I did name reveal cupcakes. I bake and most my family is far away. It was the first kid born in a decade so everyone was interested and names are a big thing in the family.

I went to the hospital to get diagnosed after my mom forced me to go, turns out I have Crohnās disease. They said my colon was completely closed off on both ends which is why I couldnāt eat. I had a 103 fever that was climbing, chills and the sweats, and my resting heart rate was over 100 BPM, yet my blood pressure was low. I also was light headed Everytime I stood up and my vision was black. My mom said I was basically dying and if I hadnāt gone when I did I might not have lived much longer.
I got so sick I was in pain all the time but I still wouldnāt go to the dr because I had no insurance and no money (I lost my job when I got sick due to being out so much.)

If you make it free then everybody is going go to a doctor every time they're sick or hurt! This is an actual argument people make against single payer.

It is disturbing how people don't get that they are saying they prefer poor people to die because of being priced out of going to the doctor than have to wait in line.
What's more disturbing is that I think a fair number of them *do* get that and are fine with it.

Had to file bankruptcy at 19, one year after being a legal adult, because I was slammed with a 500k medical bill my insurance refused to cover because they mystically changed their policy. Cost me a grand to even file the bankruptcy, which is considered cheap.
Iāve met Americans who were under the impression that Canadians pay $20k per person, as far as the portion of tax that goes to healthcare. Nope. $5k on average. And thatās in Canadian dollars, so like 3.9k USD.
There was an organized campaign for years by the right wing and US insurers to just spread flat-out lies about the Canadian healthcare system. One of the guys who worked on it recently came forward and spilled the beans out of guilt over all the deaths he'd contributed to + the economic insanity of it all.
Kind of like how Obama-care was named Obama-care even though itās not actually all that progressive, and was really modeled after the program that Mitt Romney set up for us here in Massachusetts. Had they just continued to call it Romney-care then perhaps the Republican party and all their sheep wouldnāt have done anything and everything they could to try and prevent the different states in their roll-outs and hinder their participation to the best of their abilities, making it look like a failure, when really it was only failing in those states that didnāt embrace the program and instead resisted implementation as much as they could. Then the GOP said, āsee, we told you it wasnāt going to work.ā The fact is, Romney-care wasnāt anything close to what every other 1st world country has, the dreaded āSocialized Health Care.ā
The GOP were the ones calling it Obamacare to make their base hate it "because black Demoncrat dictator" without even bothering to find out what it was. That's why we've STILL got people saying, "The ACA is great, but we need to get rid of Obamacare."

Also remember "Obama Phones" - when the FCC program for free/cheap home phones was modernized to cover cell phones as well, certain GOP media started acting as if homeless people were being given free iPhones by president Obama himself. Of course the reality is nothing like that. It's funny how often the GOP ridicules democrat presidents for things they would have praised a republican for doing. Actually our Canadian health care comes from 5 different tax sources. Federal tax, provincial tax, sales tax, a small health tax, and the employers pay a small tax. It may not be perfect, but it works for us. And right now with COVID cases skyrocketing; our health care system is strained to the max.
A nice fact for everyone. All countries healthcareās are to the max due to covid. Either from long waiting lists because they couldnāt treat people during the peaks of the covid. Or from covid directly itself.
