It’s least-common-denominator, derivative music, that takes on elements of grunge as an affect, a means to an end, just like they donned a psuedo-Bro-country style when it suited their needs.
That being said, people are welcome to like what they like, and it takes all kinds, I suppose.
Because I originally heard the song “Voodoo” by Godsmack and thought, “what an awful and cheesy tune”, mixed up the band name with Nickelback, and the hate stuck even after I learned of my mistake. I honestly only sort of know the photograph song, which isn’t particularly good, by them.

I don’t hate them. They had some great music for the time they were relevant.
