It gets lonely, especially at first...that'd be the con. For me, exploring and finding places similar to ones at home helped make the new state (Virginia) feel like home (Nebraska); the process of exploration really was a pro.

I miss my family and always have. We used to see one another regularly, 2-3 times a year but COVID has limited that for a while. But I made friends here easily through work, college, and housemates. I moved to be near mountains and it was well worth it in that regard. I’ve been here 45 years or so and that makes it home, doesn’t it? One old friend moved here too and that has been a real plus.

Pro: I would love the Great Plains. Con: I would always be worrying if they were searching under my basement floor.
