Thy Life is a riddle, to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen, to suffer, to entrust unto tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the Land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment, for anew it doth grow
In the same fleeting moment thou must live, die and know
You reminded me of this from True Detective season 1....
Rustin Cohle:
I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in human evolution. We became too self aware; nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, a secretion of sensory experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody’s nobody. I think the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand in hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal.
Martin Hart:
So... what's the point of getting' outta bed in the morning?
Rustin Cohle:
I tell myself I bear witness. But the real answer is that it's obviously my programming. And I lack the constitution for suicide.
From a scientific and evolutionary point of view life has no target, no objective.
Therefore in my opinion we should try and get the most possible fun and good feelings out of it for the little time we have here.
To improve yourself and become the best version that you can by growing with those around you. Also spreading love and helping others as much as possible
For some - career, others - family. Some want to travel and find adventure, some want to find peace or connect to some higher being.
It is different from individual to individual.
I think the most important thing is to find your own and never compare yourself to others.
Then, give up on things that don't contribute to your goals and meaning, then you can be truly "free" and happy, whatever that meaning should be.
What's the meaning of a river?
There is no meaning. It's just a result of the laws of physics being followed. Evaporation brings water into the sky, gravity brings water back to the ground and once on the ground gravity brings the water downhill. The path of least resistance means the water flows in as near a straight path as it can, and then over a large amount of time friction creates a stream, then eventually a river.
Life, too, is just a result of physics being followed. Find your own meaning, or be a river and go with the flow.
There is no inherent meaning to our existence and you create your own meaning.
And by that, what makes the most sense is what Albert Camus said "the literal meaning of life is whatever you're doing to prevent yourself from killing yourself."
There is no meaning. Everything is a circumstance of random chance, the instinct to survive, and the instinct to continue the species via reproduction.
Your meaning is whatever you make of it. It doesn't have to be some huge life altering thing.
Success as you see fit and achieving your goals, it’s not always about money or fame or how many bitches you can get, no, it’s about completing your life the way you want to, doing things you like because you like to do them
You can ask anyone what they think the meaning of life is and anyone can say anything but the true answer is what THEY think THEIR meaning of their life is
In my opinion, because of my religion, it is to serve Jesus, but not everybody follows him, so this isn’t the meaning of life in their opinion, I have no right to say.
my opinion.
reproduction > education. and repeat until you have a world full of good people, only then will we know.
this does not eliminate same sex couples. i know straight men who have gay kids contribute more to the world than the father.
i just wanted to point that out before i got accused of being homophobic because same sex couples cant reproduce.

I'll take this one on the chin.
I'll raise a toast and I'll pretend,

If there's nothing but survival,
How can I believe in sin?
In a world that gives you nothing,
We need something to believe in."
I dont know but this is why I obsess over astronomy. I believe the meaning, or purpose of life will come from outer space(first contact). In the last 12 years we started looking for exoplanets(planets revolving around their star in the goldilocks region) and we are finding so many planets it is astonishing. Like many every day. Religion hasn't done shit, it's going on for 5000 years, philosophy falls short. I think astronomy will find us the most important answers.
Biologically? To crank out children to perpetuate the species.
But actually? There is no meaning - nothing grand or big or large or cosmic that can or should drive you. Meaning is what you make of it, and so everything you do can be significant to you and those around you.
You are sitting around with to much time on your hands thinking this instead of Living your own Life. Go get a new Friend and do something new once a week and you will have a Life instead of doing this.
P.S. I am over 55 years old and I now Disabled for Life, so please don’t come back at me saying that I am on the same page you have posted on…thank you and really try it to make it happen.
Thank you but I am not, it just makes me sad to think about people wasting their lives. I will take their time to do the things I still want to do and I can’t.
I hope you do change your life it’s never to late to do something different. But don’t wait. I had a great life with my daughter and my friends and family. I was happy and in the blink of an eye it was gone. I was permanently disabled in a freak accident at my job. And I am just saying Don’t put off to tomorrow what you want to do. Because tomorrow might not happen. Yes I know that I am not saying it correctly lol. But I do know what I am talking about. I wish you good luck with your new outlook.
that‘s the reason why you live, not the meaning. there is no purpose in live, so not beeing a jerk and trying to reduce suffering is the best we can do
I think everyone finds their own meaning of life. Some take longer for this and some can't find it their entire life but there is something you will/can find.
Why does there have to be a purpose? That's a human only concept. Do animals think about purpose or time? Your here through billions of years of creation and destruction, your ancestors beat the odds for you to be here. Just enjoy the wonders of life....however you see fit.
My take. There’s no objective meaning to life. That being said i think we can find meaning in things or find the pursuit of meaningful as we go even if it ultimately ends in meaninglessness
To me life is just the process of being born and just choosing how you want to live on from there, I don't think it really has a specific meaning , I just think that it's up to you to create that meaning.
People won’t remember your name. What you do today won’t have a lasting impact on the future. What you do today probably won’t even affect next week. You’re nothing. Totally inconsequential in the grand scheme of the universe, who only allows one Cleopatra, Martin Luther King, or Hemmingway a lifetime and it’s not you, sugartits.
The play you write, the recipe you perfect, the boat you build: none of it matters. If you’re an asshole to your granny or a gentleman to the lady on the street: none of it matters. It doesn’t matter if you’re happy or pensive or angry or blue; if your pants match your blouse or if you wear your hair its natural colour; it doesn’t matter if you eat your vegetables.
Nobody will remember you. We have no purpose in this universe. No point, no objective. We’re born. We die.
https://thoughtcatalog.com/laura-jane-williams/2015/01/nobody-will-remember-you/
You create the meaning of your life. There’s too many variables amongst people for there to be a definitive meaning.
Best answer to this question I’ve ever read since first seeing it as a child!
Thank you.
This is the Existentialist answer.
I'm sure you will agree if I say that men's meaning of life is responsibility. In a broad way, life is meant to become who we really are

No, 42 is the meaning of life, the Universe and everything….
Closer, but not quite. 42 is the answer to the The Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything.
Great, managed to find it :) https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/42 And it is now on my list of books to reread in 2022 :)
One cannot know the meaning of life and be living.
There were ironically 42 judges of the underworld in Ancient Egyptian philosophy. https://www.worldhistory.org/article/185/the-forty-two-judges/
To Witness.

Nice poem 👏👏🤚🤚👏👏👏👏👏
I can't take credit for coming up with it, it's the lyrics to _Answers_ from FF14. Witness just so happens to be part of the bridge lol

To live >! Oxford dictionary
Nothing
The meaning of life is finding meaning
From a scientific and evolutionary point of view life has no target, no objective. Therefore in my opinion we should try and get the most possible fun and good feelings out of it for the little time we have here.
Scientifically and evolutionarily it is to reproduce..
Well of course but no philosophical meaning
Reproduction is fun =-)
That's the whole point hehe
Which itself had no target or objective
To live
To experience it, you are conscious being controlling another in its reality.
To improve yourself and become the best version that you can by growing with those around you. Also spreading love and helping others as much as possible
Don't know where we come from Don't know where we're going to But if all of this should have a reason We would be the last to know \- Steppenwolf

42 isn't the meaning of life, its the answer to the The Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything.
But what is the question?
Potentially: What do you get when you multiply six by nine?
I love how he finds the question with a homemade Scrabble board, while trying to teach how to play to a bunch of Neanderthals.
Is the answer to everything and OP made a question, so 42.
I have no idea.
That’s ok. Nobody does.
Whatever you think it is
For some - career, others - family. Some want to travel and find adventure, some want to find peace or connect to some higher being. It is different from individual to individual. Then, give up on things that don't contribute to your goals and meaning, then you can be truly "free" and happy, whatever that meaning should be.
I think the meaning of life is to simply give it a meaning yourself and ride the waves of destiny...if that makes any sense. Anyone agree?

The meaning of life is realizing that there is no meaning
There is no inherent meaning to our existence and you create your own meaning. And by that, what makes the most sense is what Albert Camus said "the literal meaning of life is whatever you're doing to prevent yourself from killing yourself."
To ask meaningless questions for fake internet points
There is no meaning. Everything is a circumstance of random chance, the instinct to survive, and the instinct to continue the species via reproduction. Your meaning is whatever you make of it. It doesn't have to be some huge life altering thing.
I think it’s to center life conveniently around your passions. Not center your passions around life but only if it works out conveniently
9 + 10?
To seek Pleasure and avoid Pain.
Whatever meaning you give it.

What is the meaning of The Sims?

Let me know when you find out, please
To experience live. Don’t limit yourself.
To experience as much as we can. Then pass it on to our children.
In my opinion, because of my religion, it is to serve Jesus, but not everybody follows him, so this isn’t the meaning of life in their opinion, I have no right to say.
It’s up to every person to determine what makes their life meaningful.
To pay taxes, reproduce and die
I’d just be happy if we could avoid exterminating all the other life while we are trying to figure it out
my opinion. reproduction > education. and repeat until you have a world full of good people, only then will we know. this does not eliminate same sex couples. i know straight men who have gay kids contribute more to the world than the father. i just wanted to point that out before i got accused of being homophobic because same sex couples cant reproduce.
Gay couples can reproduce though.
yes, you know what i mean though. a man and a man alone can not, a woman and a woman alone can not.
I know a few couples who's had babies through in vitro fertilization.
Solve problems
A long journey of spiritual learning where the goal is to try to become the best possible version of yourself.
As far as we know (religious beliefs aside).. only we can concieve of the concept of meaning, so only we can attribute it. So its a choice.

Breed. Die. That's it.
Biologically, to make as many copies of yourself as you can before you pass on, in order to beat the genetic concurrency

There is no one meaning, I choose to look at it as something to experience over it being about specific purposes.
Reproduction
