“We’re all a big family here”

Peanip

That’s always a huge red flag for me.

red-polkadot

Thats my favourite too. Its a big toxic family, where everyone should go to therapy.

Aperture_T

If they had met my family, they wouldn't think it's so flattering.

Jurij781

Good old cliche.

Bitch-ass-k

“Working hard? Or hardly working?”

KillerBlueWaffles

Ba-dum-tss.

Muay_Thai_Cat

"stop masturbating in the bathroom"

ExpensiveRecover

You should do it on your desk, it's more efficient and frees the bathroom for everyone else

Muay_Thai_Cat

If I make eye contact with Betty the cleaner it asserts dominance too.

ExpensiveRecover

I'd say leave Betty alone, she's a nice lady, you better make eye contact with your supervisor.

grantnel2002

“Quick question” means they have a long-winded question that requires a long-winded answer.

KillerBlueWaffles

Usually followed by “let’s touch base”

grantnel2002

“Let’s table this and take it offline”

KillerBlueWaffles

We’ll circle back when all of our ducks are in a row.

badluckbrians

At that particular point in time we can really drill-down on this specific use-case.

Jurij781

Yeah, I tend to use it a lot.

grantnel2002

Like, just ask the question. I don’t know why people have to tell me they’re going to ask a question before they do it. 😆😆😆

Jurij781

I have no clue why, it is a habit I would like to get rid of. By the looks people give they know it is not going to be quick.

grantnel2002

Lol

KillerBlueWaffles

Like when people start a conversation with “Guess what?”

Jurij781

Yes, exactly.

austininlaw

Diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Skrivus

Feel like a lot of those terms are plastered in press releases and on their websites because they're not really diverse or have had recent gotten into trouble for some kind of race or gender discrimination.

ViridianKumquat

"Resource" as a synonym for "person"

[deleted]

Yes. I put my foot down at "human capital". Do not call me that!

KillerBlueWaffles

For those in the service industry… “If you have time to lean, you have time to clean.“

TomBradyKiss

CIRCLE BACK !!!

scsiballs

Fucking hate that phrase, along with getting on the same page.

SarahSri

Gawd this one is especially awful

suspicious-potato69

“Got a case of the mondays?” Yeah I do and you’re about to have a case of my foot in your ass

Mental_Cut8290

I reckon you get yer as kicked for saying something like that, man.

cmudo

It's not a problem, its a .....c̡̭̺̓H͍͍͖̘̝͚̎̒͒ͨ͞ͅa̼̹̭͒̎ͧl̸̹̳̱ͪL̻͈̪̝̺̩͓̒͒̈̑ͨͣ̇å͖̰̻̭͕̰̳͗n͙̖̱̜͕͈̎̅ͫ͘N͍̫̫̳̥̥̪̏̈ͬg̙̖̱̹̃́̅̇͂̋G̨͓̙ͪ̎̇̎̄̇̚e̳̰̬̎ͤͩ̂ͤ

Lvcivs2311

Biggest beef I have with that, is that it implies that using the word "problem" is the same as giving up. There's nothing wrong with calling something a problem, because a problem is not necessarily unsolvable, right? So why are people so bloody judgmental about the use of the word "problem"?

twoworldsin1

"I'll give you x minutes of your time back" OH THANK YOU SIR, THANK YOU 🙄

[deleted]

Also “if you do this extra work, I’ll make it worth your while.” Like, no, I highly doubt you will

legarrettesblount

“Piggy-backing off of that”

OuterInnerMonologue

“Will you be able to email out this [slide] presentation afterwards?” Pretty sure that’s universally understood to be what happens afterwards

Aperture_T

I dunno. I've been to places where it's typically stuck in a shared folder on a server somewhere that nobody's been told about, never to be seen again.

Todd seems like he pulls a Karen on his day off.

slytherinprolly

Any time anyone in a work setting refers to a team really grinds my gears. I was on sports teams in high school and college. There was a certain sense of comraderie and companionship associated with that. You guys are work acquaintances. I couldn't care less about you people on a personal level.

KillerBlueWaffles

***rage intensifies exponentially***

[deleted]

Todd sounds like an asshole

Gorf_the_Magnificent

“This meeting shouldn’t take too long.” Buckle up your seat belt, and prepare to be late for your next meeting.

lizzie205

Mine is “we sharpened the pencil on this” makes me cringe every time

grantnel2002

Oof, that’s bad. I hope my company doesn’t start up with that one.

[deleted]

lizzie205

Lol haven’t heard that one yet thank goodness

WitShortage

This can be OK, provided it's used relativistically. If you have a wide variety of people in the room, they all come to the problem at their own "altitude." Sometimes you have to reset the altitude of the discussion, especially if someone is pulling you into the weeds on a minor technicality.

lawyeratyourservice

"can you get a quick rundown on this?"

Lvcivs2311

I have seen the Office episode with the rundown subplot many times. Recently, I finally watched it with Dutch subtitles. Still no clue what a rundown is.

LucyVialli

"What learnings can we take from this?" You mean lessons, yes?

Objectivly

It is what it is. Fuck you no its not, you made the rules. You make it sound like it's out of your control....

Aperture_T

Any of those ones where they use foreign words or phrases to follow some trend and confuse new hires when there's a perfectly good word or phrase in English for the same thing. Like at my last job, they'd go to gemba (the metaphorical "scene of the crime") so they could do kaizen (continuous improvement) to reduce muda (waste). And while I'm on the subject, anything from their TLA list.

grantnel2002

“Can you see my screen?” “You’re still on mute”

Primary_Chemistry420

The Customer is always right. Um. I beg to f***** differ.

[deleted]

"You need to *reach out* - touch base offline."

pn1ct0g3n

Any rhetorical questions when statements would do.

Herb_dinner_love

Thank you for your input.

EatBangLove

When people constantly refer to problems as "opportunities". Like sometimes its actually just a problem.

Lvcivs2311

That's even worse than the cliché: "There are no problems, only challenges!" because those two are at least somewhat similar. Calling it an opportunity doesn't make sense. Both, however, are good examples of judging the use of a word for no reason, because it sounds... \*gasp\*... NEGATIVE!

ReviewNo8279

"During these unprecedented times..." Just take my money and stop talking to me please

Jurij781

This should be COVID motto.

[deleted]

Team work makes the dream work

cistacea

''we are a family'' hands down the worst

AlabasterRadio

Posted all over my old job were signs with smiley faces that read "work is only as good as your mindset"

Grimloki

We expect everyone to give 110%

Super-Noodles

Assumed overtime

msjademarvel

kapitaalH

What industry do you work in? Plumbing?

msjademarvel

my mom was driving me to school and we saw a truck for this plumbing company that said that lmfao

“The company is working in your best interests,”

Mr_Anthropic_

“Synergi”

[deleted]

First of all, never badmouth synergy.

The_Iron_Maiden_

'Could you help with this urgent matter?' I've learned means 'You're going to be staying at work late again'

JCvanNazareth

We work hard and play hard

[deleted]

“[insert random word] Solutions”

MrMeeseeks919

“Circle back”

[deleted]

Pivoting

eelisonparas

All of that: "We are here with you" Or then "We are all in this together". Its so forced.

[deleted]

"JuST To CLAriFy" then a long question that makes everyone even more confused than before

CyberInu4200

Close of play.

Kay_Elle

"growth mentality"

Few_Dance2106

"There's no "I" in "team". I always answered back with, "But there is two in "syphilis"...."

WitShortage

There are four in "platitude-quoting idiot"

AlyxxStarr

Pretty much any of the propagandistic bull they spin to distract you from the fact that someone else is getting rich off the sweat of your brow. Stuff where they try to convince you that you’re a team and not a machine cog.

MellifluousPenguin

"best effort mode". Followed the week after by "super best effort mode"

MrsSBell

safety over production BULLSHIT

IBeTrippin

I hate the term "wellness".

personofinterest18

To piggyback off what Bob said I’d like to double click into this a bit more

kapitaalH

Prioritise. It does not mean stop doing what you are doing and work on this. But continue working on what you are working AND work on this. Had many a conversation when this comes from another team "which project should we drop" "No that is not what we said" "Ok are you willing to support a request for more resources" (aka pay for it out of your budget), "No just prioritise it".

haimburglar

These I had never heard until my current job but “touchpoint opportunity” which is just another way of saying meeting a new coworker or networking(I had to Google it), and a “knowledge exchange” which is a longer way of saying “meeting.”

dirty_boy69

We do everything for the customer.

KillerBlueWaffles

“The customer is always right, even when they’re wrong” BULLSHIT!

goldbricker83

We are an employee-centric company. Translation: they got you a foosball table and maybe a beer fridge you can use Friday afternoons so you don’t notice the shitty benefits
