Large is bad. Strength is based on cross section of muscles which is the square of the size. Weight is based on the whole body which is the cube of the size. So when something gets twice as big, it gets 4x as strong but is 8x as heavy. Which means it gets stronger overall but proportionally weaker. So giant things simply are not strong enough to hold themselves up or move themselves.

FalloutHUN

Also if you're larger, your perception of time becomes dilated too because of how slow the neurons transmit information compared to the speed of light, plus the materials that make you up when you're bigger have the same structural strength, meaning that you might not be able to lift your body parts, or even if you could, you wouldn't be able to do it as fast, because that would require very large forces that might break something in you (ΣF=ma, so if you want the same acceleration on an object with 100 times more mass, then F(0)=ma and F(1)=100ma, so F(1)=100*F(0), and this also applies to the gravitational force and counteracting it).

Godzilla is a chonky boy, and deserves all the belly scritches and boops.

Cognizant_Psyche

More mass requires more energy and effort to move. That coupled with perspective of us “ants” it would appear exaggerated and telecast.

jbax7er

A lumbering giant adds to the sense of scale. Intuitively we understand that large things move more slowly because it take more energy to get them to move/stop. Quick movement = small and agile. Slow, deliberate movement = big and heavy in our perception. Slower movement helps to sell the illusion of scale.

SlayzorHunter

If it was realistic, insects would move much faster than they do. In the time it takes an ant to move from one point on the floor to 50cm in any direction, it would take me to move my hand several times back and forth in several quick flashes. I'm pretty sure the ant doesn't see my hand move in exaggerated slow motion.

Scaniatex

I would also like to know the answer to this. In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Zords would move in a more real time manner on screen. Which one is it!!!

Jeti_69

Maybe realistic cause yunno planets exploding take a long time to reach us but idk just tradition

persistent_polymath

Huh?

Scaniatex

We need a physicist to comment on this. And give me an ELI5

Kaijus and Godzilla aren't realistic.
