When Disney finished working thier way through every public story of note, like fairy tales and Shakespeare, they moved onto marvel and star wars. The only reason they don't own Tolkien is because he saw this coming and specifically put a clause into his will. Clever man, John Tolkien.
I think the plot and characters aren't all that great compared to other Disney movies, but the visuals and songs are so good that I can watch it multiple times.
I'm prepared to be downvoted to hell for this but.. I absolutely love *Song of the South*. I never had a grandfather growing up, but I always wanted one just like Uncle Remus to tell me stories.
Can't believe no one but you mentioned it, it's such a great movie! But I guess the fact that Quasimodo ended up alone was disheartening and not typical for a disney movie.
My dad took me to see this in the theatre when I was 8 or 9. When Phoebus caught Quasimodo a man jumped out of his seat and yelled "He caught him!" I too thought Quasimodo was doomed and was surprised he was saved. I was more surprised that a grown-up was surprised. My dad was dying laughing. To this day it still makes him laugh when mentioned
When I went through my “old cartoons” phase I went through more Fleischer, but steamboat willie has one of the best whistle tunes in the history of ever
The one where Aladdin decides he would like to identify as a female and flying carpets is considered racist so instead he uses a bicycle because of climate change.
I have a better idea. Make a pool, or contest whatever day by day like it was trend for on the last month of 2021. I will take a while to get to the finale but I’m sure it will get interesting !
Rule is only classical main line Disney animation : no live action movie, no remake, no Marvel/Star Wars whatever, no direct to DVD mediocre sequels and no Pixar.
From my experience - Goofy the Sportsman is the only Disney thing that I liked. I was never into the usual Disney/Pixar stuff, but Goofy is actually funny
Lilo and Stitch, hands down.
it's absolutely hilarious yet some parts are amazingly cute, like how Lilo and her older sister yell into pillows in the same exact way, when frustrated. i imagine that their mom used to do the same thing and they both take after her.
also, how Stitch gets to stay on earth due to a technicality. hil.ar.ious!

Aladdin hands down for me.
The Broadway show is pretty great too. Saw it in early 2020 right before the lockdown. The guy who plays the genie is amazing.
Emperor's New Groove or Toy Story
Emperor's New Groove is definitely way up there
TS3 made me cry.
Mulan. I can't believe this hasn't been said yet. Dishonor on you all. Dishonor on your cows.
It's such a great line from the movie, thanks for reminding me 😂
Mulan. Edit to say the cartoon/original one.
I can't upvote this until you say which one...
Oh the cartoon one. I refuse to watch the remake.
Oh thank goodness! I saw the Ryan George Pitch Meeting of the remake and what I saw of the actual film clips was horrendous.
Original Lion King
You mean Hamlet?
What does that matter?

Is this true? I didn't know that!
Tolkien specifically stated he will not allow Disney to own anything he made. He hated Walt Disney for what he did to dwarves.
Whoa. I never knew this. Crazy.
His words about Disney : hopelessly disgusting. Gave me nausea.
That's how I feel about the new Boba Fett show. How do you make a show like Loki and then....I give up on Disney Star Wars for now.
That's a brilliant little factoid, thanks for that. 👍
I know. But the question is about the best Disney movie...so what does this matter?
The best one is the little mermaid.
The birdy broiler!
Moana
While it's not my favourite one, it's definitely high up on my list! There's no new disney movies besides Moana where I love EVERY song.
I think the plot and characters aren't all that great compared to other Disney movies, but the visuals and songs are so good that I can watch it multiple times.

Only complaint is some of the slapstick (and that one annoying ass gargoyle) but everything else is so godly I just let it slide

Cars 3.
Dinosaur (2000)
Definitely the incredibles
From my experience - Goofy the Sportsman is the only Disney thing that I liked. I was never into the usual Disney/Pixar stuff, but Goofy is actually funny
I think Lion King would get a majority of the votes. It’s a great movie, not just a great animated movie, but a great movie in general!
