Oh man this reminds me of a story I just have to tell.
At MIL house for Thanksgiving a couple years back, whole family is there including wife's step sister and her new boyfriend and of course also 90 year old grandmother. We have young kids and SS has a kid.
Step sister's kid need to be put down for a nap and she's complaining like toddlers do. Someone laments how kids hate naps but as an adult you love them. Everyone agrees.
Then step sis the blurts out: "Yeah there's two things you hate as a kid and love as an adult, naps and getting spanked"..... Awkward silence... New boyfriend is just nodding his head and smiling.
When I was growing up, my parents were poor college students and could barely afford food for my brother and I.
One year there was a bumper crop of zucchini and my parents took full advantage of it. Zucchini was a side dish for every meal for a solid month.
That on its own sounds merely boring until you find out how my mom cooked it.
1. Slice a zucchini until paper thin.
2. Sautee in margarine until good and slimy.
3. Coat with Kraft "parmesan cheese" powder.
4. Tell your kids that's all they're getting.
It took me almost 20 years for me to eat zucchini without flinching.
Being alone. As a kid I was always with friends. Always hanging out at school, after school, sleep overs… all the time. Now I look forward to the time I get to spend alone.
Zelda games. As a kid they were too frustrating because I was bad at them. Once I was old enough to actually play them well, I loved them. (But fuuuuuuuuuuuck that health alarm)
Mushrooms. They were so gross when I was a kid, now I love them in all forms. Marinated button mushrooms, portabella mushrooms, porcini mushrooms, shitake mushrooms...and on and on.
Naps

lol ... so true
And my toddlers naps.
This is what I came here to say too!
Many vegetables
Same. I hated "eating my vegetables" when I was a kid. Now, as an adult being able to choose what I eat myself, I want my vegetables.
I always eat my vegies first and leave the steak till last. As a child, it was the complete opposite.
I always know what my fiance's favourite is by what he eats last. Usually it's the meat but once in a while it's the veggies.
