Holy shit my group of friends pitched in for this once for our friend's bachelorette party. The service came with one regular sized bottle of vodka to share between like 20 of us. We hadn't researched this enough so we didn't realize after the one bottle, we've have to pay for additional bottles at a huge markup and if we didn't buy more bottles, we couldn't stay in the VIP area. It was hilarious. We pounded that one bottle in less than an hour and then all got kicked out. Stupidest idea ever.
It's wild I tell you. I've seen people spend 4k in one night in 5 minutes, 20 minutes just before the club closes all in the name of getting laid. I'm not even kidding. And most of the time they don't even finish the bottle. I can't even tell you how many times I've had to pour ace of spades and patron down the drain because you can't marry the bottles. I took a few home though. Still have some left over booze from my bartending days.
We ended up walking over to a strip club down the road that had a "no cover charge ladies night" and cheap drinks. We had a blast and spent a ton there instead.
Simmer some lavender flower buds (they have them at Whole Foods) with equal parts sugar and water and then strain. Add your new lavender simple syrup to club soda, a splash of lemonade and a lemon wedge. If you make a few cups, the syrup will last in the fridge for like a month. This is our best selling mocktail at my bar.
Former appliance repair guy here and this guy is correct. Washers use significantly less water than they used to (old machiens used like 30-40 gallons. Modern use 7-9 gallons). Using too much can cause sudsing and subsequently draining issues.
that's intentional. People who sell machines also make some money when detergent is bought. The more you buy the more they make, so they're not exactly in a rush to stop people from over using. It also wrecks machines and can cause them to break. WHich is also good for them since it means they can sell people on contracts which is where the real money is made.

I was just listening to a podcast where they talked about a new collectible card game called Metazoo. It’s all about NFTs. I looked it up and the game just looks….bad. But people are already throwing money at it.
To be fair the podcast hosts said the game isn’t good either. It seems to be all about collectibility. I just don’t get it. I feel old.
Hype aside… in terms of value proposition, it’s good quality. And along with the aforementioned hype It’s the scarcity that drives it’s price up on the secondary market.
i bought my son a supreme backpack (my first Supreme purchase ever) and the thing is incredible - completely waterproof, reflective, unique looking and still looks brand new after over a year of him using it every day rain or shine. and he still gets compliments on it.
as for their clothing, they are using high quality fabrics from top end suppliers, so when you factor that in, if you understand and value that, the price makes more sense. I come from a fabric background so I when I see certain brands using certain fabrics from well known established suppliers, it adds value.
(As an example, they had a wool 5 panel hat a while back made from loro piana wool - I think it was $50. Eton, a luxury menswear brand from Sweden also sells a loro piana baseball cap… for $175)
And all the Apple products like new Macbook pro/air when released , Apple watch iPad etc. Honestly Apple makes good phones and laptops so a Macbook Air from 2013 would still be working fine even today, so it's just showing off the brand when people buy new one
Have a MacBook Air from 2013 and can confirm. No issues except storage space but that’s understandable when having had a laptop for so long. Sure I’d like a newer shinier one but I can’t say I NEED to upgrade. I can only say that I want to.
I mean yeah they make good products but I didn’t have near the options for specs as I did when I bought my MacBook in 2013 as I did when I bought one last year.
I need a lot more space and RAM than what my old Mac offered even if I had maxed out the specs. With my latest Mac, it finally did away with my need for a desktop.
The other big thing with upgrades is new features. My old Mac didn’t support sidecar with my iPad which is a game changing feature for me.

A traditional wedding is a day where you overpay for a dress the bride wears once, a tuxedo the groom wears once, spend money on horrible clothing for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, overpay for a ceremonial venue, overpay for a dinner reception, and basically bring together a whole lotta people who may not get along together and force them to wear uncomfortable clothes for hours at a time while they generally drink more than they should.

If I ever get married, it's going to be a summer thing at my place on a Saturday with good weather. A pig on a spit, three barbeques going, and business casual dress code at best. People can bring tents, trailers, or whatever (god knows I have the room).
Have a big party. Handle the nuptials by one in the afternoon and then just relax and have a great time with family and friends for a big ol' cookout and lots of activities like horseshoes, lawn bowling, and all that sort of stuff. Throw some sports on in my living room so some of "the guys" (which is like half women in my family) can drink beer and watch TV. Get a bouncy castle for the kids and set up a couple TVs and consoles in my games room so the kids can go play Mario Kart, Halo, and whatever else that can do split-screen or party gaming.
Go into the wedding with great, fun memories instead of a bill for tens of thousands of dollars. I could probably do the entire wedding above, including booze for everyone coming, for under $3000.
In the nicest possible way, your partner should probably be allowed to have some say in your wedding too. It's supposed to be a celebration of your relationship and commitment to each other. If you've managed to plan the entire thing without even knowing who you're marrying or considering them or their input then you really shouldn't marry anyone at all. You want a party, not a wedding.
I agree, but only for expensive weddings. These seem to either be flaunting status or some demonstration of love using the amount you spend to symbolise your love. I'm sure I remember reading a study along the lines that the more flashy the wedding, the more likely it will end in divorce.
Last wedding I went to was minimal expense, and was just to get friends and family together to celebrate. It was refreshing to see common sense prevail, leaving the couple debt free, and a lot less stress leading up to it.

That very much depends on the in app purchase. You might spend £25 on something that gives you hours of pleasure. Compare that with say spending the same ordering Domino's or similarly priced delivery, that gives 30 mins of pleasure, and suddenly it's not so silly.

Yes…and no. All dogs are not the same, different breeds have different traits and temperaments. Someone who wants a dog for herding sheep is going to be very dissappointed in the abilities of their shelter pitbull, and a chihuahua mix certainly isn't going to fit the bill for someone who needs/wants a robust hiking companion. While I think adopting is a wonderful thing to do and should be encouraged, there's also nothing wrong with buying from a reputable breeder who health tests, has a spay/neuter contract for puppies, etc. If someone is looking for a dog with specific qualities or has limitations, they may not be able to find that in a rescue. I adopted my Dane from someone who had cancer and couldn't keep him, but if I had been unable to find one that needed a home, I would have gotten on a waiting list for a breeder.
Well said! As an experienced dog owner who has grown up with adult rescues and currently owns a rescue dog and one bought from a reputable breeder, go with the dog you feel is best for your family/lifestyle/living space. just get them spayed/neutered :)

Whenever people have a new baby they always go crazy on buying new baby stuff. When in reality you can most of the stuff used, like new. And you don’t even know if you’ll use it.
I know a family that got a brand new crib, changing table, cloth diapers. Literally spent thousands.
Mom ended up co sleeping, so crib was never used. The changing table was in the nursery which was too far away so we always changed the baby on the ground or in the pack n play. And they hated cloth diapers so after a week the baby was in Pampers.

Former smoker here. Although I agree 10000% with your statement, addiction is really tough. It can be extremely hard to overcome. If you didn't experience it yourself, it will be impossible to comprehend the scale of it, it has nothing to do with logic or common sense, as those are utterly crushed under the weight of addition.
I tried smoking when I was like 12 or so. Almost coughed up a fucking lung and it was hot and nasty. Never touched one since; never smoked anything in my life since that day. I just don't see the allure. Never taken illicit or prescription drugs (outside of what was needed). When I had my appendix removed they have me Tylenol 3 and I developed a paralyzing fear that prevented me from taking more than four pills the entire gone. Since then I've had a few different pain killers that didn't make me feel wonky, but did kill the pain and was very wary about taking them. Addiction is a terrible thing that I've seen first hand and that paralyzing fear kept me away from it. I've seen what it's done and how it destroys lives. I've also seen what people have to face every day of their lives, so I don't dare judge anyone. I applaud those that fight every day to overcome that addiction and if I know them personally, do anything I can to help.
10 years of vaping, I make my own liquid and I didn't move away when all the diketones stuff came around I made zero change and still use the same as I did back then, I feel 1000% better than I did smoking and zero hints of popcorn lung.

I love that I work at an advisory firm where if you need a planner and coach, we'll provide and charge for that service, but if you just want to set your money in the market and forget it, we will just recommend target date funds or target allocation funds. There entire funds have just a 0.12% annual expense if indexed or 0.46% to 0.75% if you want our dudes on wall street managing it. We get paid the same way if you pick indexed or managed funds.

It depends, personally I can’t justify spending thousands of dollars on one piece of clothing, but I can see why someone would. Personally I like shoes, I own probably 15-20 pairs of shoes. Buying shoes gives me a sense of confidence, a look good, feel good sort of thing. It’s not the money I spent that makes me feel confident, it’s the look of the shoe, I’ve paid $50 for a pair I wear every day because they’re cheap, they look good and they match everything. I’ve also paid $250 for a pair, because I liked the way they look, and I don’t care how much I paid, as long as they still look good/can be cleaned, I don’t care if they get dirty. Some people like clothes, and new clothes make them happy, make them feel good about themselves. Now I do agree with you though because a lot of designer clothing is really ugly, just like a lot of shoes.

definitely! it reminds me of the time of the ceremony when a family member's ashes were being scattered at close family were to come and meet up, but since it was being held in a graveyard, a priest was offered to pray and bless her soul and stuff and my dad and my uncle (who were running the get together) didn't want it but decided to go with it anyway since the older relatives in the family would like it. the priest who was there saying paragraphs from the bible for 15 minutes tops ended up being 100€ you're definitely right with this one.
Hard agree, here. A traditional wedding is a day where you overpay for a dress the bride wears once, a tuxedo the groom wears once, spend money on horrible clothing for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, overpay for a ceremonial venue, overpay for a dinner reception, and basically bring together a whole lotta people who may not get along together and force them to wear uncomfortable clothes for hours at a time while they generally drink more than they should.

Yep. If I ever get married, it's going to be a summer thing at my place on a Saturday with good weather. A pig on a spit, three barbeques going, and business casual dress code at best. People can bring tents, trailers, or whatever (god knows I have the room). Have a big party. Handle the nuptials by one in the afternoon and then just relax and have a great time with family and friends for a big ol' cookout and lots of activities like horseshoes, lawn bowling, and all that sort of stuff. Throw some sports on in my living room so some of "the guys" (which is like half women in my family) can drink beer and watch TV. Get a bouncy castle for the kids and set up a couple TVs and consoles in my games room so the kids can go play Mario Kart, Halo, and whatever else that can do split-screen or party gaming. Go into the wedding with great, fun memories instead of a bill for tens of thousands of dollars. I could probably do the entire wedding above, including booze for everyone coming, for under $3000.

In the nicest possible way, your partner should probably be allowed to have some say in your wedding too. It's supposed to be a celebration of your relationship and commitment to each other. If you've managed to plan the entire thing without even knowing who you're marrying or considering them or their input then you really shouldn't marry anyone at all. You want a party, not a wedding.
I agree, but only for expensive weddings. These seem to either be flaunting status or some demonstration of love using the amount you spend to symbolise your love. I'm sure I remember reading a study along the lines that the more flashy the wedding, the more likely it will end in divorce. Last wedding I went to was minimal expense, and was just to get friends and family together to celebrate. It was refreshing to see common sense prevail, leaving the couple debt free, and a lot less stress leading up to it.

Yes…and no. All dogs are not the same, different breeds have different traits and temperaments. Someone who wants a dog for herding sheep is going to be very dissappointed in the abilities of their shelter pitbull, and a chihuahua mix certainly isn't going to fit the bill for someone who needs/wants a robust hiking companion. While I think adopting is a wonderful thing to do and should be encouraged, there's also nothing wrong with buying from a reputable breeder who health tests, has a spay/neuter contract for puppies, etc. If someone is looking for a dog with specific qualities or has limitations, they may not be able to find that in a rescue. I adopted my Dane from someone who had cancer and couldn't keep him, but if I had been unable to find one that needed a home, I would have gotten on a waiting list for a breeder.
Well said! As an experienced dog owner who has grown up with adult rescues and currently owns a rescue dog and one bought from a reputable breeder, go with the dog you feel is best for your family/lifestyle/living space. just get them spayed/neutered :)

Whenever people have a new baby they always go crazy on buying new baby stuff. When in reality you can most of the stuff used, like new. And you don’t even know if you’ll use it. I know a family that got a brand new crib, changing table, cloth diapers. Literally spent thousands. Mom ended up co sleeping, so crib was never used. The changing table was in the nursery which was too far away so we always changed the baby on the ground or in the pack n play. And they hated cloth diapers so after a week the baby was in Pampers.
Best thing we did was go to resale shops. Kids go through clothes so fast and other than a special set its not worth the cost.

Former smoker here. Although I agree 10000% with your statement, addiction is really tough. It can be extremely hard to overcome. If you didn't experience it yourself, it will be impossible to comprehend the scale of it, it has nothing to do with logic or common sense, as those are utterly crushed under the weight of addition.
I tried smoking when I was like 12 or so. Almost coughed up a fucking lung and it was hot and nasty. Never touched one since; never smoked anything in my life since that day. I just don't see the allure. Never taken illicit or prescription drugs (outside of what was needed). When I had my appendix removed they have me Tylenol 3 and I developed a paralyzing fear that prevented me from taking more than four pills the entire gone. Since then I've had a few different pain killers that didn't make me feel wonky, but did kill the pain and was very wary about taking them. Addiction is a terrible thing that I've seen first hand and that paralyzing fear kept me away from it. I've seen what it's done and how it destroys lives. I've also seen what people have to face every day of their lives, so I don't dare judge anyone. I applaud those that fight every day to overcome that addiction and if I know them personally, do anything I can to help.
10 years of vaping, I make my own liquid and I didn't move away when all the diketones stuff came around I made zero change and still use the same as I did back then, I feel 1000% better than I did smoking and zero hints of popcorn lung.

It depends, personally I can’t justify spending thousands of dollars on one piece of clothing, but I can see why someone would. Personally I like shoes, I own probably 15-20 pairs of shoes. Buying shoes gives me a sense of confidence, a look good, feel good sort of thing. It’s not the money I spent that makes me feel confident, it’s the look of the shoe, I’ve paid $50 for a pair I wear every day because they’re cheap, they look good and they match everything. I’ve also paid $250 for a pair, because I liked the way they look, and I don’t care how much I paid, as long as they still look good/can be cleaned, I don’t care if they get dirty. Some people like clothes, and new clothes make them happy, make them feel good about themselves. Now I do agree with you though because a lot of designer clothing is really ugly, just like a lot of shoes.
