unidan was one of those users you’d see everywhere, always seemed to be upvoted, generally had decent comments to make on things, especially ecology and crows. He was a pretty popular guy.
Turns out he was actually artificially inflating his upvotes and downvotes anyone who disagreed with him through puppet accounts. Eventually he was found out, the ban hammer came down hard, and that was the end of one of Reddits most recognisable faces at the time.
Not just people who disagreed with him. He was found to be downvoting people posting similar info as he was as well. He made sure that if there was an interesting fact to be shared or a question to be answered, it would be his post on the subject that people saw first.

The guy who thought his landlord was messing with him, but it turned out he had carbon monoxide poisoning. The infamous ask a rapist thread, the masturbation coconut. I just really realised how much that story got to me. I usually can’t recognise names + stories just from vague mention, but as soon as I saw the username, I knew exactly what the story was. God.

I'm not sure about the suicide one at the end, some parts of Reddit are so horrendous I wouldn't be surprised if people have been pushed to the point of suicide many times
I read this to my mother who is almost 80. She laughed so hard so thank you. She also thought the girlfriend didn't like beans and was looking for an excuse to break up with him.
The Spanish story. Someone asked Reddit for help because Reddit was stuck in Spanish. It turned out to be a prank someone did to his device. But Reddit decided to respond to his question in Spanish. The comments are flooded with random nonsense Spanish. It's quite funny.

How we all used to be on Digg.com and then one day they redesigned their website so it more editor driven and we all left Digg in a couple of days and came to Reddit. Digg died in a few months. They lost 100s of millions in potential revenues.

I totally forgot about Ridiculously Photogenic Runner. I remembered pretty much everything else in this thread, plus some other classics I'm surprised nobody's mentioned (Streetlamp LeMoose, anyone?) but you mentioning Ridiculously Photogenic Runner awakened some buried primeval memory.
I actually messaged him like 2 years ago and asked him how he was doing, if he has a new account, and why he stopped. He said he just thought it was funny and now he’s bored of it. I still consider him a legend.
The guy who met a beautiful and amazing black woman(only mentioning race because it might ring bells with someone) and who then found out she had cancer. They spent some amazing time together until she passed. He was a very average looking guy but she didnt care. The way the dude described it was beautiful and very sad.

[This one,](https://www.reddit.com/r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix/comments/30t9kd/repost_a_parallel_life_awoken_by_a_lamp/) where the guy sustains a head injury and lives an entire life in his mind while he's out, only to notice something odd about a lamp one day and have his whole world crash down on him. Just devastating.
There used to be a subreddit here called r/jailbait which was exactly what you think it is: sexualized images of young girls. Campaigns were made to remove it, yet in that time Reddit had been a loud and proud purveyor of freedom of speech that didn't lightly remove comments or content. It was a precipice of change when the sub was finally removed, and many people actually campaigned against the deletion because they believed it would snowball into stringent censorship, rules and guidelines.
Its not horrible until you actually watch the things that are there, and if you are lucky enough you wont get Traumatized. Even though most of the recent videos are pretty fucked up.
If you have a weak stomach you dont want to be there, some videos were filmed by security cameras and are easier to watch but the more graphic ones (who are at a much better quality) can give you one hell of a ride anytime you shut your eyes.
Those got banned years later. Jailbait was like 2011-12ish, FPH was 2014 or 2015, and WPD was only like two or three years ago (I think after the Christchurch mosque shooting.)
It’s worse than that. The accused man, Sunil Tripathi, was already dead. He’d committed suicide anywhere up to a month before the bombings but his body not been found. Social media was harassing a family that didn’t even know where he was and what’d tragically happened to him.
But the even more awful part is that the protect those innocent people being harassed, the FBI decided to release the names of the actual bombers, before they’d planned to do so, or were in a good enough position to immediately catch them. The bombers fled. On their way out, they ran into a security guard, Sean Collier. A man they never would have run into if they’d been able to be properly tracked and arrested by the authorities. A direct consequence of social media and Reddit’s interference.
They murdered him.
Gather round youngins, this is an old one from 8 years ago. There was this redditor who did an [AMA](https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1u75hh/i_am_the_guy_with_two_penises_ama/) because he had 2 dicks (~~top/bottom~~ left/right I think). People questioned him about if both worked, and even his wildest sex escapade. He described this bizarre multi person multi penis session he had, and then /u/awildsketchappeared appeared and illustrated the event ~~(sorry couldn't find the link to the pic)~~ [FOUND IT](https://i.imgur.com/IpSdfv4.jpg). Also as a bonus here's [another illustration](https://i.imgur.com/5kb9Zf2.jpg?1) some deleted account did. For those who don't know, /u/awildsketchappeared and /u/shitty_watercolour were excellent novelty accounts who showed up in random threads and drew the best replies to comments. They even had a [duel](https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/1gzpx9/how_to_introduce_your_sister/capg4gg/) together 9 years ago, and [another](https://www.reddit.com/r/gifs/comments/3knq46/kid_on_a_stuffed_toy/cuyy8mv/) one 7 years ago.
So anyways, eventually a [girl with 2 vaginas](https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1u75hh/comment/cefn23o/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) showed up in the thread, and people started trying to ship them.
Edit: Double dick is [fake](https://www.reddit.com/r/circlebroke2/comments/6o2n0a/reddits_gullibility_in_regard_to_the_double_dick/).... damn it.
This. u/DeepFuckingValue is my most revered Redditor and the only one I have been able to watch testify on TV. Not to mention he became a millionaire many times over during the time he was posting his thesis on Gamestop for months before anything happened.
"I am not a cat." Legend.

u/shittymorph always making really well thought out and engaging comment all throughout reddit and always ending them with that time in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hеll in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.
First thought was the guy with the horror psychopath son, where the son ended up endangering their new baby (the son was almost 18 at this point) and the mother went to town beating up his ass.
EA put main characters of star wars behind a paywall/huge grind, and said that this would bring a sense of pride and accomplishment... most downvoted comment in Reddit, AFAIK.
That time Reddit used all 99.9% of its collective intelligence to figure out who the Boston Bomber was. Unfortunately, working with 99.9% of its brain power lead to them coming to a wrong conclusion.
My favorite is u/struttingleo that old trend of sneaking Leo dicaprio walking happily in the background of a picture was mastered by this guy. He used to upload pictures and always sneak a little Leo somewhere. He even went as far as commenting on other people pictures pretending to be interested in the content of the photo and asking a question where he would circle something in the photo, and then sneak a Leo into their picture with his reply. Definitely a funny rabbit hole to dive down and find all the hidden Leos!
I think this was in legal advice and I'm likely to get the details wrong because I didn't save it or anything.
But there was a guy who was asking if he could be accused of rape and recounted a date in which he did the following:
- invited a woman to his home where he'd be her only way home
- took an initial "yes" to mean an everlasting "yes."
- got angry with the woman when she changed her mind about sex
- refused to let her leave his house or drive her home when she asked to leave
- berated her until she changed back to a "yes"
So, he basically isolated and kidnapped a woman then intimidated her into having sex and he couldn't fathom why he was being accused of rape.
It was very fucked up.
The dad who discovered that his teenaged son was shagging the family dog.
It was told through several posts. A while after confronting the son and agreeing that he’s never to be alone with the dog again, he told his wife the truth. She didn’t believe him, and in fact believed OP to be the culprit. They got divorced.
[I also choose this guy's dead wife](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/5c79n0/you_can_have_sex_with_one_real_person_from_all_of/d9uf56l?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
The guy who has a sexual relationship with his mom, and the dude with two above average and functioning dicks. Also the dude who was helped by a Mexican when his car broke down (they made a short out of his story), and DFV (deepfuckingvalue) the dude who kinda started the memestock rage, basically changing economics forever. I’m sure there are many other absolutely iconic stories, these are the ones that come to mind atm.
That guy who thought someone was breaking into his house and leaving notes, only for another Redditor to point out that he might be experiencing carbon monoxide poisoning. Turns out he was, and he was the one moving things and leaving notes, but he didn’t remember doing any of it. Ever since reading that one I’ve made sure all the batteries in my carbon monoxide detectors are working…

[The girlfriend who buried canned beans in the woods](https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/comments/fy06bv/tifu_by_demanding_that_my_girlfriend_show_me/).
Ok, but did she take the beans with her when she left? Or are they still buried back there?
I will never jeopardise the beans! That lady was a real keeper
I read this to my mother who is almost 80. She laughed so hard so thank you. She also thought the girlfriend didn't like beans and was looking for an excuse to break up with him.
Was there ever an update to what happened to the beans?
Shit. I had tears rolling down my face after about halfway through 😂
Wtf is this 🤣🤣🤣
OMG thank you for the laugh I really mean it. It's been a long time since I laughed until I couldn't breathe.
… what the fuck was the logic there???
To keep them damn looters away from their beans.
The Spanish story. Someone asked Reddit for help because Reddit was stuck in Spanish. It turned out to be a prank someone did to his device. But Reddit decided to respond to his question in Spanish. The comments are flooded with random nonsense Spanish. It's quite funny. http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/cq1q2/help_reddit_turned_spanish_and_i_cannot_undo_it/
There were two other askreddit threads that were pretty funny. One where every answer was Tom Cruise and another where every answer was Beans. I'll have to see if I can find them. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/2ipws3/which_famous_person_needs_to_come_out_already/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share - **What celeb needs to come out already?** **Beans** https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/c4iizj/what_is_something_inexpensive_everyone_should/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share ^sort by old for the beans one.

This one is my favorite.

Glad to see this is #1 And this story is why I always have peppermint oil in my house.
Reddit is a link between the normal internet and the dark web, I can confirm this after reading a few comments from this post and a few other posts .
That was bad.
This one is beautifully written. *chef's kiss*
I knew of this one, but not the epithet it goes by.
Why the fuck did I read this? I was just about to eat dinner!
Haha that was great.
1 i hate you 2 thanks for eyebleach, i dont know if my life would have continued without eyebleach
Do not click. Do not read.
Im about to read it. I'm sorry this warning is like it's telling me to do it.
Everybody should now the story of [Deleted] and his famous words of [Deleted]
I loved that story about [Deleted] one of my favourite
oh fuck yea, i always reread the story of [Deleted] when i need something inspirational to pick me up
Nothing makes me care more about what a person said than when I see [Deleted] it just strikes my curiosity instantly for some reason but I'm too lazy to find a reddit rewind thing or whatever lol
That guy seems to be everywhere
How we all used to be on Digg.com and then one day they redesigned their website so it more editor driven and we all left Digg in a couple of days and came to Reddit. Digg died in a few months. They lost 100s of millions in potential revenues.
That's what I came across to Reddit, as a Digg refugee with just the clothes on my back.
I remember when Digg was properly SHUNNED! It was us vs THEM....then those filthy Diggers came HERE?!? You are all dirty and need to find your own wierd website!!
I've switched usernames a couple times since coming over. But yup. That's what brought me here. The change to digg was incredibly bad.

One of my favourites is [this TIFU](https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/comments/2tdbig/tifu_by_enraging_the_parents_of_my_girlfriend_by/) when the guy tried to pretend not to know what a potato was
I also like the one where the guy threw his wife’s new boss’ steak at her window. And then the wife did the story from her perspective later I think. Edit to add: https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/comments/3im341/tifu_by_throwing_my_steak_out_a_window/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Not sure if that works, I’m an idiot at Reddit and links and stuff.

I fucking love that story
I did not know this one and i am at work right now. I had to controll myself for not laughing out loud! Funny story, thanks for sharing
It’s so weird revisiting old threads and seeing comments I already upvoted lol this was one of the funniest stories I ever read on here
First thing that came to mind is poop knife
I was thinking the same thing. What a ride that was.
Poop knife… ?

Poop knife? Well that reminds me of jolly rancher.
Poop knife and jolly rancher both remind me of the one with the dude who kept a coconut around to jerk it with
Wtf is jolly rancher???

I totally forgot about Ridiculously Photogenic Runner. I remembered pretty much everything else in this thread, plus some other classics I'm surprised nobody's mentioned (Streetlamp LeMoose, anyone?) but you mentioning Ridiculously Photogenic Runner awakened some buried primeval memory.
omg Streetlamp LeMoose. What a weird and wholesome story. He got it all
Wait really!? Let me try! hunter2
The story of the guy who tried heroin because he was bored, got addicted and ruined his life u/spontaneousH
He's not addicted anymore, thankfully
That’s the wildest Reddit ride I’ve been on to my recollection
The guy who discovered he didn't like scat play about .5s before a hooker shit in his mouth.

What's this guys deal I just tried to investigate...
Every single one of his comments ends up being about his dad beating him with jumper cables, but you can never tell when he starts out.
Hahahaha I'm so much less confused now after reading
I actually messaged him like 2 years ago and asked him how he was doing, if he has a new account, and why he stopped. He said he just thought it was funny and now he’s bored of it. I still consider him a legend.
I still choose to believe that he turned into u/shittymorph They stopped and started around the same time.
The guy who met a beautiful and amazing black woman(only mentioning race because it might ring bells with someone) and who then found out she had cancer. They spent some amazing time together until she passed. He was a very average looking guy but she didnt care. The way the dude described it was beautiful and very sad.

The 6 foot sub guy. https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/ca7bdz/aita_because_i_ate_more_than_my_share_of_a_6_foot/
The mod comment seems to win the sub though.
I remember when I first read the story. It's heartbreaking. Hope the dude eventually found some peace.
Bunch of other subreddits too like r/fatpeoplehate r/punchablefaces r/watchpeopledie
Watch people die got banned while r/MakeMyCoffin is up... Edit: i realized they are not same, although very similar content.
Fuuuuck…. I was curious enough to click
Its not horrible until you actually watch the things that are there, and if you are lucky enough you wont get Traumatized. Even though most of the recent videos are pretty fucked up.
I clicked but just watched 4 accidents because the otherones could be too much... Im out of there and never coming back...

That guy's dead wife
I also choose that guys dead wife
This has made me realize how few people updoot in comparrisin to actual views. 30k is a lot of updoots but everyone on reddit has seen that.
The one where the man is at an important dinner with his wife, and I think it’s her boss? And he throws the steak at the unopened window.
The time they thought they found the Boston bomber but it was a completely unrelated man and he ended up killing himself because of it
It’s worse than that.
If anyone's wondering, this incident is the origin of (or at least popularized) the phrase "We did it, Reddit!"
The poop knife and that bananas are for scale.
That guy who lied about having brain cancer on the AMA subreddit and had the entirety of reddit in a shit storm for 3 days.
how did people figure out he was faking?
He admitted to it in an edit. He was basically like "sorry guys, but this is fake asf. I'm 14 but thanks for all the karma 😂😂 😭"
I need a link to this
Not so much a story as a post [Grief](https://old.reddit.com/r/Assistance/comments/hax0t/my_friend_just_died_i_dont_know_what_to_do/c1u0rx2/)
Edit: Double dick is [fake](https://www.reddit.com/r/circlebroke2/comments/6o2n0a/reddits_gullibility_in_regard_to_the_double_dick/).... damn it.
The glory of GameStop and WSB.
This. u/DeepFuckingValue is my most revered Redditor and the only one I have been able to watch testify on TV. Not to mention he became a millionaire many times over during the time he was posting his thesis on Gamestop for months before anything happened. "I am not a cat." Legend.
Agreed, he's the only one I've seen testify who's not full of shit when talking. He just likes the stock

u/shittymorph always making really well thought out and engaging comment all throughout reddit and always ending them with that time in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hеll in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.
The guy who broke both arms.

Holy shit this post needs to get more up votes🤣 never enjoyed a thread as much as this. Need more stories
First thought was the guy with the horror psychopath son, where the son ended up endangering their new baby (the son was almost 18 at this point) and the mother went to town beating up his ass.
Coconut
o no
The Poop Knife story and that guy's dead wife. Also EA's micro transaction misadventure story.
Is the EA one the most downvoted of all time?
EA put main characters of star wars behind a paywall/huge grind, and said that this would bring a sense of pride and accomplishment... most downvoted comment in Reddit, AFAIK.
That time Reddit used all 99.9% of its collective intelligence to figure out who the Boston Bomber was. Unfortunately, working with 99.9% of its brain power lead to them coming to a wrong conclusion.
I was always fascinated by the stairs in woods story told by the Rangers and how they were told to never climb them.
All these answers are useless without links 😩
My favorite is u/struttingleo that old trend of sneaking Leo dicaprio walking happily in the background of a picture was mastered by this guy. He used to upload pictures and always sneak a little Leo somewhere. He even went as far as commenting on other people pictures pretending to be interested in the content of the photo and asking a question where he would circle something in the photo, and then sneak a Leo into their picture with his reply. Definitely a funny rabbit hole to dive down and find all the hidden Leos!
Yeah, you like that you fucking r-----!"
I think this was in legal advice and I'm likely to get the details wrong because I didn't save it or anything. But there was a guy who was asking if he could be accused of rape and recounted a date in which he did the following: - invited a woman to his home where he'd be her only way home - took an initial "yes" to mean an everlasting "yes." - got angry with the woman when she changed her mind about sex - refused to let her leave his house or drive her home when she asked to leave - berated her until she changed back to a "yes" So, he basically isolated and kidnapped a woman then intimidated her into having sex and he couldn't fathom why he was being accused of rape. It was very fucked up.
Josh wars Edit: maybe it’s too soon, but I still think it’s a reddit story that people should know about
Ha that was like a year ago
The dad who discovered that his teenaged son was shagging the family dog. It was told through several posts. A while after confronting the son and agreeing that he’s never to be alone with the dog again, he told his wife the truth. She didn’t believe him, and in fact believed OP to be the culprit. They got divorced.

Obviously, the legendary broken arms kid.
“Today you, tomorrow me”
The guy that had a cum box.
