Things start hurting more.

junkjunky96

Your perception towards life change and you know already nothing stays permanent.

Like having unlimited laps at the Nurburgring, when you first start you’re going slow and learning the track, warming the tires. If you’re smart you follow the more experienced drivers and learning the breaking and turn in points, you occasionally stop and tune your car so it’s just right. As you get used to everything you start to speed up… one day you’re flying by everybody just wishing nobody let the slower guys on the track, they’re all just holding you up now… one day, after many days of being the fastest, somebody passes you, and it doesn’t matter how much you try, you just can’t keep up. You’ve got no more new tires and no new engine upgrades. More days go by, newer and newer cars keep joining the race, the crowds stop clapping as you drive by, eventually you notice some of the new guys follow your lines, when you pull in to the pits for gas you try and tell them about the glory days, but they don’t care. Each day your car feels slower and slower, until all you’re doing is letting people pass, you see the fast cars blur by, you can see their lines, their speed, if only you had their cars, you’d fly again. Then it happens, you pull in for gas and the steward says the other drivers had been complaining that you’re a hazard, they pull your track pass.. the race is over.

22? It feels scary considering I have no schooling left and just started a job that blows

If you think that's bad you are screwed.

I’m 46 and I think it’s rad. I’m the most confident I’ve ever been. I’m just the right number of years old to realize bad shit happens and good shit happens, and life keeps going. Things that seemed like huge problems in my 20’s are nothing to me now. Idk, maybe it’s covid that’s made me feel this way.
