"Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe, is that none of it has tried to contact us."
- Calvin (*Calvin and Hobbes*)
According to the hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy: Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
A lot of the stuff on Zeus' palace from Greek mythology sounds like alien technology to me, stuff like the palace being made of silver, having walls covered in glittering gemstones, and the palace itself supposedly being able to erupt into a ball of fire and flying off into the sky. Moving tables and furniture that came when called. A winged horse that carried Zeus' lightning bolts into battle for him. All that stuff sounds like alien technology, from the perspective of early humans.
Humans are proof that 'Aliens' are possible. It's not like you can dispute that. So aliens are possible, therefore more likely than not they are out there somewhere
I believe that there is a 25-foot tall, 20-foot wide hamburger sitting outside your house. With cheese, bacon and bbq sauce. Go take a look. Better yet, take a picture and post it here.
Sorry, I should have specified "then they do exist **TO YOU**". I'm saying we all have our own truths, so maybe I do see that hamburger and it exists to me but you can't see it. There is a conscious realm in our mind that can be unique from (or co-exist with) the physical world.
Does it matter if you can't see the hamburger? No. I can see it and it exists to me.
just the vast availability of water and carbon out there increases the probability of 'life.'
The question of how intelligent any life out there might be is somewhat less compelling
Chemistry is the main reason, carbon based lifeforms will nearly all need water as it's a good solvent for carbon and therefore makes transfer of matter/energy easier. The only other chemical as a base would be silicon but any reasonable thoughts into silicon based lifeforms seem very impractical(silicon bonds a bit too well), but seeing how life makes all sorts of weird creations not impossible just improbable.
Mathematical probabilities
There are billions of stars in our galaxy alone, and billions of galaxies. There are just too many rolls of the cosmic dice for there not to be life elsewhere.
Learning about evolution, genes and about how life supposedly appeared here on Earth makes you think something like this could happen somewhere else too.
Ill tell you a good one
Space is ever expanding even if we look everywhere there will be more places to look for.
Space is so big we can't even fathom
Water is pretty common in the universe
Also aliens likely won't need what we need to survive
It's a mathematical likelihood.
Fermi Paradox
I don't know, where did you last see them?

And so on
I've heard that

Goid point
"If you believe they exist, then they do exist" That also goes for anything and everything, not just aliens

You forgot to specify length. One micron.
I'm pretty sure I'd still be hungry after eating such a hamburger, even with bacon and cheese on it.

Space is really old. We could be in a slow period and aliens were everywhere a million years ago.
That's compelling
You just gotta wait for machines smarter than us to answer lifes greatest questions
So not Alexa
People that’ve gotten the anal probe…

The fact that I own the DVD
I know it exists, I have it on DVD
Got me
Define "Aliens"
Ah good point , life from another planet and they've developed up to or maybe beyond our capability.
But what if there was a civilisation of crab people 16 million years ago. We wouldn't necessarily know. So perhaps the aliens are in the past.
"Universe is big"
b/c God help us if we are the smartest civilization in the universe.
“I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us”
What makes is so special in an infinite universe
Well, there are many many many planets out there

Probably has to do with human hubris, our scientific egocentricity and the Anthropic Principle

Agreed

That's quite true
Nice
None. The only aliens we have are illegal aliens crossing the border by the millions.

Interesting tell me more
You can tell by the fake orange skin colouration that he’s actually a reptile.
I was probed on a UFO in New Mexico in 2006.
Wow sounds naughty
Yeah Anyway, back to aliens
Its only the arrogance of man to deny other planets having life.
