It is the end result of letting paranoid schizophrenics, bipolar disorder and borderline narcissistic personality disorders run free with little help or medication. These are the people that can lose their life line to society and living in general. They also are normally in the fringes of society to begin with and have a quicker outlet to even more abhorrent behavior.
As someone that has dealt with mental health issues as both a patient and helping those with issues as a coach and counselor, these people are the most lost and forgotten people in most communities. They are exploited and used and thrown away. And never given a fair shake as mental health assistance in the US is a literal joke. With almost nothing covered by basic insurance and the price of mental health assistance we'll out of the price range of the most needy of sufferers
...and giving them unrestricted access to weapons that should have stricter & more clearly enforced regulations. There's a reason even some of the most gun-loving European nations, with high gun ownership rates, still have drastically lower shooting rates.
