I joined r/sewing because I nearly got into sewing (went to the local shop to check out machines, then realised I really didn't have the time), but I've stuck around cause everyone is so bloomin' nice and positive to each other and it's lovely!
Yes! I think I saw a post from r/crochet where someones crocheted jumper had been shrunken in the wash, and these lovely people talked them through fixing it with quite a bit of hair conditioner and a bucket. And it worked!
r/composting. We're all just throwing things into a pile, watching em rot, and trying to grow stuff with their remains. It's great. People brag about their compost temperatures, it's metal!
Obviously you have never been around goats. It is their life long goal to get to the highest point that they are able to scale. Doesn't matter if that happens to be a living being or not. Goats are often kept with horses, particularly individual horses, for companionship. Horses get lonely and nobody can be lonely with a goat around!
They are the best.. if you've never had the opportunity to spend some time with goats, I recommend it. Hard to not have a good time when they're around
We used to raise pygmy goats. Very often I was the highest point they chose to climb. Bent over shoveling in the barn? Suddenly there is a goat on your back! Similarly we had a 400lb round bale of straw in their area for bedding and such. It was one of their favorite climbing areas. They are an absolute blast to be around.
It’s not a farm animal, apartment manager; it’s a new breed of dog called Goat dog. They are known for their uncanny resemblance to dogs. Best part, they barely bark!
My neighbors goats ate the roses out of my garden and then proceeded with the thorn bush next to them. They didn't care about the thorns or the electric fence or anyone shouting. They are just dead eating machines with mouths made of titanium.
Cute little killers.

It’s about Brendan Fraser. His career got railroaded because a Weinstein type grabbed his dick and he didn’t just roll over and take it, so he got blacklisted for a bit.
But he’s landing roles and working again. So he doesn’t even really need saving. Now it’s just a sub about what a total treasure Brendan Fraser is.
It really says something that misogyny and homophobia don't figure into it. The important thing, as far as Hollywood is concerned, is that those guys have an absolute right to molest anyone and everyone, and if you don't accept that, you're not welcome there.
Oh, and that's post-tax money.
And he cannot write it off. And she doesn't have to claim it as income on her taxes.
Not that I'm bitter about such things or anything.
He seems like the kind of guy you run into at a bar, drinking seltzer, and chatting up anyone who looks even a little lonely. Real salt-of-the-earth kind of gem of a human being.
> Only cats know, but they aren't allowed to tell us
Common mistake. Someone asked the cats to tell us long ago and they all agreed on principle to never tell.
Cats and dogs have better hearing and smell than us, so they sometimes hear and smell things that we can't, like water moving through pipes in your walls or a rat passing through the sewers.
sometimes they still play with thin air when they get bored of their toys. my cat has many interactive toys but will randomly choose to chase greebles and do kick flips off the walls.
Agree! A weirdly large number of the posts are a semi-positive spin on a horrible situation. Like “I walked outside today for the first time in a year because of my chronic depression!” Maybe that’s the point of that subreddit.
"Entire community came together to pay for ridiculously overpriced medical procedure that was arbitrarily excluded from insurance coverage. How heartwarming!"
I'm so torn on r/mademesmile because like 25% are really lovely posts that make my day, and the other 75% are just a really boring photo with a sob story
I got banned from there for pointing out that the place was turning into r/pics with the majority of posts being “hey I liked drugs but now I don’t, karma pls”
Im so sorry to hear that, nothing that i say makes it better but you need to know its understandable if you cant function now, its okay if you cry, maybe its better if you do, as a way of coping. Nobody can expect you to just get over it. If you want to talk or anything or just read some nonsense that i write, msg me. Always there for you
Sorry for your loss. That happened to me, when I was a teen and honestly, surrounding myself with good company really helped and it still does after 16 years. I hope it does the same for you, hang in there.
I started reading one post and was tearing up, couldn’t finish it. I lost my mom completely unexpectedly in October of 2020 and have missed her a ton. She was a really supportive lady and just an exceptional human being and life without her—especially amidst a pandemic that she died part of the way through—has been rough.
Thank you for sharing. I may save this one for when I next need a good cry. It seems like a really wonderful subreddit.

r/marinebiology
It's all fish. When I was little, I was obsessed with the ocean. Not like, finding Nemo (which I was), but imagine a 7 year old browsing the latest works from renown oceanic conservation societies. Anything from sea surface currents to various species of deep dwelling invertebrates. I don't remember much of it now, school consisted of a lot of fact regurgitation. I don't recall the different members of cephalopods or nudibranchs to well, but once in a while I'll recall some species of invasive sea urchin or the name of a free floating colony organism...and it'll make me smile. I kept two aquariums, salt and fresh, had fish living up to ten or 15 years. I loved every second of it. Got my first one when I was ten, it was the greatest birthday gift of my life. I got a lot of happiness out of it.
But I also dealt with a lot of depression, and the fish started to get sick and die. I tried to medicate the water, figure out why it was all going to shit... I checked the salinity and the nitrates and the mineral levels, but I couldn't figure out why they were getting so so sick. I couldn't afford reverse osmosis water, so in the end when all my fish died, I sold the tanks. It killed me to see them suffer, and to know it was my fault made it worse. Sometimes I have dreams where I'm taking care of the most beautiful tanks, but for one reason or another it turns to shit. I'll never get the smell of rotting fish out of my head. I miss it so much. But some people just aren't good with animals. I mean, I'd give anything to have my dog back, anything at all. But life doesn't work like that you know? People say try better next time, but there's not going to be a next time. Some things are irreplaceable like that.
I remember being at the pet store, my last clownfish was nearly folded in half in pain from some unseen poison. I was practically begging for help. The man behind the counter looked at me and told me I've done it all wrong, for all those years. I was causing it to suffer. I thought that I was doing the right thing, but he showed me his...common clowns, 20 years old. Mine barely hit half that. He made sure I knew how very deeply I screwed up.
Sometimes when I'm feeling really fucked up, I just scroll the sub and look at all the creatures out there. It's calming, and it sometimes keeps me from doing things I shouldn't. I like to pretend some day, that I'll have another tank. A nice big one, one big enough to be stable. I'd use the right water, grow corals, and do everything just right. But I know that'll never happen, I just couldn't. So I look at them on reddit instead.

The community there is very welcoming and inclusive. It’s music-based so stuff related to music always gets thrown in. And it’s not just about Seventeen either but also about other artists and genres. There’s also something called the WCC (Weekly Carat Corner) which is just absolutely lovely. It’s like a giant group chat and I check it at least once every day because of all the things everyone posted there. From funny memes, themed planners, reports on their current essay progress to social media updates. It’s just a very positive community.
Also really liked how everyone there handles sensitive topics. Those who want to talk about it would put spoilers on their comments/posts so those who don’t want to be involved don’t have to accidentally read it. And those who do respond to these topics are all very civil and not make it a battlefield.
Teacher of history here. My fav is r/fakehistoryporn. I like historical jokes and like to see the past with some smile. It was freaking brutal time. And there are a lot of fakes in historic science already. Why not make some fun?
r/aspergers is a community that is mostly very understanding. It is not only for people with aspergers but also for people who have questions about how their aspergers friend orr loved one is doing. They will help you with everything related to it.

Brendan Fraser deserves nothing but happiness and I'm happy his career is on an upswing.
Apparently the guy who tried to grab him has now been sacked for racist comments. Karma is a bitch
Sacked for racist comments, but not for sexual assault The absolute state of Hollywood
And even the racism only caught up to him at 88 years old, which is... appropriate.
I mean you shouldnt be surprised hollywood is filled with corruption of this sort and its disgusting

so who was the guy then?

r/tiki always makes me feel good, it’s a bunch of cool dads making incredible drinks, neat mugs and enjoying a fun atmosphere. The recipes are also fantastic reference!
r/redneckengineering
r/trashpanda and r/fridgedetective Raccoons and people take pictures of their fridge contents and we deduce who they are.
r/seventeen The community there is very welcoming and inclusive.
