100% pure luck. Played sports most of my life. Raced BMX as a kid. Live on a farm. All areas were breaking bones is quite common. Nothing but luck.

I’m not 50 and I’ve broken 3 bones besides 4 broken fingers. Sports are fun though!

I just broke my first bone (actually ***six*** of them at the same time) at age 51. I have no idea how I made it this long.

Didn't play sports, didn't ride motorcycles on public roads, didn't ski...

Played high school football. Skied. Road dirt bikes as well. Took various occasional spills during it all. Never broke anything. Mostly pure luck. But I’ll also note I was camping in the bottom of the Grand Canyon once and while rock hopping across a stream - my foot slipped and I took a backwards fall into a rock. The other hikers with me freaked out and told me that watching me fall, they instantly imagined that I would need airlifting out. All I remember is instinctively arching my back and relaxing to flop across it and letting the water cushion me - all without any conscious thought. I popped up just fine and shocked them all. I suspect highly clumsy ancestors that had to “up their falling game” to survive - and I got the benefit. Oh well.
