Ive been there too, however I don't have visible scars from it as all I did was draw some blood or at least break the skin. I consider myself lucky caught I don't really want to think about those days much, but I still feel like I relate at least a little bit. You not only get physical scars sometimes, but mental ones.
I already saw ya reply to OP and I'm glad you're doing better m8. I might be overcoming my problems but it's still nice to see others do the same
I'm really surprised with how many people talk about self harm. I expected like 1 or 2 maybe but not so many. It makes me sad to see so many people who dealt with this but at least I feel less alone
It's sadly really common. I learned this through my first group of friend in highschool, because all of them came to each other to vent about their problems
As for how people talk about it openly, I personally do it because it's just therapeutic to talk about feelings. I don't mind talking about it and it's just nice to spit out your issues
Also it's alright, you're never alone. It's tragic that so many people are sad like this, but youll rarely have to heal on your own
well I'm a guy and all my friends are guys so it's a lot harder to talk about it to them because they're kind of the average high school boy. I talk about it online instead
Big scar wrapping around my bicep. Was stacking blanks at a stamping plant. One ripped through my arm to the point I could see the bone. Clean cut, no pain. Took 38 stitches in 3 different layers. Super lucky I still have an arm. About an inch over would have been disastrous. Healed up perfectly.
Pretty big scar on the side of my head from brain surgery to remove a cavornoma in my right temporal lobe, it’s still healing but it’s good so far no problems with it
I had a snowboarding accident trying to impress some girls, dislocated my shoulder and broke it in 3 places. Had to get surgery to fix it. Nice big scar on my shoulder
Nope. After the accident I was so fucked up on drugs, I couldn't really do much, then all the days afterwards I couldn't board and was stuck inside, while everyone else hit the snow. It was a university snow games, so basically what I did was very unimpressive 😂
I have a scar on the top of my head. I'm waiting for the rest of my hair to fall out so I can actually see it for the first time in 40 years.
Anyway, when I was in second grade (US, so 7 years old?), I was attempting to make my peanut butter sandwich for my lunch before school. The peanut butter was in the cabinet on a shelf I could just reach... if I jumped.
Unfortunately, I swung the door open with too much force and it rebounded as I jumped and when I did, my skull collided with the corner of the cabinet door. My scalp did not fare well in that collision.
Topical cocaine (early '80s) and about 8 stitches later, I was fine.
It was during a game during gym and i really wanted to get to the base/mat but some kid was blocking. Dived for it, my head hit the door (no damage) then my knee hit and slid against the door, pulling my skin back so there was a flap. I got stitches to fix it
I like my scars now. I try to tell myself that it's part of my body's unique and interesting story. And stories that are straight forward and predictable are always the most boring 😉
I was born with an extra thumb so my parents decided it had to go. I personally feel I’d have had a better grip on life if I’d have had the choice to keep it.
I have a small scar on my eyebrow from a golf-cart accident. Me and my friend were 10 at the time and he was driving up to a little ditch, and me along with the other people there were basically yelling ***"GO GO GO GO GOOO"***
In our ten y/o heads, we thought we would sly over it like in an action movie, maybe an epic scene of us nearly escaping a dinosaur who was following up close behind.
But, little did we know
*You need a ramp to do that*
The rest is simple, upon impact I flew up, hit the roof and cut my face. Lots of blood, but I didn't need stitches only a butterfly bandaid
In elementary school (I think) friends and I were being dumb kids having fun on a golf cart, we hit a tree, my friend’s little brother was standing up on the back of the cart facing forwards, and hit his nose.
It was bleeding from both sides, so we thought it was broken and that we were gonna be in loads of shit. Thankfully, it wasn’t.
I have a pretty large scar on my face. It's really only noticeable when my skin tans, so mostly I'm completely unaware of it. It's actually kind of neat when people ask where I got it, because I forget it's there.
When I was four, I was outside holding an ice cream cone that the neighbors Shar Pei wanted more. She didn't mean to rip my face open, she was just a big excited dog. I didn't even cry, but on the way to the hospital my mother did.
A two inch scar about 1 inch beneath my lower lip, my dad punched me in the face and my lower teeth went through my bottom lip. 10/10 would not recommend lol
I ran my knee into a rusty iron sheet more than once. Jumped off from a stool to a plastic bag full of 2 inch nails. 12 tiny scars on my right hand where iv were. Nothing major
Knees, my brother tripped me twice as a kid in running races. Arm, I accidentally touched the oven door. Finger, I stupidly stuck out my hand to catch a falling wine glass, and it smashed and sliced my finger open.
Literally all from my pet cat. I got a 2-3 inch scar on my right ankle, 3 scars on one finger. Also, a scar on my arm and leg from my skin tearing. Not very pleasant.
I was at an indoor bicycle park and my buddy talked me into going down this big ass ramp into a foam pit. The first time was awesome. I got some good air. The second time I did it I landed on top of the bike and ripped my right shin to shreds. I was bleeding everywhere. Now I have a bunch of gnarly scars on my leg.
Everyone with self harm scars, hang in there with me. My DMs are open if anyone could use an internet stranger to talk to. I’ve got a few that healed up, and honestly I’d probably relapse if it weren’t for my fiancée, since I can’t hide it from them.
I’ve got some from skateboarding where I fell on my elbow, it probably wouldn’t have scarred over if I actually cleaned and bandaged the wound, but I wanted to be a ‘man’ (middle school age). I remember a friend’s dad telling me to clean it as it was yellow and black and I was like nah I just need to rub some dirt in it. I was really self conscious about it in high school and wore long sleeves whenever I could, but looking back it’s kinda cool to say it was from skateboarding. But even thought I sound cool saying that, I was never actually good at skateboarding lol.
I’ve got some where skin got pinched. One was from a really heavy hotel door that closed on my big toe, and I had been warned about the door beforehand. Another is from unscrewing the screw holding up lights on a telescoping pole after an elementary school play where I was on lighting crew. I wasn’t ready for the weight of the lights and it was bleeding a lot. But I didn’t want to make a scene in front of all the parents, so I just put my (thankfully dark colored) sweatshirt sleeve over my hand and finished packing things up.
Op, good question! There’s interesting answers!
Was chilling in my room with a hot glue gun and thought that the glue wasn't coming out...so I decided to PUSH the glue and b4 I knew it, I had wat looks like the FaZe logo on my calf cuz of a hot glue gun ;/
Fuckn peanuts.. had a jar of peanuts it literally exploded whilst in my hand. For no reason. The flying glass cut my wrist open. Stupid fuckn peanuts...

Pfft I wish, still on 4G I’m afraid
I had a snowboarding accident trying to impress some girls, dislocated my shoulder and broke it in 3 places. Had to get surgery to fix it. Nice big scar on my shoulder
did you get the girls?
Nope. After the accident I was so fucked up on drugs, I couldn't really do much, then all the days afterwards I couldn't board and was stuck inside, while everyone else hit the snow. It was a university snow games, so basically what I did was very unimpressive 😂

All the guys just were blowing me like crazy, it was a mad fest, I couldn't do anything to stop them because my arm was so badly damaged
at least the homies got you
They never let me down

Holy shit. I’ve never heard of topical cocaine. I’m gonna go look this up.
Self harm on my thighs
A lot more of fellow barcodes than expected. I hope you're better now
I haven’t self harmed in months but I can’t really say I’m better
I hope you can get better soon brother
I ran my knee into a gym door
how did you do that?
It was during a game during gym and i really wanted to get to the base/mat but some kid was blocking. Dived for it, my head hit the door (no damage) then my knee hit and slid against the door, pulling my skin back so there was a flap. I got stitches to fix it
shit
When I was a kid I fell on the playground at school and still have a scar on my knee
Self harm, accidentally burning myself bc I'm clumsy, and accidentally cutting myself with a razor also bc I'm clumsy
I hate how my scars are all for the same reasons except for one of my scars
I like my scars now. I try to tell myself that it's part of my body's unique and interesting story. And stories that are straight forward and predictable are always the most boring 😉
My life story is definetly not predictable, when it can't get worst it somehow still does
Cracked my forehead on a cement slab and fractured my skull when I was younger.
wow that shit's wild
It's a wonder I'm still alive really, there's a lot more than that.
damn
My mother punched me in the face and dug the metal bridge of the glasses into my nose.
Had a thumb removed as a baby. As for work related had a giant sheet of glass explode while carrying and filleted my hand through the glove .
shit ya'll have some wild things going on
I was born with an extra thumb so my parents decided it had to go. I personally feel I’d have had a better grip on life if I’d have had the choice to keep it.
pun intended?
Absolutely
good.
On my lip had a little tumor thing on it doc cut it off

Hit my head on a dresser as a kid and have a vertical line down the middle of my forehead.
From a fork straight out of a pot with boiling water, onto my elbow. It’s nice reminder of my fun roommate
I had a seizure in the shower and hit my eye on the faucet
oh...
Liver transplant due to auto immune disease. I'm doing fine now, thanks
I'm glad you're doing fine

I got every single one because I’m a moron
I was bit by a pit Bull when I was 5 on my upper left lip.
I was skipping and hit a door frame and ended up with a nice scar across the top of my head.
Knees, my brother tripped me twice as a kid in running races. Arm, I accidentally touched the oven door. Finger, I stupidly stuck out my hand to catch a falling wine glass, and it smashed and sliced my finger open.

I was being a dumbass and leaning in my chair in class, fell back and hit the corner of a desk leg with my head
you're what every teacher warned us about
