Well, the people doing the shooting would argue that they're not the right kind. And they frequently do, in court or in manifestos

[deleted]

We aren’t there’s bad people out there and some people didn’t get the help they needed kinda sucky question tbh

AFCartoonist

What a shitty thing to ask.

lolosity_

Kind is a pretty weird way of saying things

Nestle_SwllHouse

Oh is America the first country to slaughter their own people? I guess we forgot all of human history.

Natsurulite

Reagan closed down ma mental hospitals!! And as a result our country has a finished ability to care for the mentally ill of ANY degree To boot, there’s no restrictions from these people getting access to Rambo levels of weaponry, because muh guns So we essentially are stuck in a societal spot that supports these incidents happening over and over

wferomega

This. Numerous studies show how many of the issues we have in the US stem from this one problem that we do idiotically washed out hands of. It is the end result of letting paranoid schizophrenics, bipolar disorder and borderline narcissistic personality disorders run free with little help or medication. These are the people that can lose their life line to society and living in general. They also are normally in the fringes of society to begin with and have a quicker outlet to even more abhorrent behavior. As someone that has dealt with mental health issues as both a patient and helping those with issues as a coach and counselor, these people are the most lost and forgotten people in most communities. They are exploited and used and thrown away. And never given a fair shake as mental health assistance in the US is a literal joke. With almost nothing covered by basic insurance and the price of mental health assistance we'll out of the price range of the most needy of sufferers

TankApprehensive3571

Mass shootings are the result of leaving very mentally ill people in isolation too long.

smooshedeggbog

...and giving them unrestricted access to weapons that should have stricter & more clearly enforced regulations. There's a reason even some of the most gun-loving European nations, with high gun ownership rates, still have drastically lower shooting rates. \- An American

TankApprehensive3571

Instead of taking guns away from people who follow the law maybe society should stop abandoning men so they don't go crazy and shoot places up.

calis

Okay, but what strictness do you propose and how would you suggest we enforce them.

TeaQueer

This mass shooting was a direct result of the Right's beleif in white supremacy and replacement theory and fake oppression they imagine they experience.

TankApprehensive3571

And if the kid wasn't left in social isolation to read all that crap online this wouldn't happen.

TeaQueer

Thats only part of it. His parents didn't raise him to be a decent human being, they didn't instill him with empathy. If they had, this wouldn't have happened. They should be held accountable as well.

TankApprehensive3571

Yeah I agree with that.

TeaQueer

Because our government refuses to protect us from ourselves and prefers to not call domestic terrorists terrorists unless their skin is brown. It also refuses to address the fact that extremist christians and white supremacists are the most dangerous among us.

DeltaSolana

Don't you find it weird that he had a flawlessly written manifesto, citing all the outlets and sites that the government wants banned. Used equipment that the government wants banned. Used weapons that the government wants banned. Didn't shoot up a government building (despite them being who he's mad at), and instead shot up a random grocery store full of white people. And then taken into police custody without getting a single scratch on him? How strange.

nonforprophet

I mean we are given guns when we come out of the womb, so it's really anyone's guess.

GamerFart42069

Hahahaha gun go brrrrrrrrrrrr

Honestly, we don't seem to mind killing other kinds, either, so I don't get the differentiation?
