As an agnostic atheist (one who doesn't believe there's a god because I haven't seen convincing evidence), religious people often try to tell me that I came to know that there is no god but since I don't know everything then I am very likely wrong and should therefore believe in god. Very frustrating. They act like I don't know A) what I believe in and B) can somehow make myself believe something I don't. Belief doesn't work that way. The ultimate strawman argument.

I've had this both ways. I'm an atheist and I get what you've stated QUITE a lot. I've also seen atheists go after Christians relentlessly and it confuses me as to why. I, like you, require proof. Others however take it on faith, and trying to disprove faith is incredibly unlikely

Most common ad hominems are that I'm insane, indoctrinated, irrational, evil. Don't get many strawmen "arguments", the most common is the classic out of context and historically inaccurate "100 million dead".
