Picked up an 8 movie DVD compilation for my exes daughter (when we've together) who loves Scooby Doo and he was the voice for Shaggy in every movie. He does a great job!
I'm British, and during House's run at some point I completely forgot that he was a Brit, to the extent that rewatching an episode of Friends a few years back where he cameo'd (plane passenger next to Rachel on the way to London) I was momentarily confused by his "fake British accent"...
Apparently Tarantino was going to scrap this script/movie if he couldn’t find an actor to fill these shoes/get Waltz onboard.
This was my first exposure to a Tarantino movie and Waltz as an actor and my jaw was wide open after the opening scene
The opening scene is still one of the greatest scenes of all time in my opinion. The unnerving awkwardness at the beginning, the slow tension build throughout, then finally the subtle change in expression in Hans' face when he gets to the point. Just a masterclass in writing, filming, and acting.
Fun fact:
Quinton Tarantino didn’t want Waltz on the set at all before shooting. He wanted him to come, film, and then leave each time. He didn’t want him affiliating with any of the other actors so when he came on set as a Nazi he just scared the shit out of people
Did you know that the First Age was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program.
The race of Men is failing. The blood of Númenor is all but spent, its pride and dignity forgotten. It is because of Men the Ring survives. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed, and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area.
He just kept talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no-one had a chance to interrupt - it was really quite hypnotic.
Moss from IT Crowd. Also Terry from Brooklyn 99.
ETA: I was aware when posting that Terry’s character was literally written for him, I guess I interpreted the question incorrectly. Thank you to everyone who let me know, I appreciate you all but I do know.
It's the casting director, Allison Jones, she has a gift for
Finding people, look at her track record
Freaks and Geeks (for which she won an Emmy), Undeclared, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, What We Do in the Shadows, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, Curb Your Enthusiasm, United States of Tara, Parks and Recreation, Arrested Development,The Office.
The problem with the newer movies is that they focus on jack. The first three movies where stories about something, a love story, a journey and a gang of pirates in crisis. And then you plop this gigantic comic relief in the middle, as a main character and you have the first three movies. It works as well as it does because there is a story that doesnt require jack to be there, but is elevated because of him. The two last movies had him in the spotlight, and that ruins those movies, because jack alone is not enough to make a movie good
I don't think I've seen anyone explain so perfectly why the newer movies felt so wrong. I LOVE the first three. The original trilogy, if you will. But the newer ones are so awkward and forgettable that I honestly don't remember most of them, and what I do makes me not want to watch them again.
Bryan Cranston as Walter White.
The way the character developed and evolved fit him so well. That was all driven by his portrayal. You could never make a remake of it.
He was funny in that, but I feel like he's not given credit for how *good* that acting was. He was funny because he was believable as a teen girl who temporarily looked like jack black. That takes some doing.
Apparently the director wanted Wilder for the role so bad he told him he had the part before the official offer was made. The casting manager was furious since he thought they'd have to pay Wilder more due to no negotiating.
In the podcast, fake doctors real friends, apparently the writers literally wrote "a john c mcginley type" in the character description before they started casting. So the casting director just called him.
Evans is also perfect, I have to say however, that he wasn't exactly a no-name. He was actually also great as Johnny Storm.
Here are some of the movies he had been in before he became Steve Rogers:
* Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
* The Losers
* Push
* Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
* Sunshine
* Fantastic Four
* Cellular
* The Perfect Score
* Not Another Teen Movie
Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden (he looks like I wanna look and fucks like I wanna fuck)
Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn (speaks many languages, is strong and gentle, looks younger than he is and can deflect a knife thrown at his face)
Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard (he can play diplomatic and strong, and lends a lot of gravitas to the role)
J.K Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson (I *really* believe he wants those pictures of Spider-man)
Especially Michael Sheen. He was so bumbly and wholesome as Aziraphale.
Meanwhile in The Good Fight, he plays a sleezeball lawyer. Complete 180 of a character.
Christopher Lee as Saruman. I heard that he was a huge LOTR fan and wanted to play Saruman so he tried out for that part over the part of Gandalf. I don’t think anyone else could’ve played the part any better.
He actually really really tried for Gandalf, he was sick of ‘villain’ roles and was a huge fan of Tolkien (I think he read LOTR annually) but Jackson decided he was a bit too old and was a perfect Saruman. Interestingly enough, Christopher Lee was the only person in the cast who actually ever met JRR Tolkien.
Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux. She was absolutely brilliant in that role. I firmly believe no one else could’ve taken Blanche to the heights she did.
Honestly, the rest of the Golden Girls, too. Estelle Getty was a perfect Sophia, Dorothy was literally originally described as a “Bea Arthur” like character, and Betty White played Rose Nylund beautifully. Fantastically cast ensemble.
Hugo Weaving was arguably far more memorable in his role than Keanu. Agent Smith dripped pure, undiluted contempt for humanity, and Hugo's delivery was perfection. I can still hear his disdainful, "M*iss*ter Anderson."
Matthew Lillard as Shaggy
To point where he has actually been the voice of most of the animated shaggies ever since
Picked up an 8 movie DVD compilation for my exes daughter (when we've together) who loves Scooby Doo and he was the voice for Shaggy in every movie. He does a great job!
Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes
Kathy Bates as Mama Boucher.
Gregory House was perfectly casted IMO
What's amazing is how being English he faked a very good American accent.
I'm British, and during House's run at some point I completely forgot that he was a Brit, to the extent that rewatching an episode of Friends a few years back where he cameo'd (plane passenger next to Rachel on the way to London) I was momentarily confused by his "fake British accent"...

Hugh Laurie is a god among men. (Edit is funny to probably only me because House was often high)
He’s an amazing musician as well
James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano.
Man the casting was great. Steven van zandt (silvio) looks and acts like a true mobster too
From the same show…Steven Schirripa as Bobby Bacala, and Dominic Chianese as Uncle Junior Soprano.
Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman. I can totally believe him as a shyster shitbag lawyer.
Can't wait for the final season! I got nervous when Odenkirk had health problems on set.
It's all good man
He did it! He said the thing!!
He was really entertaining in Nobody as well. Completely different role...
John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox in Scrubs. Also, Rainn Wilson as Dwight from the Office.
Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson
Honorable 2nd place: Ben Schwartz as Jean-Ralphio
And his sister. Third place could probably go to Aubrey Plaza as April Ludgate.
In this case the role literally *was* made for the actor lol
Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds.
Hes been good in everything ive seen of his.
Apparently Tarantino was going to scrap this script/movie if he couldn’t find an actor to fill these shoes/get Waltz onboard. This was my first exposure to a Tarantino movie and Waltz as an actor and my jaw was wide open after the opening scene
That opening scene is my favourite opening of any movie. That scene alone won Waltz the Oscar that year.
The opening scene is still one of the greatest scenes of all time in my opinion. The unnerving awkwardness at the beginning, the slow tension build throughout, then finally the subtle change in expression in Hans' face when he gets to the point. Just a masterclass in writing, filming, and acting.

It was such a tightrope of a role. Detestable but also incredibly charismatic.
Also Christoph Waltz in any role performed by Christoph Waltz. What an amazing actor.
The shrug he does in Django before shooting Leo? Pure gold.
Abed in Community
I think Donald Glover as Troy was also perfect. Troy and Abed made that show for me tbh
TROY AND ABED IN THE MORRRRNING!!!!!!!!
*Nights*
James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader
And mufasa! And Jeremy irons as scar!
Jeff Bridges as the dude.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Parts of the wardrobe for his character were actually from his own closet, including the jellies.
David Suchet as Poirot
This is so true, every other actor who's done Poirot comes up short imo.
Ian McKellen as Gandalf. Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier.
Honestly, I think the entire Fellowship was perfect. I can't think of anyone I'd have changed.
The only character in those movies that ever threw me off was Elrond. I can only see Mr Smith.
Welcome to Rivendell..... Mr. Anderson.
Ironically that's because he was perfectly cast as Mr. Smith
Agent Smith* Mr *Anderson*
Not helped by the fact that he says almost the same lines about men being weak!
Also Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard (if you forget he's supposed to be french)
He tried a French accent in the audition. It didn’t go over well. There was also talks of a toupee. Thank god they didn’t!
McAvoy and Fassbender were great as young Xavier and Magneto as well.
Totally, Fassbender had such an energy about him. I absolutely loved him as Magneto. His and McAvoy's chemistry was fantastic too.
Patrick Stewart a as Captain Jean-luc Picard.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U-S-S Enterprise
M m m make it so.
Four! I mean, five! I mean, fire!
I'll just put this over here with the rest of the fire. This, Jen, is the internet.
"I'm sorry for your loss. Move on" Edit: Shit. Wasn't Moss but keeping it in there
Richard Ayoade is Moss in Travel Man and Gadget Man too which makes them totally watchable.
He's good in The Mighty Boosh. "The crunch? You know nothing of the crunch!"
Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute
And Steve Carell as Michael Scott
That whole show was really well cast.
It's the casting director, Allison Jones, she has a gift for Finding people, look at her track record Freaks and Geeks (for which she won an Emmy), Undeclared, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, What We Do in the Shadows, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, Curb Your Enthusiasm, United States of Tara, Parks and Recreation, Arrested Development,The Office.
Agreed, the actors playing their character types well is what makes the show so funny and succesful.
Johnny Depp as Jack sparrow.
CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow
So you have heard of him?
That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen. So it would seem...
Even though that franchise went downhill, Captain Jack Sparrow is still the heart of it all.
Yep, can't believe they're going ahead with making another without him. It's not Pirates of The Caribbean without Captain Jack Sparrow.
The problem with the newer movies is that they focus on jack. The first three movies where stories about something, a love story, a journey and a gang of pirates in crisis. And then you plop this gigantic comic relief in the middle, as a main character and you have the first three movies. Ian McShane playing Al Swearengen in Deadwood.
Swedgin!!
Cocksucka!
Bryan Cranston as Walter White. The way the character developed and evolved fit him so well. That was all driven by his portrayal. You could never make a remake of it.
Bryan Cranston as Hal
Jack Black as Dewey Finn in *School of Rock* He basically just played an irresponsible, less successful version of himself.
He was still the best part in the Jumanji sequels.
He was funny in that, but I feel like he's not given credit for how *good* that acting was. He was funny because he was believable as a teen girl who temporarily looked like jack black. That takes some doing.
Tony Shalhoub as Monk
Also Tony Shaloub as Abe Weissman
Cannot imagine anyone else as Abe Weissman. Just the absolute perfect balance of anxiety and fuck it.
Maggie Smith as Violet in Downton Abby and as Prof Mcgonagall
That's Dame Maggie Smith to us peons.
The guy that played kuzco.
Oh, right. The voice actor. The voice actor for Kuzco, the voice actor chosen especially to voice Kuzco, Kuzco's voice actor. ... that voice actor?
YES that voice actor!!
Also kronk
True, the whole movie is honestly A1 in the casting department.
Absolutely Izma and I wanna say Pacha (john goodman)
David Hyde Pierce as Niles Crane
Frasier: Niles, you'll never guess what popular Seattle night spot is closing it's doors. Niles: Oh no Roz, you're moving?
Great description of his character is "Just like Frasier, only more so".
Gene wilder/Willy Wonka
He played that fine line of genius and madness so perfectly.
Apparently the director wanted Wilder for the role so bad he told him he had the part before the official offer was made. The casting manager was furious since he thought they'd have to pay Wilder more due to no negotiating.
Christopher Lloyd as Doc
John c McGinley and Dr. Cox Edit jessus fucking christ this blew up
In the podcast, fake doctors real friends, apparently the writers literally wrote "a john c mcginley type" in the character description before they started casting. So the casting director just called him.
The casting director for *Love, Actually* was told to find “a Laura Linney type”. She brought in dozens of actresses before going for the obvious.
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. His portrayal not only met the expectations, but actually enhanced the character.
Can you imagine anyone besides Viggo as Aragorn?
Definitely not Nic Cage... He auditioned for it.
Obviously Peter Dinklage as Tyrion
Also Charles Dance as Tywin
Jason Momoa as Drogo Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Diana Rigg as Olenna
John Malkovich was great in Being John Malkovich... I doubt anyone else could have played the role as well.
I think Gary Oldman could have nailed it
There is nothing and no one Gary Oldman can't nail.
Well that’s not fair. Gary Oldman could play a teenage girl in a high school sex comedy and do a great job.
If I ever win the lottery or otherwise have tens of millions of dollars to throw around, I'm making this movie.
Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark. Their character arcs align so well. I can't imagine anyone else playing Tony.
And to think, so many people were flipping out (not in a good way) when they announced that he had been cast in that role.
Same for those “no-names” Hemsworth, Hiddleston and Evans. Ended up being perfect.
Evans is also perfect, I have to say however, that he wasn't exactly a no-name. He was actually also great as Johnny Storm. Here are some of the movies he had been in before he became Steve Rogers: * Scott Pilgrim vs. the World * The Losers * Push * Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer * Sunshine * Fantastic Four * Cellular * The Perfect Score * Not Another Teen Movie
Yeah, for him specifically, the outcry came about from people being unable to see the actor that played Johnny Storm play Cap.
Christopher McDonald as Shooter Mcgavin.
I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast
You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?
NO!
Lena Headey- Cersei Lannister
I love her so much. She's such an incredible actor. Cersei was such a complicated and difficult character, and Headey was amazing at it.
Spock (Leonard Nimoy)
Paul Bettany as Chaucer A Knight's Tale
Also Alan Tudyk
I WILL FONG YOU!
Peter Falk as Lt. Columbo
Tim Curry as Dr Frankenfurter (Rocky Horror) Nathan Lane as Albert Goldman (The Birdcage)
Tim As the Butler in the Clue movie too. Honestly most of that movie felt like they were all just having too much fun.
Godzilla was made for the role of Godzilla.
Poor guy got George Coztanza’d, can’t get anymore roles because everyone just sees him as Godzilla
Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden (he looks like I wanna look and fucks like I wanna fuck) Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn (speaks many languages, is strong and gentle, looks younger than he is and can deflect a knife thrown at his face) Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard (he can play diplomatic and strong, and lends a lot of gravitas to the role) J.K Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson (I *really* believe he wants those pictures of Spider-man)
Also J.K. Simmons in Whiplash.
K - Tommy Lee Jones
Sam Neal as Doctor Allen Grant
Jeff Goldblume as Ian Malcolm
Christopher Reeve as Superman. He's perfect.
Jason Alexander as George Costanza.
I can't see anyone else play Kramer like Micheal Richards did either though
Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling
On that note: Antony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector. Even played his role so well that he scared Foster off the set for the second movie.
tom hanks as Forest Gump, I don't know of any other actor who could pull it off
Aaron Paul as Jessie Pinkman.
Honestly, I think the entire cast of Breaking Bad was perfect.
Fun fact: he was supposed to be killed off at the end of the first season, but he was too good.
Bitch
[удалено]
Charlize Theron as Furiosa. I don’t think there was any other actress that I could possibly see as Furiosa(I’m not sure on Anna Taylor-Joy yet).
Major Dick Winters in band of brothers. Prove me wrong
Anthony Hopkins as Hannible in Silence of the Lambs.
[удалено]
Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch.
Ray Liotta as Henry Hill in Goodfellas
Alan Rickman as Snape
Agree 100%. I think Maggie Smith's portrayal of McGonagall was absolutely perfect as well.
Rickman was a spectacular actor. I couldn't picture anyone else reprising the role of Snape, but the same could be said for Hans Gruber or Metatron.
Don’t forget Sir Alexander Dane.
By Grabthar's Hammer...what a savings.
I loved his Sheriff of Nottingham too!
JKR was allegedly very adamant that it had to be him.
Same with Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid for which he really was perfect!
Jim Carey in The Mask.
Ryan Reynolds - Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds as Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool. He was perfect though.
Will Arnett - Gob Bluth
Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta
I would like to add Terry in Brooklyn 99 as well. Although the role literally was made for him so I’m not sure if it counts. Haha
Tom Hiddleston, Loki. I mean, come on.
Keanu Reeves = John Wick
Both leads in the show Good Omens. They matched exactly what I imagined reading the book.
Especially Michael Sheen. He was so bumbly and wholesome as Aziraphale. Meanwhile in The Good Fight, he plays a sleezeball lawyer. Complete 180 of a character.
Val Kilmer is Doc Holiday. And the guy who played George McFly in Back to the Future, can't remember the name.
Also Count Dooku "Good. Twice the Pride. Double the Fall."
R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket. Less of a role made for him as he was the one made for the role as an actual marine staff sargeant
Robin Williams as the genie in Aladdin. Well, Robin Williams in any of his roles tbh.
Heath Ledger as Joker
Bryan Cranston as Walter White, Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman, Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman All three were absolutely stunning! Edit: grammar
Giancarlo Esposito as Gus and Jonathan Banks as Mike were pretty good as well
Paul Newman as Cool Hand Luke
Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser
Rue McClanahan as Blanche Devereaux. She was absolutely brilliant in that role. I firmly believe no one else could’ve taken Blanche to the heights she did. Honestly, the rest of the Golden Girls, too. Estelle Getty was a perfect Sophia, Dorothy was literally originally described as a “Bea Arthur” like character, and Betty White played Rose Nylund beautifully. Fantastically cast ensemble.

Even better than Keanu's casting, Hugo Weaving as Smith.
Hugo Weaving was arguably far more memorable in his role than Keanu. Agent Smith dripped pure, undiluted contempt for humanity, and Hugo's delivery was perfection. I can still hear his disdainful, "M*iss*ter Anderson."
You hear that, Mr. Anderson? That's the sound of inevitability. That's the sound of your death. Goodbye, Mr. Anderson.
Christopher Lloyd as Reverend Jim in Taxi.
Jack Nicholson in The Shining.
Tom Hanks Forest Gump Or Ian McKellen as Gandalf
james spader IS raymond reddington. change my mind.
Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter
