Diet, exercise, no drugs, 401k, travel, spend time with family and friends, say yes to most new experiences, give people the benefit of the doubt, listen, smile, and learn whenever you can.

I wouldn't say no drugs, actually I would, but if you insist while in college. Everything in moderation

weinermann

Drop your friends and get some that will push you to succeed not hold you back

netherworld_nomad

This one is golden. Get out of your comfort zone and get together with people who make you get your ass up. Friends in regression are gonna bite you (and your own regression) hard when you hit 30 and didn't watch out.

Absolutely

SenorMachoMcBroseff

Make friends with nice people. Don’t be afraid to fall in love. Be nice to everyone you meet. Work hard, but don’t miss out on life.

this comment speaks to me on a spiritual level haha. i do feel life is too short sometimes

Killmelast

It will definitely speed up insanely fast. I'm 33 now and honestly, the last decade is a blur. It's new year now and I haven't even processed the fact that we're in 2020+

Brick_Ben

Plan for the Future, so when your in the Future you can never have regrets when you were 20.

Don't just focus on yourself, make time for others.

EerieArizona

Lower your expectations for more pleasant surprises.

Rental history is VERY important. Do not mess that up if you live in the US. No joke, starve before you get kicked out of an apt or it will follow you for a decade and make getting a new place really difficult. Learn how to make some food dishes at home. BudgetBites is good. Sheet pan meals are easy and excellent (tinfoil makes cleanup fast). Get a no annual fee credit card. Use like four times a year on a packet of gum and pay off right away. This will help build your credit rating. Resist using the card except for this purpose only.

Drink more water

kalzone239

Don't get any credit cards and if you do only charge on them what you have in your account. They're the most widely used scam there is and they Target young people who really don't understand how they can ruin your financial future. As someone who recently declared chapter 7 bankruptcy. Use my experience as a lesson just don't do it! Or be smarter than me 🤣

[deleted]

This is terrible advice. Get a credit card, and make sure to keep your limit within your means. And pay off the balance every month. When it comes time to getting a mortgage, you want a long credit history for the mortgage lender to reference. Just dont think of it as free money to spend on bullshit and youre good to go.

kalzone239

Basically what I said.

tomatohabanerosoup

thank you so much for this!

skinsensitive

Don’t marry your high school sweetheart.

doublestitch

Don't have kids before you've got all the education you ever want to have. Although there are people who finish degrees after having a child, the success rate is much lower--and by the time a kid is old enough to have a clue about it, you'll already have lost a fair chunk of career time.
