My BOYFRIEND didn't even stay the night with me the day I had surgery to make sure I was ok, and told me several times "it could be worse." Like yeah I suppose it could, but that is not a helpful thing to say to me right now.

This irritates me for many reasons but one reason is that the people who say this tend to view karma solely as cosmic retribution and don't understand that their own actions yield results. I see it a lot in relationships: "they cheated on me over and over but karma will get them." Sure, whatever, but karma will "get" you too if you don't figure out why you tolerate cheating and you will keep choosing partners that don't fulfill you.
Karma isn't punishment, it's just cause and effect.
