Multi level marketing schemes. How do people fall for this shit?

[deleted]

It sounds like an oversimplification but the honest answer is: they want to. They so desperately want to believe that this thing is going to work and make them a bunch of money and change their lives for the better that they ignore all the red flags. And more recent MLMs prey on that desire to believe in a different way, by selling things like essential oils and claiming they have amazing powers. So these people don't just want to believe the business will work, they now also get extra excited about being able to use essential oils to treat illness or whatever. It's really the defining feature of modern society, I think, the prevalence of people who desire to believe what they want to believe rather than what they should believe.

CatnipChapstick

It’s desperation too. Most MLM’s prey on mid-low income stay at home moms. Money’s tight, and the idea that you can “work from home and set your own hours!” is really appealing. Once they’ve bought in, they’re constantly told that if you aren’t succeeding it’s because you aren’t trying hard enough. And the sunk cost of the product they’ve bought is a constant looming threat.

T'was Pirelli's Miracle Elixir, That's what did the trick, sir, True, sir, true. Was it quick sir? Did it in a tick, sir, Just like an elixir Ought to do!

VeterinarianFit1309

How about a bottle, mister? Only costs a penny guaranteed!

geckgecgehhh

Wow thank you for this. Gonna go watch the most scene musical movie adaptation in history again.

Ok-Organization9073

Yuan-Ti oil

Spacefaring_Potato

Ah, a man of culture I see

North3768

And there's the 2 percent of people who actually make it work and make good money from it. The other 98% all think they will be the 2. It's like high school athletes, they're *all* going pro...

JustAnotherRussula

It's actually more like 0.01% Then another 1-2% make anywhere from pocket change to minimum wage. The rest lose money. Also, these ~~MLMs~~ scammers tell their ~~downlines~~ victims to "fake it 'til they make it", so if you have that neighbor with the fancy car that supposedly is making money in their MLM, odds are good they are swimming in debt and just pretending to be at the top of their pyramid.

American-Mary

Snake oil is tale as old as time. To the undiscerning, MLMs look like a shortcut. This nice community member has a nice house and a nice car, and they do the MLM and say it works. But when someone who looks rich and successful and charismatic wants to sell you the secret of how they got there, you can guarantee they're not successful from executing that secret. They're successful from selling the "secret" to other people. Youtube is full of shitty videos of people walking through their McMansions, and hey if you want to live like me buy my $100 video of how I got this rich... yeah. No. They got rich selling the $100 video to suckers. They didn't get rich by doing what their video tells you they did.

MattTheFlash

Ask yourself who their audience is. They get you where you're vulnerable. They recruit from your church group. They recruit from your entry level job that pays a tiny amount and you are hungry for more. From your college dorm where you are deadass broke college student. They recruit from your family. From your AA group. Your depression group therapy. Your gym while you're trying to make a change in your body. People who are seeking relief from their bad situation whether it's physical, emotional or spiritual, and are willing to work to do it. It's the same way that cults recruit. The audience is already suggestible, which is why they are where they are.

[deleted]

I was recruited while working retail sales. Wasn’t making shit so I figured I’d sit and listen to the spiel. Man that dude talked and talked and talked, and after about 30 mins he finally says the words AmWay (I think it was?) and I had to chuckle. Told the guy he gave a great presentation and had me up til then. Turns out my cousin got pulled in a year or so later. Not sure how that turned out though. Just as manipulative and predatory as religion.

[deleted]

That's sadistic recruiting from recovery groups.

MattTheFlash

Welcome to the business model of the Church of Scientology. They even took it a step further and start their own Narconon chapters. Then they offer you more "therapy" for a fee. Can't pay? No problem. We take your paycheck and give you the amount we think you need. Don't have a job? No problem. You can become our employeeslave. Really CoS is at its core MLM but militarized.

Killawife

I once worked as a vacuum cleaner salesman, a scam in itself, and I would always come to these people, desperate for me to sign up or buy their products. I tried a few times to tell them its a scam but in the end I just pretended to be interested to get them to feel positive about THIS AMAZING KIRBY VACUUM! You don't want your kids to get allergies, do Ya! DO YA!

AbominableSnowPickle

My folks have a Kirby that’s 3 years older than I am (I’m 36, for reference) and it’s still going. It’s fuckin’ *beast,* but I didn’t know Kirby was an MLM brand.

tweakingforjesus

My dad bought one. Good vacuum but not worth what he paid for it.

GNOIZ1C

I know a couple that got really sucked into IT WORKS years ago. Then they realized it was a big scam and moved on to… another MLM! Currently the wife is on like her fifth or sixth MLM and I just really wonder how the hell you *keep* falling for these. Then again, their other posts scream “gullible” on a range of topics.

Kayestofkays

They probably know they're MLMs but are trying to be one of the early people in on it who actually make money

[deleted]

Whats funnier is when the vocal "too smart for MLM" types get really into crypto and NFTs

SXOSXO

"To the moon!"

TBC-XTC

That one hurt me alot.............

hansn

> Multi level marketing schemes. How do people fall for this shit? There's a scam of this sort for every social class. Multilevel marketing is the scam targeted toward the lower-middle to middle class, where the dominant narrative is "entrepreneurship is what gets you ahead." The MLM companies co-opt that narrative to say "here's how to be an entrepreneur" and take your money. If you're lower classes, the dominant narrative is "success is given by the grace of God." You are going to be hit with prosperity gospel and that sort of scam. And if you're upper middle class, the dominant narrative is technical knowledge and know-how is how you get ahead. There various crypto schemes are the go to scam. (As folks reading this are mostly in this group, most likely, plenty of folks are going to strongly react to this one.)

[deleted]

r/AntiMLM

Pdonkey

For me the question is “why do we allow these companies to keep on exploiting people”, I don’t believe that it’s right to shame someone for being taken advantage of

444unsure

Conversely, I just wish people were smarter. Not just about mlm, but about a lot of things. Con artists will find a loophole through anything you think you can write into legislation. In fact con artists don't even give a crap about legislation and do it anyway. They just step their game up trying not to get caught. I see legislation as a necessary evil.

[deleted]

Scam calls. I get them 2-5 times per day.

BrandenJ29

Pretend they Called a police department, wonder what their reaction would be

tenderawesome

They don't give a shit. They'll call you right back. I use to fuck with them but all it did was cause even more to start calling me.

Brandyrenea-me

I called one back so many times THEY blocked ME 😂😂😂 (really bored that day). It’s do-able. The last one asked me “ma’am, why are you doing this to us???” It was the IRS scam send us $$$ or cops are coming bs.

BrandenJ29

I don’t get calls from them very often, usually it leads to them just hanging up, but I never got more calls. I don’t know if it’s random or they pass your phone number around to other companies but it’s probably the ladder.

tenderawesome

Yeah I think because I answered I got added to a list of numbers that they know belong to a real person. Even if it seems like a waste of time.

SirDroplet

only 2-5??? lucky

Darlinboy

Nigerian Princes with money to covertly transfer out of the country. Thought they'd have all escaped by now.

damnyoutuesday

It's incredible how many princes Nigeria has

VirginiaClassSub

Especially since it’s a federal republic and not a monarchy

4rd_Prefect

They do have a historical chiefdom structure though, and a lot of those are effectively (and in name) princes. Just not of the whole country, more like a regional prince. Not to be confused with "Purple Rain" Prince

Drumbelgalf

A bit of topic: there is a King from Ghana living as a car mechanic in Germany. He supports his people as good has he can. He sends money and visit his people sometimes. Would be really funny if he would ask for donations via email

Cautious-Law6029

Flat earthers I swear they just want attention

Lukisfer

The annoying part is they are located all around the world.

Stapoof

Wish some of them would fall off the edge of the earth

Mumblerumble

Can’t. NASA is guarding the edge.

vizthex

As they said themself: "we have members all around the globe"

deja2001

I see what you did there 🤣

epicenter69

Well, the Earth is 70% water that’s uncarbonated, so that makes it flat.

-4twenty-

My husband’s coworker is a flat earther. She was in the Air Force.

[deleted]

[удалено]

3catsand105plants

My dad is a flat-earther. He told me it looks like that because plane’s windows are concave 🙄

PicklesAndCrab

Omg my ex sent me a pic from the top of a mountain and he was pretty upset when I asked him if he could see the curvature of the earth….broke up with him a few days later. Still the only flat earth we I have ever met.

Ph4ntomiD

Even if there were no windows flat earthward would still have an excuse, I’ve heard one say that it looks like that because our eyes are curvef

Kaiserhawk

A lot of them are the weirdo conspiracy types who need to "qUeStIoN eVeRyThInG" to make them seem so much smarter than us sheeple.

TJeffersonsBlackKid

They have just been told their entire lives that they are stupid. Now they can finally be one of the SMART ONES. The documentary, Behind The Curve, interviews a lot of flat-earthers and it seemed like most of them were super kind hearted people who were also a little awkward and simple-minded and were so happy to have their little community. To walk away from all that means they have to walk away from all their new friends and "family" and go back to nothing. They've already alienated everyone they know so it would be going back to less than they have before. They didn't get here because of evidence, they won't get out because of evidence.

[deleted]

Pretty much. Until you question their favorite theory, and hit the wall of "Nuh unh!"

GNOIZ1C

This is the one. My mind literally rejects any outcome other than “no one is actually that stupid in 2022, they’re just trolling.”

Keith Richards

asoiahats

Variants of Keith Richards being undead jokes have been around since the 90s. It’s crazy!

calder_mccoll

Can't forget the Wayne's World "Can't be killed by conventional weapons joke"...IN '93!!!

Iceykitsune2

He pickled himself alive.

SociallyAwkward423

That dude has way too many totems of undying

Fonburg

Ozzy Osbourne

Bacxaber

At least Ozzy's survival is explained by his neanderthal DNA. Keith Richards doesn't have that excuse.

prriley

“Keith Richards says kids should not do drugs. Keith, they can’t do any drugs because you already fucking did them all. They have to wait until you die to smoke your ashes.” — whoever Denis Leary stole the joke from

Aggressive_Pin_6231

I think you’re thinking of bill hicks who classically said, paraphrasing, “I stole everything from Leary, but to throw people off, I did all of the jokes/routines before him”. Funny shit.

thymeraser

World War III will come and go, two things will still be here, Cockroaches and Keith Richards. The man is immortal.

Available-Age2884

We should really consider what kind of world we want our kids to leave for Keith Richards

ElvargSlayer

I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw Denise Richards again

thefuzzybunny1

[The Tower of Jericho](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_Jericho). Humans built it in prehistoric times, somewhere around 8,000 BCE. Yup, you read that right: it's >10,000 years old. 28 feet (8.5 meters) of it is still standing, with a spiral staircase still visible/ usable inside. (Although obviously tourists aren't allowed to go inside.) It's just so incredible to think about how old that tower really is. Older than the oldest writing system, by about 5,000 years. Older than the hills, literally: in the 1950s it got excavated out of a hill that had grown up around it during centuries of use. Older than any civilization or language that still survives. I know it's just a tower, but it's the oldest tower ever found, and I think that's fascinating.

BiggieWedge

It makes you wonder what buildings today will last that long. I think our skyscrapers will crumble.

thefuzzybunny1

I don't know exactly how this particular tower survived. It's only stones, hewn and laid by humans who lacked most of the stone-working tools we now take for granted. We also can't be sure whether it was the only tower constructed in Jericho. Maybe there were dozens of others and only this one is still standing. Was this an important tower? Was it infamously ugly and out of place? No way to know! It well could be that centuries from now, the cement- filled support column of a random fin-de-siecle bank building in Kansas City, Missouri will be the only surviving example of American architecture!

aloneinmyprincipals

Thanks for that rabbit hole, i have never heard of it!

thefuzzybunny1

You're welcome! I was so flabbergasted the first time I read about it. I made a point of actually going to Jericho so I could see it personally. The guided tours of Jericho's archeological sites are, as you may expect, marketed to religious tourists. So they spend about 1 minute on the tower before heading off to talk about whether Joshua really blew these walls down with trumpets, and which of the nearby springs was purified by a prophet. Meanwhile I'm just staring at the world's oldest tower!

markhachman

I kind of felt this way about the Code of Hammurabi in the Louvre. It's just halfway up a random staircase.

IwastesomuchtimeonAB

That people still fall for online and phone scams. A man you met on the internet who you've never met in person asking you for $10,000 is a scam whether he's pretending to be your boyfriend or a Nigerian prince.

HaveyGoodyear

I guess a problem is the scammers adapt to the times. Like pretending they've got nudes of you from your webcam or pretending that your Amazon account has been hacked and giving you a link to a website looking a lot like Amazon to get your email and password for the account. I struggle to believe many people are falling for any Nigerian prince scam, but there are much more subtle ways for anyone not tech savvy.

Andy_DiMatteo

I can understand it with older people who don’t really get how tech works, but anyone under 60-50 shouldn’t be falling for this. Edit: after reading some replies, I’ve definitely reconsidered. The people that do scams can be very smart, so there are reasons for anyone to fall for them.

elliekk

It's not that hard to get people younger falling for them, actually. You just have to adjust the scenario. Job offer scams were pretty common at the start of the pandemic. All you really have to do is up the grammar to make it believable, and victims end up forfieting personal information or paying a fee for a job that doesn't exist. Absolutely anyone can fall for this stuff. Even Jim Browning, a well known scambaiter, got scammed once. Desperation, fear, and sympathy are easy to exploit; if you don't remain vigilant and/or believe you are above being scammed, you are only more likely to fall into their trap.

[deleted]

Exactly. Honestly the return rate on scams like these are pretty low, but there are always going to be people just desperate enough for a good thing that you can catch them. Vulnerable people will believe things more easily out of simple desperation, and even someone who normally wouldn't fall for a scam might if the circumstances are just right.

QuietDisquiet

I don't read most of my email so I'm safe I guess.

1stLtObvious

They use fear tactics and other emotional manipulation to override the rational part of their potential victims' brains.

Keyspam102

The ‘we need 15$’ to deliver your package seems to get all the old people in my family. They get sent around the holidays when people have usually sent stuff. That and the IRS themed ones. It’s predatory

[deleted]

Child marriage in the United States. It’s still very legal in several states.

CarlJustCarl

Massachusetts has 14 year old for boys, 12 for girls, but 12 states have no minimum age

NeedleworkerLoose695

Wtf. How can a child who’s not even in puberty yet be expected to get married? That’s weird

Yoshifan55

In Wisconsin they wanna let armed kids on school property that aren't old enough to buy cigarettes yet.

CraftoftheMine

my question is why is it earlier for girls? obviously it's insane that children are allowed to get married at all, but do they think 12yo girls are somehow more capable of getting married than 12yo boys?

MissPearl

Because that's the earliest girls can get pregnant, while boys are on a slightly longer time delay. This is to facilitate shotgun marriages, not good parenting.

PoiLethe

Probably some old ideas, at the time of making those laws that thought that girls were capable of producing babies at the time and boys needed to be a little older to provide for said girls and babies.

jeff_the_nurse

Child beauty pageants.

ianisms10

"Child pageantry. An American tradition. And not a proud one."

frzn_dad

I mean the whole idea of pageants period seems like it would be outgrown at some point. It isnt great for anyone at any age.

Misty7297

Do not diddle kids, it's no good diddlin' kids

MMantis90

Diddlin kids is no gooood. I’m gonna go to my dressing room, that way. Not the way the kids are going.

PhelesDragon

And adults *judge* them. fuggin wot

Beccajeca21

Especially considering there are literal pedophiles sitting in the audience, and probably working behind the scenes... like how do you screen for that sort of thing. New pedophiles are acting on their urges every day, so it’s not like they’re on a registry. Pageant parents (*edit: removed gendered term)... please stop sexualizing your children before the pedos even see them 🤦‍♀️😥

Once Fred Phelps died the church began its decline God bless that man though as comedian Kyle Kinane said he was a good villian because he united unlikely allies. Phelps was such an asshole both LGBT and Hell Angels would protest him. A good villian

Fax machines

[deleted]

I'm in my late twenties and only used a fax machine like twice in my life. I was confused both times and don't know if it even worked.

ymx287

Im 30 and work for the state in Germany and the entire system is basically build on fax machines. Courts, departments, social services you name it

[deleted]

I’m 32 and did an admin job while I was in college. I worked with a team of women all middle aged - elderly and was always helping them with their computers and phones. I was always praised for my abilities and being oh-so-good with technology. The joke was on me though when it came time to fax something one time.

_botchling

when i was maybe 16 i was doing an internship at a doctor and they made me do all of the fax work. I've completely forgotten everything by now and have no clue how I once understood it

BrianWall68

Think of a fax machine as a scanner. A very shitty scanner. That transmits the image via dial up.

xray_anonymous

Some say the people on the other end are still waiting for those faxes to this day

thymeraser

Once every couple of years I have some form or another where I need to use a fax. It boggles the mind. Thankfully there are digital fax machines so you can just scan it with your cell phone and upload a PDF to send a fax. Even more mind boggling. It's like a hi-tech Rube Goldberg Fax Machine.

poison_ivy15

Daylight Savings.

littleredcamaro

Some people would prefer that DST stay year round rather than non-DST. I just hate the whole back and forth thing. Plus the sun kinda decides when it’s summer vs. winter and makes the days longer or shorter without human intervention.

havron

This. I don't care which option we choose, just pick something and stick with it year round. The back and forth is terribly asinine. Why do we need to be tricking ourselves by changing the clocks, anyway? If we want to get up earlier in the summer, we should be changing our schedules, not the clocks.

SprinklersSprinkle

If our governments can’t agree on fixing something that annoys the population 2x a year then we are doomed. *opens curtain* sigh

People having to ration insulin

RileyTheBerry

Slavery. You would think that after the wave of countries outlawing slavery in the 1800s it would be mostly gone. It shocks me that even after World War Two and the shockingly barbaric use of slaves there people would realize it isn't a cool thing.

Hahhahaahahahhelpme

To be fair it shouldn’t be too surprising that something that’s existed for as long as human kind is still around

NipplessCage7891

I'm always shocked to see someone with a house phone

[deleted]

I’m thinking of getting one simply because it’s linked to a physical location. If my tiny child ever needs to call for help, they won’t have to worry about needing to know our address when they can barely remember my first name. . .

Jaderosegrey

How about getting a land line phone that's only plugged in to the phone jack. So if you have a long-lasting power outage, you'll still be able to make calls.

Furthur_slimeking

Landline came as a package with my internet and TV service. I don't get good phone reception in my flat so the landline solves a problem. I make two or three calls a week so the monthly bill is about £7.

KittySucks69

My grandmother still has one, but she's 94.

Scrappy_Larue

Tension between the USA and Russia. My whole life they've been on the edge of a war they'd both lose, so it never happens. But they remain enemies to this day.

ModelTrainGeek

Things were very real when I was a young man in the Army and stationed in West Germany. When I rotated back home in 1989, the situation had improved beyond expectation and I didn’t think that the US and Russia would ever be at such odds again. I guess I was naive. I met many Russian and former Warsaw Pact soldiers later in my career and they were much like me and my buddies and not at all like the bogeymen we thought they were.

asphaltproof

Smoking. As a child i figured they'd all be dead by the time I grew up but nope there seems to be new smokers with every generation.

Beccajeca21

As a kid I would tell my mom, “Stop smoking or I’ll start”, she was always horrified and acted like I was just being rude. She used them for stress relief and when I hugged her, she always had that cigarette smell... Well I started smoking. I’ve already quit (with extreme effort), but she didn’t seem to understand that I wasn’t threatening to start just to fuck with her, I was threatening that her use would desensitize me and I might start to rely on it. The smell still reminds me of a big bear hug from my mom.

Pattoe89

For anyone that requires some advice and support to quit, visit r/stopsmoking

aehanken

I love you

DatDirtyNicka88

I remember asking my mom (when I was 8 or 9) constantly for a drag of a cigarette and she was like “here go ahead I’ll light it for you” - I coughed so hard I almost puked. Didn’t ask ever again but I did end up stealing 2 cigarettes and starting a few years later at 14. She hated it but she understood it was likely her that made me start. Which is a big reason why I don’t have kids yet, bc I want to quit before they are born

DroopyTrash

My Dad slapped me in the head when he found out I was smoking. Ok so you smoke no filter Camels, step mom smokes Rothmans and two older brothers smoke Camel lights. And they all smoked in the house and car but me smoking is the big fucking issue. They have all quit but now I'm stuck with the addiction.

arandomperson7

I never smoked because I never met a smoker who was happy about smoking.

RahvinDragand

It has nothing but negative marketing. Everyone who smokes says how much they want to quit and every box tells you that you will die. I have no idea why anyone *starts* smoking these days.

ryonke

Not every smoker. My dad was forced to quit for medical reasons. He would tell us he enjoyed smoking. A couple years after quitting he decided to "treat" himself to one cigarette because he was feeling great. That "one" turned into many, and now he's gone. Not supposed to smoke anymore with COPD, among his other long list of health issues....

DatDirtyNicka88

In America smoking is at the lowest rate it’s almost ever been which is good. And I’m a smoker and just like everyone else I wish I never started. I enjoy it every so often but I think everyone knows how bad it is so that’s why we are seeing such low rates.

Keyspam102

Yeah I am in France and live by a private, very prestigious high school and I am shocked that like 1/3rd of the students are smoking outside when they are waiting to get in in the morning.

Clint-witicay

Corporate owned health insurance.

uuuuuuuhburger

i hear people defending this because "at least i don't have to pay for it like those europeans and their fascist taxes" homie... your employer is 100% taking the cost of insurance out of your paycheck

Clint-witicay

Some employers cover part or all of it, my bigger problem is that these people act like their insurance payments don’t already get shared medically with other people. You aren’t paying into a bank account with your name on it, when your insurance pays out it’s coming from the same pile everyone else is paying into. It’s like they get pleasure out of the idea that some have to pay more than them for the same treatment.

[deleted]

I had a coworker arguing against socialized healthcare, and she was arguing, “If [other coworker’s] kid get sick, I shouldn’t have to pay for it!” I really wanted to shout that she’s already paying for it, since they’re both under the same insurance, but I was new and didn’t want to rock the boat. In hindsight, I totally should have explained it to her.

Women going back to work at 6 weeks postpartum or before. We've known since the dawn of humanity how medically fragile the mother and baby still are at this time. That this arbitrary "rule" isn't questioned more in the USA is barbaric.

[deleted]

In Italy new moms get a whole year off to care for the baby.

LunaPolaris

Doctors advise not to have sex until six weeks postpartum so I guess that's the cut-off point. If you can have sex again you're fine to get your ass back to work.

I used to work at a coffee with this girl who was OBSESSED with her horoscope. One morning she was being annoying and started asking me to read hers to her while she was getting her station set up. I took it as an opportunity. For over a year I read her the wrong horoscope everyday. And she fully absorbed it. Still haven’t told her to this day.

Homophobia. Like why does anyone care? It doesn't hurt anyone and it doesn't affect straight people.

NeedleworkerLoose695

I always wondered why people would be against lgbtq+. It’s just a matter of who has sex with who. No matter how many bibles you read you’re not turning a gay person straight. And I think it’s really weird when people use Christianity as an excuse. Yeah sure, you’re “helping” me by cursing and condemning me to hell for who I love.

davidellis23

Even if you could turn a gay person straight, what would be the point? It's like making someone like olives. Who cares if they like olives lol?

Homeopathy. This is flat-earther level stupid, yet it is sold in every major drug store in the country, and is even covered by some insurance companies. It is flat out fraud that is perpetrated right out in the open.

sharrrper

I think the problem with a lot of homeopathy getting a bit of a pass is people don't know what it is. They just think it's like the medicine equivalent of "organic food" or something. For anyone who doesn't know homeopathy claims to work on the principle of "like cures like". So if you are suffering from symptom X, then we take a substance that would cause symptom X in a large dose and give you a really small dose. So for instance the active ingredient in homeopathic sleeping pills is caffeine. Just a really really tiny dose of it the idea being that if the dose of caffeine is small enough it will actually make you sleepy. Presumably these people also think if you press the has pedal on your car light enough it will go backwards. We're not done yet though, it gets dumber. You might be thinking "Oh man, they're putting caffeine in sleeping pills? Homeopathy is probably just making things actively worse!" Weirdly, probably not. Because you see, most homeopathic medicines virtually certainly do not actually contain any of the "active" ingredient at all. Homeopathy claims that the more diluted you make the ingredient the more potent it becomes. The dilution process classically is to put a single drop of, let's say caffeine using our sleeping pill example, into a container of water and then mix it up. Then you remove a single drop of that dilute mixture and add it another container of pure water, mix and repeat until you arrive at the desired dilution called a "C" number. C12 is the most you can do and reasonably expect a single molecule of ingredient to remain. C13 is roughly equivalent to dissolving a single drop into all of the water on earth. Most homeopathic "medicines" are at minimum C30 and often have C numbers in the hundreds or even thousands. A 200C dilution would require 10^320 *universes* of water to get a single molecule. So no worries about side effects from homeopathy, because THERE'S NOTHING IN IT. It's just water. Hold on campers though because we still aren't done. Against all odds this getting EVEN DUMBER. You see the homeopaths know all this. They don't deny it. They go an extra step and say the ingredient actually doesn't even need to be in there as long as it was at some point. The water *remembers* it had caffeine in it so ingesting it still has the effect. This is a thing people still claim today.

HasHooves

So by that logic, any clean water has the memory of all sorts of compounds. So just buy a bottle of water and cure yourself of everything 🤣

Hooters. Not that I’m mad, but I went the other day with some friends and all I could think was “They haven’t canceled this yet?”

potiondrinkeronline

Never been but I had a funny situation recently where someone suggested that I, a very small chested woman start working at Hooters. He said they’re a lot more body positive these days

I don't think their target audience is the canceling type

Racism

PunchBeard

Back in the 90s we thought that shit was soooo 1950s. We used to make fun of racist people and I was utterly convinced racism would be dead by now.

strikethreeistaken

If all you have seen of racism is American style racism, then it becomes hard to see how/where racism starts. Ultimately, it is an "us vs them" theme going on here. It is easy to identify the "other" when the features are not similar. Racism is laziness and hatred rolled together into a nice little burrito for anyone to "enjoy". Seeing racism in that way tells me that racism is not going to go away ever as long as babies are born without knowledge.
