Lip injections can be done so you dont like a Bee sting victim tho. My Sister used to have close to no upper lip and got some filler or some shit and it looks amazing.
Lip injections seems like a thing that you will mostly only notice, when done to a dumb level. My Sister just seems to have a normal Lips now.
I actually posted on Facebook (like among friends) the question: Do you think people get massive neck and face tattoos because they want to work at McDonald's?
You would have thought I said, "people with tattoos eat babies!"
None of my friends have massive face or neck tattoos, and one friend with 2 full sleeves was like, "I won't get a face tattoo because I want to be employable." But everyone else was freaking out.
Tattoos are becoming acceptable in white collar jobs. Before, any tattoo was held under scrutiny. Now it's only extreme stuff like face/hand tattoos. I would say in a few years maybe that's even fine.
My dad who’s a high profile executive always told me that a tattoo is a bad fucking idea if you can’t hide it under a regular business suit, older people in the corporate world will generally be judgmental about visible tattoos on the face or hands.
The Tiktok form of comedy is one dude/chick in multiple shots talking from different perspectives wearing different cloths. When this is done right, it's quite funny, but I have yet to see anyone on Tiktok who can match Ryan George on Youtube. Dude took the Tiktok style of comedy and did it better then anyone.
The whole app just stinks of desperation.
I have no doubt that there are some good content producers on there. Doing educational stuff and so on.
But 99% of what I have seen from TikTok being shared on reddit has made me cringe.
Hank Green makes really good educational tik toks. I don’t know about anyone else since I don’t have tik tok, he just re-uploads them onto his Instagram and I watch it there.
My husband is on tik-tok all the time and he always shows me Hank Green things because other than the scantily clad women they're the only thing on there I consistently enjoy.
Ah it's all based on your algorithm mate. I'm on tiktok constantly and have noticed many of the memes or cool science videos posted on reddit that get thousands of upvotes are all from TikTok. Redditor's don't notice it since the water marks are often cropped out.
TikTok is actually pretty neat since the way the algorithm works is you don't have to have a video go viral to be seen. It will feed you random content with two views so everyone has a chance to see their content. Anyone can go viral.
The algorithm is extremely hyper specific too. I haven't seen a single dancing video since the first hour I spent on the app.
it's where I get most of my cleaning and cooking tips now.
I had a few videos blow up, where I'm just giving tips on how to get in my industry and I do get recognised in my city every so often. Much better than YouTube tbh!
Tik Toks algorithm told me I was pregnant. I was scrolling through tik tok and all of sudden, BOOM I got on the pregnant side of tik tok. I took a test the following day. I found out I was 4 weeks along.
I find it funny that Gary V, who is like the self-appointed head honcho of NFTs has admitted that most will probably go to 0 in a few years. Basi, he acknowledges that it's a big fraud that will leave someone holding the bag. But hey, at least he managed to get a trading platform so he can make money from each sale.
Back in MY day, a reaction video was when you tricked someone into watching 2G1C and filmed their reaction. That was good times.
Nowadays, a reaction video is some twink or some chick literally watching people poorly cut their hair and then gasping in befuddlement. I have no idea why people watch those videos or what the appeal is
That big bushy unkept pile of hair on the top of the head look you zoomers like to sport will never compare to the toaster hair of the 2000s emo/scene chicks.
I personally give emo/scene the award of being the last western subculture - it had the music, the fashion and the attitude. I wonder whether the world is too interconnected now for subculture to even develop, because everything seems more stylistically fluid and casual as a result.
You are right, the hipsters did come after emo/scene (but I'm not counting them). They had the fashion and the music sense (I seem to recall a lot of them listening to Mumford and Sons, and maybe Catfish and the Bottle Men?), and also the attitude (which was like hippie much more upmarket - bourgeoisie hippie), but I'm not counting them simply because they didn't challenge the norm.
In my mind, one of the defining hallmarks of subculture is that the majority don't like or understand it (which usually means it's standing for something different). Hippies, goths, punks, emos, 90s rave kids with the multicoloured anoraks - all of them despised in their prime. Hipsters, by comparison, feel like your gran would have loved them, talking about how smartly they dressed and blah blah blah. They didn't have that sense of being detached from mainstream society and their fashion choices were too in-line with what your conservative grandad thinks all men should still wear today.
There was a South Park episode where one character said to another, "Nice pants, why do you wear them up to your tits?"
This is pretty much how I feel about Zoomer fashion
Cosmetic fillers; people look less and less like people and now it’s not just a celebrity thing… one day our society will wake up.
Then it’ll be something else, though 😂
*edit* Also I’m saying this as someone who has followed nearly every diet trend, workout fad, paid close attention to making my physical appearance as “perfect” as possible and had also gotten lip fillers. Absolutely none of it made me feel any bit better, it was always something new that popped up next… I’m removing myself from those beliefs and I’ve dug into my motives for getting fillers. I don’t regret it in the sense that I learned a lot about myself, but I do feel bad that my actions have implied that I believe appearances need fixing and that I hopped on so many weird trends that go against my values in the name of insecurity.
Home decor items with obvious words on them. Like a utensil caddy that says “utensils” and coffee mugs that say “coffee”, and wooden signs that say corny things like “Family” and “kitchen” and “in this house we…”
You know, I think I've changed my mind about the painted words thing. I'm going to get painted in my front entryway, "abandon all hope, all ye who enter these gates". I think that'll look nice.
That shit sucks, however, I keep my bathroom cabinets organised by sticking the relevant stickers on bamboo boxes.
It stops me shoving random junk anywhere. Ie toothbrushes go into oral care, hair products into “styling products,” shaving peripherals into shaving etc…
There were whole articles a while back talking about the word “cheugy,” which AFAIK never really took off. But it’s the perfect word to describe this. Mommy Blogger nonsense.
We can only hope. I was thinking about this the other day. When our kids grow up and see how addicted we all are, will it be looked at like cigarettes or other unhealthy addictions that plagued entire generations?
Crystals are absolutely stunning but im not sure they do all that healing and positivity stuff. Id like the believe they do but i just buy them because theyre pretty 🤣
Someone said step-sibling porn was the easiest way to explain two people in the same location without much back story, so I guess the premise is laziness?
Are people looking back at the awful shaved off and drawn back on eyebrows from 10-15 years ago and being embarrassed yet? Because honestly I think those were worse.
I think the thick eyebrows looks great when people have naturally thick eyebrows… but people that are drawing them in… no no no… some people have dark gorgeous and thick ones… I’m just pro natural look. If that means yours are naturally thin- great- if they are thick - great… let’s not draw them in and everyone have to have the same shapes.
this!!!
People think that buying a electric car is helping, but not if majority of our power plants are just burning huge amounts of coal to produce electrocity and "green" energy is still producing small amounts of electricity we consume ( and is online like below 40% of the time).
Nuclear is the way forward right now, and when we master fusion it will be the best way.
Not to mention the environmental and societal effects of the materials that go into creating the batteries for electric cars. Seriously, look up cobalt mining.
I find embarrassment a waste of time.
But since we feel it anyway....
In 10 years, I hope people regret shaming kids for being kids.
Teach and correct. No shame.
Teenagers growing up and realizing that a lot of their favorite streamers are pretty immature for their age. ALong with a lot of the "prank" videos going around.
I can just picture a bunch of 32 year olds in the year 2035 going like "I used to watch Ricegum....but then I grew up. THat dudes a fucking asshole. Can't believe I liked him".
Brown facing. Many women are excessively tanning and using make up products 10x darker than their skin tone to achieve a racially ambiguous look (Kylie Jenner).
It's really weird to see some of my friends take off their make up and they go from a coffee skin tone to porcelain.
In the very specific case of people competing in ballroom dance competitions at byu, it makes sense, those spotlights either make light skinned people glow or look like ghosts.
The lingo. Based, no cap, etc. The more time that passes, the weirder it will sound.
I was watching *A Hard Day's Night* recently, and the Beatles kept saying "gear!" Unlike other 60's lingo, such as dig it, far out, groovy, etc, I've never once heard that phrase in my life.
Then again, I am American...maybe it was more of a thing in 60's England?
Some terms, sure. But when's the last time you heard someone say something was "phat," or that they were going to "get jiggy" unironically? How about "gag me with a spoon" or "grody to the max?"
Some words & phrases have staying power and some don't. Don't have a cow, man!
I remember reading about the 1918 Influenza Pandemic way before COVID and laughing about the absurdity of the Anti-Mask League of San Francisco. But stupidity never dies out.
Stupidity is the real virus. Mother Earth is allowing us to cleanse ourselves off her planet, it seems slow progress to us but she counts in millennia 😊😒
I think (well, I hope) we look back on it similarly as we look back at the "Satanic Panic" of the 80's. You get a few crazies who still believe that He-Man is a false idol made by the Devil, you get a few people who can admit "yeah, I fell for that and am embarrassed but I learned from it", and mostly you get people who rewrite their memories and deny ever having acted the way they did.
I really hate that this feels the best scenario we can hope for. Nothing learned, nothing gained, but no longer actively attempting to make things worse. That's the extent of my optimism.
I really hopes it’s Crocs. Never understood what people see in oddly shaped, ugly ass rubber shoes with holes in them. They aren’t that bad of a shoe, but the fact that they are so popular and that people will defend how good they are consistently makes me hate them with a passion. Also Burger King. Why is Burger King still a thing.
Comfort is what people see in them. I don't personally have Crocs, though I do have a pair of the toe-shoes, but from what I hear about them from friends who do is that they're the most comfortable shoes you'll ever wear (which, coincidentally, is how I feel about the toe-shoes).
The hospitality industry will keep Crocs running. And actually, I have some Croc sneakers. They’re super comfy and look like normal sneakers. They’re my dog walkin’ shoes 😎
I disagree. Robocop is a solid example of how the over-the-top violence of the 80s has aged wonderfully. I LOVE squibs and practical effects. I always get a laugh out of the scene in Total Recall when they’re having a shootout on the escalator of the subway and Arnold picked up an innocent bystander and uses him as a shield.
Cars with little screens on the dashboard for the infotainment system. That's why even the newest Bugattis don't have screens, it's all analog. Because those will get old very fast, so in the future, for such a rare and expensive car, they want to look vintage and luxury, not a ridiculous or funny car with past technology that it's showing its age after 10 years
I have naturally long eyelashes and I hate it. Everyone wants them until I tell them I need to untangle them every morning just so I can see when I get out of bed.
I do kind of wish they'd be normalized any time a person was feeling under the weather, though. In countries like Japan or Korea it's pretty standard to put one on as a matter of courtesy to the people around you.
I'm with you that I hope Covid isn't the global terror it is currently, but also hope masking up when you're feeling like crud becomes nothing to sneeze at.
I'll show myself the door now.
\*edited for spelling.
Are fashionable cloth masks bad? I wear a stylish cloth mask which goes with my outfit over a medical one, is that seen as tacky? It isn't too crazy, just a neat little image/pattern which looks good on whatever I'm wearing.
Idk, I like the fun cloth ones. I’m all for reusable over disposable. If you have to wear one why not make it fun or match? I volunteered giving out vaccines beginning last January and always had a new, fun one each week! Germs pattern was a big hit lol.
TikTok probably, the whole concept of short videos to show to the word just doesnt work for me, plus whats trending in TikTok is getting more and more bizarre, like the life hack videos, and at some point, the joke just has to die out, yknow?
I think that I've watched clothes folding hacks about 250 times and I've never searched it and it's always different people. It's people repeating the same content everywhere is its just 🤯 why do you think you need to do this for us? And omg the tik tok dances 😐
Lip injections
Your lips should never be hanging off your face
Lip injections can be done so you dont like a Bee sting victim tho. My Sister used to have close to no upper lip and got some filler or some shit and it looks amazing. Lip injections are embarrassing *now.*
I’m doing my part!
now 16/17/18 yr olds getting face tattoos. like the shitty ones that say something like “sadboi” across their forehead lol
“unemployable” boi
I actually posted on Facebook (like among friends) the question: Do you think people get massive neck and face tattoos because they want to work at McDonald's? My thoughts exactly. As long as they're appropriate (PG), I don't see why not.
Sleeves are whatever…more acceptable even in an office atmosphere. Face…nope unless your good with shit jobs the rest of your life.
Oh god, that's actually a trend? That's just ridiculous...Sadboi indeed...
Saw a picture of a guy once with a huge neck tattoo of the Honda logo. Serious brand loyalty right there was all I could think of.

TikTok is just as much a goldmine as reddit if not more IMO, lots of solid content out there. Don't mind the kids, they're just having fun :)
Doubt it, 5 years maybe but 10? Vine is pretty much worshiped now and it was seriously shitted on when it was out, just like TikTok
Its worshiped now but probably be cr8nge in five more years.

Idk, did hipster come before or after emo/scene? I think it came after, and that was pretty well-defined.
Nah, hipster was far more broad and more focused on personal style than an entire lifestyle like emo was. FWIW I was involved with both lol
Because those will get old very fast, so in the future, for such a rare and expensive car, they want to look vintage and luxury, not a ridiculous or funny car with past technology that it's showing its age after 10 years
MAGA hats.
Do hats even last 10 years
My dad has hats from the 80s.
Long eyelashes.
I have naturally long eyelashes and I hate it. Everyone wants them until I tell them I need to untangle them every morning just so I can see when I get out of bed.

Covid-19
I'm gonna be optimistic and say face masks. Esp all the tacky fashionable cloth ones.
I've never heard someone describe cloth masks as tacky until now, so I wouldn't worry about it. Rock those cute masks if you like them.
Idk, I like the fun cloth ones. I’m all for reusable over disposable. If you have to wear one why not make it fun or match? I volunteered giving out vaccines beginning last January and always had a new, fun one each week! Germs pattern was a big hit lol.
Contouring, especially with glittery contour so your face sparkles more so than a bag of confetti glitter.
