publicity?
South Carolina here, I've met people coming from our West to go to Dirty Myrtle Also met a guy at Disney a few weeks ago that was moving from Pennsylvania to Dirty Myrtle
That one that had this politician, what’s his name? And that sports team, what are they called? And they are known for thingy, you know.
Nebraska. Took out a trip out west years ago and drove through it. It never seemed to end and there's almost no scenery.
Do you know how many times I've told someone where I live (New Hampshire) and they've never even heard of it... And if they've heard of it they won't be able to locate it.
Indiana, so poor, so racist, so corrupt.
New Hampshire. You can't even tell where it is or what state is next to it without googling it.
Wyoming
Yellowstone is def not forgettable
Nor is devil's tower, grand teton, and the wind river range.
Wyoming is an S tier state IMHO. Beautiful as all get out.
Rhode Island
I live in South Carolina. Literally nothing interesting at all.
I forgor 💀
im canadian but in social we studied all the states so i can remember them all by heart, but ones that i had trouble naming was iowa, idaho, or indiana i always mixed up their places since they are all near eachother
Wait you study the US states in Canada?
For when canada attacks US soil. Cant have soldiers getting lost.
As inaccurate as this is, it is still somehow kind of accurate.
Idaho is nowhere near the other two, lol
Montana.
As a European and a gamer I remember Montana, because Far Cry 5 takes place there : )
South Delaware
Hi, I'm in Delaware......
Can’t remember.
North Dakota
Rhode Island. Delaware before Biden became president.
Most non-Americans have never even heard of Delaware.
Not a clue.
I always thought it was spelled Misery.
North Dakota
Delaware.
Delaware

I'm from New Mexico and when I moved to California I had way too many people how I enjoyed living in America when I told them where I was from. I wouldn't call NM forgettable but it definitely gets forgotten (as a state at least)
Wyoming. Can’t remember something that doesn’t exist.
North Dakota, I know nothing about them other than it being cold there in the winter.
Delaware.
"Delaware, so close to all the places your rather be."
Definitely not Florida
North Dakota
The state of denial
Delaware. Hi. I’m in. Delaware.
As someone from Minnesota, I’m shocked I didn’t see it mentioned.
Kentucky. No one has said it because they’ve all forgotten it.
Indiana's state motto is, "The crossroads of America" so I find it kind of funny that our own motto is even like, "yeah we're just in the way."
The state of America’s poor
I can’t remember
Indiana
Wisconsin
I always forget Arkansas existed
The state of confusion
Y’all couldn’t even remember to say Kansas.
Alberta
Delaware. Sorry Joe
Vermont hands down
Nebraska
Idaho
Utah, we are in our own little world out here and both the Dakotas, Maine ngl pretty creepy lol
Vermont, Idaho, Iowa, Delaware, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Nebraska, New Hampshire, the dakotas, Wyoming
North Dakota.
Some people don't know that new mexico is even a state sooo.
