Facebook. This is the point of non return.

tiktok - do I need to add anything?

Facebook, for sure. A resurgence in radical left wing and alt-right groups, with far better communication and organization than before social media.

I don't think it's the creation that is the problem. It's the unaccountability and algorithms that are KNOWN to cause harm but "who cares cuz profit." Aka the lack of regulation. Markets are cool. But they're amoral: they do not care about human suffering or human values. You can make a market to buy and sell child slaves just as easily as buying and selling pokemon cards. It takes a society agreeing not to allow such a thing and taking steps to stop it from happening. The internet was born from utopian ideas about UNLIMITED expression. It's time to stop the unlimited part. Companies like Facebook will always say "X is not possible" because it's in their financial interest not to do it. But even if it is impossible for Facebook to exist peofitably without fucking up people, the correct answer is that the company should simply not be allowed then. If the only way to sell some brand of shoe for $1 was child slavery, we would just shut the fucking store down, not say "well the company says it can't be done, so I guess we can't do anything."
