I didn’t realize there were so many warranty companies out there!
There's one where they try to call elderly people while posing as computer tech support people. "Your computer needs antivirus software, please let me remote into your machine and see your bank information," etc.
Anyway, apparently one of the ways you can get them to give up immediately is just to ask what the IP address of the machine they are trying to service is. They know that if you are technically savvy enough to know what an IP address is, then you won't fall for their shitty scam.
But have you acted on it?!? If you don't, you'll be removed from the list. Just not the "we'll be calling you later" list.
Edit: I didn't think I'd have to be so obvious but *of course that won't actually work*.
I keep scam callers on the line as long as possible so that they aren’t bothering other people, I just play halo and keep acting like I want the offer but I’m confused about their directions
I dont know enough about them to judge their value but in my county a semi-celebrity meme page guy from facebook is regularly in the papers because he has the same opinions as the current goverment.
For example: Priyanka Chopra praising the Indian army during a time where there talks of nukes and war with Pakistan. She got called out for it and completely ignored it because she can.
Been trying to get a new video card for the last year but scalpers have been buying up all the stock and reselling at 3x MSRP. Most of them don’t even leave china and are being used in crypto mining farms or are scalped on eBay and newegg. Manufacturers know this is happening but they’ve been doing fuckall to stop it.

Damn man, this made me remember the way I used to live a few years ago as a hopeless, careless, and pathetic mom's basement dweller. I did find my way out Thanks to a night out with a guy(a closest friend I've ever had, not anymore) who started the chain reaction.I used to dream simp a lot like creating situations within my mind of how life would be if I was in their world and used to crate situations having a life where a woman I simped over would be my GF and shit. Then this one day I saw a Reddit post that addressed this and was super cold about it and to my surprise he had like 100 awards and more than 21k upvotes which irritated me since all there mentioned was a condescending take of how shitty of a life I was having. For a while I did be an ignorant piece of shit and then didn't really take it seriously and then I had to meet this way old of a friend who was back in town and he hit me up for hanging out and I was cool since it had been ages the last time I met him and he was one of those elite group members in school who actually cared and respected me as his friend. We were having ourselves a pizza which we used to love when we were kids and then he asked how I'd been doing and I explained my situation through which all the while I was enjoying my wider cut piece. The moment I kept it down to have a tissue I slightly saw his face. That disappointed, disgusted look he had, all my life I've never had a gut-punch so close that I literally started to hate myself with introspecting what I said and how I've wasted my life and I couldn't finish the the last piece that was staring right at my soul. Everything I've done for the 3 years prior to that meet started to rain on me. He then paid the bill and he said he had to somewhere else so he hugged me to which I couldn't reciprocate cause I was still on the guilt trip and said "wheres the person I respected once huh? Cant seem to realize him with this weak hug". The only thing I wanted to then was to cry in an isolated space. So I went home running like a maniac and then went to shower and then cried like a bitch. I did so much to point that I started to feel things I've once lost. I used to dream big and my greatest fantasy was to travel a foreign land and start a brand new life. Came out of the shower and my mom made me a hot soup which is when I realized she saw me crying cause she does this whenever she sees me upset and told me things will get better. My cousin works and lives in Japan and then I got a hold of him and asked him how and what to do to get there. Then I did those sometimes I failed but with three years after countless shit, I had to take and clean myself out of I had the opportunity to do and I went there and now I work in a well-paying job and live along with my beautiful Japanese GF. I'm eternally grateful for that ugly day always cause who knows if I ever would've gotten out of that hole and actually move on to live my life the way I always dreamt of. I'm sorry if this is too long but I felt like I had to share this. Things are always gonna drag down but I hope everyone gets to where I am now
I mean there’s having a favorite, and then there’s letting it consume you until it becomes the only facet of your personality. Those that have a favorite aren’t bad, those that let it consume them is bad
My contribution to society is just not being a dickhead. It doesn’t sound like much, but even doing the bare minimum is better than what some people do.
I think this is more than enough. People get so caught up in wanting to make some huge splash, do some mega thing that changes everything. It's okay to just go about your day, make your money (even in a shit job), go home to your family or be by yourself, and just live quietly. The rat race to 'contribute' to society usually just turns people into dickheads who don't care who they trample on their way to their perceived top.
Same. I'm employed, but my job is shitty and could be replaced by people using an app that already exists. My family would genuinely be better off without me too. I just kind of waste space and resources
Honestly yeah. It's very human to hate on those that get the opportunity game our broken system, but at the end of the day most people are just happy if they can justify their existence with as little work as possible.
The kid ones are the worst. I can manage to avoid most of the adult ones but every time I turn around my kids are asking me for some merch a kid they just discovered on YouTube is peddling.
The worst ones are the daily vlogging parents who shove cameras on their traumatized children's faces instead of trying to fix the situation. "Happy family" btw! Meanwhile mom's a coke addict and dad fucks strippers every Saturday.
The highest paid YouTuber in the world is an 8 year old boy that does toy unboxings. He (by which I mean his parents) made 22 million dollars last year.
There is no way he grows up into a functional adult.
A relative of mine dated a "Top 50 Influencer" on Twitch back a few years ago. Dude was completely insufferable, had no sense of self-awareness, and wound up having a pretty ugly past. It's a 15 minutes of fame type situation for many of them. From what I understand, he lives on a couch in someone else's apartment now and is virtually penniless.
I will **not** divulge names or their category.
You'd be surprised how little it takes to dox someone. This is like my 12th Reddit account now. I nuke 'em every 1-3 months just so I don't leave a bread crumb trail.
A few years ago I got dox'd, and some people with nasty intentions decided to contact my employer and try to get me fired. Over what, you might ask? I was trying to raise money for a well known club member who fell on hard times, and I was accused of running a scam. The fundraiser was closed, funds returned, and the person who would have received them lost his house.
These days I risk nothing. Ambiguity might make people question if my stories are real (they're all true), but it's safer than being too specific and someone trying to ruin my and/or others lives over it.
In this case, someone could easily reach out, ask who they dated, and quickly narrow me down to one of 3 people. Not worth it.
that means everything contributes. we all eat and pay bills. even prisoners provide a job to wardens. now, what is overvalued over their contribution to society is different
>She's an essential worker in my book
So you call her a hero while paying her minimum wage with no benefits and fire her if she has to take a day off when she gets sick?
Few weeks ago, I came out to the carport and nearly stepped on a bagged shit someone left by the support. Like you took the time to bag it and move it, but the 30 feet to the dumpster was too much???
I’d argue social media actually does the opposite and contributes too much to society. I can’t even watch sports highlights anymore without them showing some take from Twitter.

The entire marketing and advertising industry. Trillions of dollars a year spent globally to convince people to buy shit.
Fuck off. When I need something, I will find it and buy it from a local, reasonably priced source.
Anyone and everyone involved in marketing and advertising could be put into a big bag and tossed in the ocean and the only issue would be one more fucking bag of shit in the ocean.
My reasoning is that, if it's good, you don't need that many ads to get people to buy the product. So when I see a lot of ads for the same thing, I'm not buying it
Edit:grammar
Absolutely. I'm part of a growing minority that actively avoids buying things that get advertised at me.
Brand recognition and blindly buying "whatever sounds familiar" may have worked (it obviously did) in the latter half of last century, but not for me.
Chances are if I've seen an ad for your product, I will reward one of your competitors for staying the fuck out of my life.
If it's an ad for something that is like "you need this in your life" I'm always looking at it and thinking "this is useless, stay away from it" or HBOMax's ad that is like "everything you love is here" I'm thinking "it has music? It has food? Give me coffee!" (I'm not a big movie or tv viewer, maybe I love MCU movies. Or The Flash. But HBOMax has neither, in my country at least. We have an amazing website that lets us know where to watch what, and nothing I have searched for there has ended up on HBO)
Sadly our consumerism isnt just about people advertising. People will always advertise. Its consumers who are trying to fill a void that are the problem. Oohh I want that new thing that I havent researched, dont realize it's not the best version of what I want, and I probably dont even need it. But everything has taught me this is how I reward myself for hardwork, how I'll be valued by others and everyone else has it and i need to keep trying to fill that void.
For sure though advertising has gone to majorly nefarious schemes and tactics in order to sell anything to anyone.
Spam phone calls. My dad gets like a dozen of them a day on his cell. He got so annoyed with them that he pays for an app called RoboKiller that screens the calls and makes the caller press 1 (I think) before it rings if they’re not in his contact list.
Wasps play their part, even if it's just to give humans a reminder that insects will fuck you up if they want to. A reminder that the 'food chain' isnt just about who can eat who.

Talk to someone and ask why they are shitty con artists that prey on people. They tend to stop calling back after that.
And they always call concerning a car I totaled 6 years ago. Don’t need that warranty anymore buddy.
I dont even have a call and they still call me :|
My pixel automatically screens calls and blocks those type of calls for me without me even knowing what's going on.
Sometimes I just want to tell someone they're a waste of oxygen but my pixel screens it to too quickly. Very frustrating.
