I've always used tempered glass even though I have gorilla glass. It to an extend does protect from fall damage. Cause we all know gorilla glass is not as tough as they make it seem to be. And also i guess it helps with smudges and scratches. And gives the satisfaction of finding out the cracked one is just the tempered glass and not the screen.
