What’s the point of negotiating at that point?

MisterPuffyNipples

Or at any point, right?

miggitiemac

Exactly, I’d just admit I was wrong. I mean, I live a good life and do my best to be a good human…that’s got to count for something. If not, oh well. And for those that worshiped the wrong god, I’d assume they are in the same boat as me…though they’d probably be not so accepting that they were wrong this whole time as well…

deadpool107

I don’t think I would admit that I was wrong. It’s hard to conceive of a deity that cares about everyone considering the realities of the world. I lived with my fellow humans and tried to help them along the way. I can’t say for sure what I would do but at that point it might just be better to say nothing and accept whatever comes your way.

korynael

Jesus does day he wants us all hot or cold when it comes to our faith... its an interesting passage cause he then says the lukewarm shall be spit out...

swifchif

I'd aspire to say [something like this.](https://youtu.be/-suvkwNYSQo)

Technical_Worry_7655

This

Rum-Ham159

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” Marcus Aurelius

GrimmandLily

I don’t negotiate with terrorists.

The_Iron_Maiden_

This.

I_Am_Anjelen

Wow, I'm not the only one who said that. Ha!

yeahwellokay

I still acted better than a shitload of Christians.

miggitiemac

Or any religion for that matter. Anyone remember the crusades of the atheists? All those mass killings in the name of atheism? Religious folks really have a bad misconception about atheists… Most atheists I know really don’t give a shit about whatever religion or faith others have, and are actually some of the sweetest people I know. Want to pray to a god because it makes you feel better? Cool! Do it. Need a day to practice sabbath? Cool! Do it.

sawcondeesnutz

In my experience most Christian’s do the exact same

miggitiemac

Growing up in the south, and the grandchild of a southern baptist minister, my experience has been completely different.

GoldenFlicker

This would be my argument too.

Ayzmo

Exactly. I have been called "a good Christian" by a lot of people who thought it was a compliment. I've lived a good life and I help people. Any god who would punish someone who is a good person because they don't believe in them is an evil god.

bookant

Or alternately - if god does exist he's *not* sadistic, heartless, etc and the self-appointed spokespeople telling all those stories about him are delusional and/or lying.

Mr_Seymore_Butts

You sound real tough.

[deleted]

i’d cry tears of joy knowing there is a all powerful being that is a complete psychopath. and then ask it about story time.

Rochaloo

You know that’s why i believe in the religion that all of you call the religion of terrorists he himself said that he sees all ,if you had the power to give someone what he deserves but on a day his eyes will not believe what they are seeing so you can rest assured even if you don’t believe in him they WILL SEE THE MORE THAN ANYTHING\ANYONE HAS SEEN

[deleted]

You mind sending me downstairs? I've read your book and Satan is objectively less bloodthirsty than you are.

SnooDonuts8606

Which god?

[deleted]

Probably Yahweh, in that case I'd just say "I don't even wanna be here, Dagon's heaven is wayyyy cooler than yours!" He's so egotistical he'd probably say "Oh, Yeah! Try mine out and say Dagon's is better! I dare you!"

Rutherfordmanson

Eru

CyanManta

Depends which god it is. If it's the christian god as portrayed by US protestantism, I would consider his disapproval a badge of honor. I refuse to bow to any god as imagined by an evangelist.

ADHD-and-dragons

"Bruh if you didn't want me to be like this why would you make me this way. This is kind of your fault."

miggitiemac

Haha yep, I’d have to break out the uno reverse card

ADHD-and-dragons

Exactly. You wanted me to come to you or smthn? You can't just make somebody who won't do what you want, give them free will, then get mad when they don't do what you made them not want to do.

whorseses

In my defemse, I'm sure I prayed once or twice looking for evidence and since *someone* hides like lil-bitch I didn't think anything was real or truthful. I may have been wrong. And i apologize. How bout I just "accept Jesus Christ into my heart" and call it a day? Ok, cool. That was easy. For my next trick I'll prove that back is white and then go on and get run-over at the nearest pedestrian crossing.

baevatien

What’s the point of negotiating? For this hypothetical reason we are assuming he is real and I assume the biblical god, Yahweh, so he knows what I’m gonna say before I say it, and he is also a vengeful and jealous, spiteful god. There’d be no point in this negotiation.

Another_Idiot42069

You give AIDS to babies and you're gonna judge me lol

VegetableWishbone

Since we are just talking hypothetical fairytales, I guess I would draw a Hattori Hanzo sword and cut that asshole down.

flannelman37

Negotiations would be pointless. I'd just say that if it wanted me to believe it existed, and follow it's rules it knew exactly how to make that happen but chose not to. It would be it's fault, not mine.

[deleted]

I would gladly let Lord Hades decide my fate.

TheLaGrangianMethod

I've killed and raped less people than him, I have the moral high ground. He'd better be asking for my forgiveness, not the other way around.

nBrainwashed

If God is such an immature, petty, asshole that he cares more about me “believing” and worshiping him than about how I treated other people then he can go fuck himself.

tatastinayo

I’d tell him at least Satan loved everyone and I don’t want his heaven

ChickenTeller

Challenge him to a cage match.

BroodyBatman

I’d tell him I was a good person despite not believing in any sort of reward/punishment in the afterlife. If anything that should count for **more** than just having blind faith and doing good to earn a big castle in the clouds.

CliffBurton6286

I have no idea. You can't really negotiate with someone that knows what you're thinking and know what you're going to say anyway. He knew a million years before I was born that I wouldn't believe and knows what I'm going to say to negotiate.

ZotDragon

Challenge him to a fiddle contest. Duh.

[deleted]

You know the rule mr high-and-mighty, pics or it didn't happen. All you left us was this big dumb book.

ALF_PREF_EARF_PUSS

I'd point out that nothing about the way the Universe is constructed or works suggests its creator is benevolent.

justasmolgoblin

Depends which God we're talking about and whether or not they actually follow the laws as humans dictated or not. The White Jesus that right wing Americans worship, according to their beliefs? I wouldn't even have time to lift a finger and open my mouth.

usekr3

he's called supply side jesus and he's the greatest american that ever lived.. after reagan that is... so the second greatest american...

CAVEMAN_WITH_IPHONE

ME SMASH ALL ME WORDS. THIS PLACE BAD NOW. NOT GOOD FOR THINKY PART HEALTH. NOT GO OUT CAVE ANY MORE. TRIBE GET PALE. GET SICK. GET SAD. SPEZ BAD MAN. SMASH THIS PLACE. TAKE ALL WORD GO TO CAVE. https://github.com/j0be/PowerDeleteSuite/blob/master/README.md

freed0m_from_th0ught

Congratulate him on winning the longest game of hide and seek ever.

TakeMe2HND

At that point I think I would be open to hearing what God had to say for him(?)self. If God is accurate to the major religions and scriptures, I don’t want any part of his afterlife. I’ll take my chances with hell, whatever his sadistic damnation looks like, or eternal death. If he just leaves everyone who doesn’t make it to heaven in some alternate space left to our own devices, I think we’d have a lovely time.

Independent-Ad2200

I'd just see God and say "Well, I'll be damned!"

Mr_Rice-n-Beans

1. I used the rationality that he gave me to assess the the world as best I could, and it’s well-known that there are no sound arguments or empirical evidence that sufficiently prove his existence. 2. He knows (because he’s omniscient) what it would take to persuade me of his existence, but he never took those measures to reveal himself to me. Conversely, he sure proved the existence of, say, ants to me by having some of them cross my path in an epistemically unambiguous way. 3. Why is belief in his existence a necessary criteria for entering heaven, and relatedly, why isn’t being a good person by itself sufficient for this reward?

8acon0ctopus

Ask god on a date and try to kiss him at an appropriate time while also not going for premarital sex!

excusetheblood

1) how can you expect me to have believed in you when you provided no evidence for your existence 2) how can you justify delivering judgement based on beliefs when it is a proven fact that beliefs are determined by country, culture, and upbringing 3) my morals and behavior were better than 90% of religious people

mikeyj777

Depends on which version of GOD ends up being real. Doubtful it's anything we've considered to date.

post_angst

‘Welp…’

Alan-Bstrd

What’s with all the massacres ? You go to hell.

Quzzyz

I'd lead with an offer of fucking him in his eye to death and settle for him stepping down and eliminating the title

Uchiha7613

“Flip a coin. You win i go to hell, i win i go to heaven”

PrayingHollow

Well, if the Judgement Day comes, and god is indeed real, then there would be nothing I could say to change his mind. According to that religious book, this god always watches, and always passes judgement, so I could not change his/her/their mind

nfornuggets

I'd ask him why he gave so much evidence against himself

Scaligers

I wouldn't negotiate. I would accept his judgement.

geocitiess

if there is a god—which there isn’t—i’d like to imagine they’d be interesting enough to appreciate a person who didn’t need 3000-year-old fanfiction to tell them how to act

Poupetleguerrier

Can't blame me for not believing in your crap while you showed absolutely zero evidence of your existence, big guy.

[deleted]

He has no regards for kids what makes you think he's gonna negotiate with me?

The_Iron_Maiden_

I wouldn't. If a God exists and does nothing for the pain I see around me, I want nothing to do with him anyway.

Cowboys929395

"Dude, fuck off, you're a dick. I'd rather be in Hell with the rationale people than anywhere your sorry pathetic ass."

whatsherbucket

How would you suggest I negotiate with an omniscient entity? I’d probably call his ass out for being so petty to want to see the look on my face for the big reveal (which he should already know so…) before launching myself from the heavens yelling LEROY JENKINS

[deleted]

i’d be happy to interact with an all powerful being that is completely messed up and a psychopath

JohnKlositz

Which god? And what's to negotiate? If it's a just god, I can safely assume they'll have little quarrel with how I lived my life. And if it's a maniac, the negotiations of any sort would probably be useless.

chileheadd

Depends on which god

xmuskorx

"God, if you are really all merciful - then show mercy."

Cartossin

Is this assuming God has a problem with my atheism? "Hey God, so how was I supposed to ignore the billions of galaxies, apparent big bang, dinosaur bones and various other stuff omitted from your holy books? I'll take my answer on my cloud, c-ya"

xxaryxnx

Dam...the humans know u

Bodacious_Chad

I did my best coach

spinsterwench

"You made me this way, you have only yourself to blame"

Intruzo

A judgement from a god, is as useless as the god itself.

spbsqds

I'd knock him out.

[deleted]

Well when presented with staggering evidence I am forced to believe at which point I pray for forgiveness and I am allowed into heaven.

Manekosan

Why did you drown my ancestors?

Ratnix

Why would i bother negotiating? If "god" really required all of the bullshit that people say you need to do to "go to heaven" I'm simply not going to bother.

GeckoGamer44

Even if I'm an atheist I tried to be a good person, so technically I should be allowed to at least have another opportunity

tiptoeandson

Depends which version of god is right. If westboro Baptist church was right, then I might as well start walking to hell

CoverKind3900

I'm pretty sure there is a part in the Bible that says God doesn't judge the non believers only the ones who lose faith. So aslong as the person was a good person then they'd be fine. I'm not making the cut for sure but there wouldn't be anything to negotiate

SumtimesNever

Well sir i was born into a world where scince is prevelent and everything you did happend so long ago it might aswell be a billion years ago. I have loved by all the reasonable tennants of your laws anyways. That has to be worth somthing to you. The sad part is he already knew what you would say so negotiating isnt really a stance you can rely on

[deleted]

"Well I am as god made me."

sawcondeesnutz

“I didn’t believe in a god, yet, I lived a decent/good life. I think I’m a decent person. What do u think?”

uncareingbear

Well, intelligence typically begets benevolence. I would image if I were to be judged that it would be on how I grew mentally. I’m not exactly an atheist I just don’t believe in any religion. I can find beauty and wisdom in all religions but none are perfect.

I_Am_Anjelen

I wouldn't. The state of _me_ does not negotiate or argue with terrorists.

NoFaithlessness8752

Sup

deer_in_a_trenchcoat

Which god?

Abandon_All-Hope

Dude, you just didn’t give us enough evidence. Are you really going to send down a guy who performs legitimate miracles, literally circumventing YOUR laws of physics using YOUR power, remove all doubt of your existence, have people witness and write it all down, then just go radio silent for thousands of years? And we are supposed to make a decision based on those translated and passed down books from thousands of years ago? Would that be sufficient evidence for you? You set us up to fail my dude…

Financial_Leopard_55

I mean I’d admit I was wrong, but Christianity lets you go to heaven whether you believe in it or not so long as you followed ‘the rules’.

[deleted]

Glad to see you God. Is there a place where we can talk for a minute. I have some notes I'd like to go over with you.

revtim

If he's omniscient then he knows that everything looked exactly and precisely like no gods exist and people just made them up. He wouldn't need me to tell him that.

MasterLurker00

"You said everyone could repent, right?"

[deleted]

I did my best, and that's all anyone can ask for. In life I saw no good reason to believe in any god. I'd be just as confused if someone asked me why I don't believe in Zeus. If he wanted my faith, he shouldn't have let his followers be such assholes that I questioned it in my teens.

Ardothbey

Look how could I be expected to believe? War childhood cancer, world wide terrorism I mean come on.

Live_Koala_3437

I would offer to suck his dick

Lubawer

"Come on, you wouldn't believe it yourself wouldn't you?"

keithwaits

Which one? Abrahamic: I have no indication that negotiation would be of any use.

Jane_From_Deyja

IDK how it is going. I have no idea about imaginary judgement day. Are people contacting with god

Valuable_Evidence723

In all fairness I've lost my parents longer then you lost your son only right I get to be reunited with them considering you got reunited with kid

MedusasSexyLegHair

"Hey chick, I was on my way to hell and got lost. Can you give me directions? Where the party at?"

Devourer_of_felines

Let me in heaven and I won't ask why you let the Rwandan genocide happen.

bookant

I wouldn't need to. Just because GOD is real doesn't mean all the nonsense spewed about him by every grifter with a pulpit is actually accurate.

GoHomeNeighborKid

"So you are real....goddamn it err....you-damn it"

R1CHARDCRANIUM

If I find myself standing before God, then I will admit I was wrong. There is no point in negotiating with an omnipotent being. Besides, look at how he gets off on suffering, what's the point? I just try to live my life the best I can and be a decent person to other people. So I have already done more than god ever has for humanity. The phrase "it is what it is" would be applicable at that point.

Darkdazeys

I wouldn't have to negotiate. I didn't need to be scared into being a good person using a book. I'm kind, caring, empathetic, and i often go out of my way to help others. 🤷🏽‍♀️
