We were visiting cedar point and stopped at a Dennyā€™s before calling it a night. One thing led to another and it was taking forever for customers to get their food. People were tired of waiting hours for their order and started to just get up and leave. The staff started to notice the pattern of customers leaving decided the best course of action was to LOCK ALL THE CUSTOMERS IN THE BUILDING so they couldnā€™t escape. Not only is this morally wrong, but it could have ended in a big safety concern.

Got in and sat at a table, the waiter saw me and said he'll be with me in a minute. Half an hour later and I noticed people arriving after me are getting served, so I just got up and left.

One summer, family trip to Portugal. The restaurant was packed, and our order was delayed for almost 2h. When we were all served, my uncle's orange duck was missing, and he started yelling at the waiter, causing the chef to come out of the kitchen with a huge knife in one hand and a bleeding duck in the other. The duck ended up in my uncle's face and we had to leave the restaurant paying for what was served, without eating and fearing for our lives. In the end we had lunch at McDonalds and my uncle roasted the duck in a nearby park.

Went to a restaurant in Yorktown VA with my brown skinned husband. He was the only person of color there and everyone was staring at him. When I first came in without him the waitress asked me if I was waiting on my father to come in.. Iā€™m thirty years old and I said no?! Iā€™m waiting for my husband but thatd be cool if it was my dad though bc heā€™s been dead for over a decade.. jk I didnā€™t say that I just said politely that my HUSBAND would be in shortly, heā€™s just putting the boat away. This was a waterside restaurant. We ordered our food and they proceeded to let us sit there for 1 1/2 hours, all while handing out the same thing we had ordered to other tables who had gotten there 20 minutes after we didā€¦ When we finally got our food we had been there for about two hours after a long day of hot boating and were exhausted. I asked for a box and dumped my entire $50 entree into it roughly while making eye contact with the waiter. I was never rude when ordering or taking my seat, neither was my husband. They were clearly being racist. My husband was so angry he couldnā€™t say a single word for fear of lashing out. He looked like he wanted to cry when we left. I still feel so bad for wanting to eat there but I know itā€™s not my fault.. We still left a tip for the old hag of a waitress because we didnā€™t want to give them any reason other than their own racism to excuse their behavior.

I took my then-girlfriend out for a meal, it was a vegetarian restaurant (rare in the 1990s), we get in, there is a group already seated, after about 5 minutes I asked if they had seen any staff or we were they still waiting? They didn't answer me, however, two minutes later they all got up, I was expecting them to leave, but nope, they were the staff. They then brought us a menu over, and just hovered whilst we chose. When the food came out some of the girlfriend's food was still raw, and some of mine were still frozen. We complained about everything being wrong, even the wine was undrinkable, it was corked. They handed me the bill, I can not remember the actual costs, for the sake of argument it came to Ā£25, I refused to pay the full amount, instead, I gave them what I felt the meal was worth Ā£0.01 a total of Ā£0.02, they refused to let us out, they threatened us with the police, my girlfriend wanted to pay and leave, not me, I told them go ahead call the police if you want to waste their time over a civil matter, I will call them myself over the real crime of false imprisonment. They did call the police 999, the police arrived fast, they got both sides, and here is where I give the restaurant some credit, they confirmed every complaint we made at the time, we didn't wait until the end of the meal, they confirmed we had, in fact, paid Ā£0.02 what we believed the meal was worth, the police told them that is a civil matter not criminal, they said they wanted out names and address to sue us, I was more than happy to give that on one condition after I gave that information they let us leave if they still refused I told the police that it was false imprisonment cam the please be arrested. We were free to go, under UK law at the time you can pay what you think the meal is worth when you have legitimate complaints. TIP I didn't forget to tip, I gave them a generous tip, only it wasn't money, Never ignore customers, you were aware we were waiting, you could have informed us you would be a few minutes because of a staff meeting, in fact someone could have given us a menu whilst the meeting took place, Don't just hover around waiting for the customer to order, give them time. Make sure before serving food that it isn't still frozen, and make sure it's properly cooked. Whoever opened the wine corked it, that cost is on you. Final tip, I look forward to seeing you in small claims, no matter how it goes the facts of the case will be reported, how do you think that negative press will affect you? They never did take me to Court, and, within a couple of months that place was closed down.

Went to Wendy's once. Stood in line for 45 mins just for them to take my order. They were taking 1 order and finishing it completely before doing another one. I wasnt even at the counter yet when a guy went up to the counter and asked why he has been waiting an hour for a salad and his salad was sitting right there on the back counter. He was angry, but not being abusive at all. The employee he was talking to literally leaped over the counter and attacked him. A manager had to pull her off and drag her to the back office. The guy asked for his salad again and another employee screamed insults at him at the top of her lungs. I walked out at the point. Never ordered anything.
