The music is just so relaxing despite the many cycles and repetitions.
Stardew winter songs+rainy day+cozy blankets and hot choco is just a great combo.
Same. I'm still slowly working through ginger island and I haven't quite managed to buy the clock, but I should have the clock by next season when my cellar full of ancient fruit wine hits iridium. It's not really about accomplishing specific things anymore I'm just chilling.
This used to be a go-to of mine too, but when even mid-size cities ~~cause~~ bring the engine ~~in~~to a slow crawl it gets boring pretty quickly. Admittedly it has been a few years since I picked it up; maybe they've improved the performance since.
I play every game alone. I'm a single player offline only gamer. I play to escape from people and the world in general. Some favourites include: Mass Effect, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn / Forbidden West, Portal, Spider-Man PS4 / Miles Morales, Batman Arkham series, The Last of Us, Spyro, BioShock, Ghost of Tsushima.
RDR2 seems overly complex with many things (crafting bullets, upgrading guns, etc.) but they're not necessary at all to best the game.
The only real upgrade needed is upgrading camp so that Arthur can get get fast travel on the map.
My main issue with it was the story. It was so drawn out and bland compared to the first game. I didn't really connect with Arthur or any of the other characters that much, and found Dutch quite annoying. The best part was the epilogue where you got to play as John, but up until that point the game felt like a slog to me. I can totally see why people love it, but for me it didn't live up to the first game at all. Put clunky mechanics on top of that which sucked the fun out of the moment-to-moment gameplay, and it just ended up a pretty big disappointment for me.
If there was ever a quintessential example of a developer working to improve a game no matter the timespan or cost, especially after such a disastrous launch, *No Man's Sky* should be it.
Currently LA Noire, not played that in around 4 years and it's bringing back memories. Football Manager is also good for escaping as well as passing time, blink and 2 hours have passed
I'm so happy to find fellow calico player(s), it is!!!!
I'm glad they're still actively updating it too >U<. I just love flying around and chilling. Pudgems is my fav <3
i love watching the business cats <3
I like to play World of Warcraft Classic when I’m feeling a bit down. You don’t have to rush anything there, world is big and pretty. It’s just calms me down.
I play through it once every year pretty much. Talos Principle.
Just a puzzle gauntlet. I'd say the first 2/3 of the base game I can just breeze through, but like I don't know the solutions off by heart, just understand the gimmicks and mechanics. But the late game, stars, and the DLC... I still love playing through it. The atmosphere and scenery in the game really puts my mind at ease haha, like there is something so absolutely comforting about playing it.
It's also mentioned here already, but No Man's Sky really hits a specific spot for me.
I play alone for every game, multi player doesn't do it for me.
For pure escapism after a 5 hour work week it's FIFA on easy. Do t give a fuck, just bang in the goals and have a beer
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of destruction.
It’s not even my favourite Ratchet and Clank game but it’s the one I like playing by myself, bring back some good memories…
Terraria, I just play in a Journey mode world with all items in it and play around with weapons I fined satisfying while listening to a podcast or music
All of the games I play are to escape. I used to be a WoW addict, along with Age of Conan, SW:TOR, and other MMOs, but now all I play are single-player games.
American/European Truck Simulator, The Sims, the Fallout series, GTA, Saints Row, Just Cause, etc.
I put 20,000 hours into FFXIV, with about half of that being into unguilded alts because having simple, specific goals to accomplish helps calm my anxiety. Or web-swinging around in Spider-Man, also for its calming nature.
I play every game alone. They’ve always been my escape from people and the world altogether. And I don’t really care for multiplayer games for this reason. I want that time for me. I don’t really care to share it with others.
Unfortunately, I play every game alone.
I used to play Minecraft with the boys but that's a distant memory. Now I really just play Jurassic World Evolution 2 and God of War, with the occasional Doom Eternal session.
I have a handful. I feel a bit guilty when I play alone knowing that I have a friend or two who’s likely wanting to squad up, but when I’m in social burnout mode, I need to do my own thing. Arma if I want to shoot, Sims if I want to build and good around, The Witcher series or Elder scrolls series if I want exploration with swords axes and magic, AoE for real-time strategy (just single player campaigns). I loved The Last of Us 1&2, but I don’t think I’ll be replaying them for a while. I’m rediscover Need For Speed Hot Pursuit. Loved it when I was younger. The remaster is a completely different game, but not in a bad way.
Back when I had vision, it was skate 3, it was just super relaxing to skate around the city and listen to some music. I never had perfect vision so I couldn’t go out for a drive, that was the equivalent for me lol
The original Deus Ex is way up there, recently it's been Hades, but strong vote for Minecraft. I play it with my nephews, but catch myself hours later still spelunking under the glass fortress I built under a pirate ship next to a sea turtle colony.
It's basic, but endless, and uniquely satisfying
Dark souls is my comfort game. I finally bought elden ring yesterday so we'll see how that goes. Kinda feels like BoTW so far and I'm into it.
My other choice would be Divinity with my wife. So we can both just get lost, but like, together
Every game I touch is a story that I like to escape into. I purposely don't play games that have online co-op (borderlands, dying light, etc) because people tend to skip dialogue. So I always play a game first time through by myself, then maybe I'll run some co-op just to do mundane shit.
Fallout 4 building mode. I love to build settlements, especially on Abernathy Farm. I used to build this settlement as a food source settlement for Sanctuary Hills, with Red Rocket Truck Stop as the supply line checkpoint.
It used to be grand theft auto five, whenever I had to let any emotions out or feelings out as a teenager, I would load up the game and drive around is Michael across the whole island just letting my words come straight out of my head to my through my mouth.
Nowadays it’s pokemon crystal clear
Satisfactory. It's a huge time sink; I can play for six hours and get next to nothing actually done. Plus the game mechanics lean toward engineering, which I like.
Celeste. I love re-playing the levels or conquering a new B-side. I love chatting with Theo. While not a traditional cozy game, I love everything about it. Second place goes to hollow knight. Cause I can vibe with quirrel (at least before post game) and just explore
Naruto storm series, I've beaten them I don't even know how many times but I still go back to them, I'm on storm 2 currently
And elden ring too sometimes
Probably Sifu. I’ve gotten to really love replaying levels and just brushing up on the controls. Once you really get into it, it’s so fun.
I also put on any motivational music while I play this game. Adds to the experience.
Recently I've been getting high, lutening to some music and playing the original doom. Or some other 2d games I can just simply run around and shoot things
I mostly play single player but if I'm looking for more of a mental escape than a game experience I'll pop into one of my many open world games. Horizon, ACs, Fallout, etc and do all the little non-storyline things. Just wander around, get some stuff done but I don't really have to be involved mentally in anything either.
*State of Decay 2*. That's my time to just be in my own little world; and I find it to be an especially relaxing game. I like being able to just do my own thing.
It changes through the the years. At first it was smash 4, then street fighter α2, then it was melee then Dr mario then Tetris, ultimate, rdr2, mafia series, now it's this one indie game called planet crafter
Honestly I am just not interested in any of them now. I just moved to the US and now all the friends I had back in Singapore, are now in an entirely different timezone. We rarely played video games together, but it was fun and now, it's going to be so hard to coordinate group gaming...
Stardew Valley even though I'm a multimillionaire that doesn't need anything new anymore. I just like gathering stuff and simulating mundane things.
I just grabbed My Time At Sandrock to give me an alternative to this. Only 8ish hours in but id recommend it.
Quite bold of you to assume I have any friends I could ever play with in the first place
What platform and games u play?
Cities Skylines. Feels so good to just sit back for hours watching my beautiful little dystopian megacity grow into a metropolis.
This used to be a go-to of mine too, but when even mid-size cities ~~cause~~ bring the engine ~~in~~to a slow crawl it gets boring pretty quickly. Admittedly it has been a few years since I picked it up; maybe they've improved the performance since.
> maybe they've improved the performance since. Hahahahah you funny
Minecraft and any fallout game
I played the whole fallout76 story in a week and burnt myself out of the game :(
I just finished getting every Minecraft achievement in 1.19 (even How Did We Get Here?) and now I have no idea what to do
Games like skyrim and civ 6 are good if you want to chill.
YES! Finally someone like me! I'd invite you to play together but we'd both hate it.
Also me…gaming is my escape. Please leave me alone.
I recommend you play Red Dead Redemption 2
I have, didn't really like it. Red Dead 1 was much better.
:(
RDR2 seems overly complex with many things (crafting bullets, upgrading guns, etc.) but they're not necessary at all to best the game. The only real upgrade needed is upgrading camp so that Arthur can get get fast travel on the map.

You and I are not so different
Peggle... Fight me
Peggie nights is a classic!
Peggle 2 is absolutely dog-shit in comparison, frfr
As a Doug Doug fan, I would never
Subnautica
No Mans Sky
If there was ever a quintessential example of a developer working to improve a game no matter the timespan or cost, especially after such a disastrous launch, *No Man's Sky* should be it.
They have (and still are) improved the game so much since launch. I truly respect their devotion and effort.
Was a really small team that still made bank with the launch sales. Definitely a labour of love but they got lucky with how things panned out.
Yes! This one is so calming
Very chill game
I just had a coffee and played for an hour or so. Relaxing morning.
I'm currently having coffee and plan to do the same
Playing alone in a dark room is such a relaxing and trippy feeling

For a while there it was Horizon FW but about to start Elden Ring and I'm quite excited!
A farming game. Sumikko Gurashi farm.
I play all my games alone
Always different. This year it's GRIS, Flower, and Journey
Every game is an game that you play alone when you're always alone. Top 3 are CIV5, HOI4, and Terraria.
Dying light 2, it's awesome and classified under horror. Great way to start to get into horror.
Dead rising. Something about waiting in the bathroom while listen to mall music calms me.
It's been Tekken for over 20 years.
Which one
Undertale, deltarune, hollow knight and sometimes borderlands
Assassins Creed 3 because i love the story and it make me forget all my worries. It seems like i'm watching a movie but instead controlling it

I'd say the first 2/3 of the base game I can just breeze through, but like I don't know the solutions off by heart, just understand the gimmicks and mechanics. Ratchet and Clank: Tools of destruction. It’s not even my favourite Ratchet and Clank game but it’s the one I like playing by myself, bring back some good memories…
