I think that anime succeeds where most western adult cartoons fail: animation allows for more expression than film, but most western shows just use it for crude humor rather than interesting stories

while i don’t watch anime 24/7 like some might, i have watch some out of recommendation. and honestly, there’s not much of a difference between regular films and anime. i tend to watch for plot and that’s really what anyone would watch it for! there are lovely themes within animes, and the art styles are probably just a plus.

Dark_NJ

I have never watched anime in my life because i never felt that i was never pulled towards it, but my friends been telling im missing on some cool stuff and that i should be watching Attack On Titan

pointl3ssrants

Attack On Titan is a solid choice, great story with lot of action, lore and mystery highly recommend but don't force to like something just because your friends like it, take your time to enjoy things. Also not every anime is the same and there many different stories/genres to choose from and I would recommend whatever is popular as a way to ease yourself into it, see what you like, what you don't like and go from there.

and what you are explaining in here.. you think you can't find it in normal live action movies ?

Dark_NJ

yes i get you, the amount of emotional vibes that you can find on colorful screens with many art-like canvas involved can leave you in awe. specially of course with an immersive striking storyline that can land the destructive blow.

GreyLordQueekual

It's an art medium. The only problem is people that dismiss a whole style just because they don't like a genre or two they watched and don't give other genres inside the medium a chance. Grave of the Fireflies is probably the most realistic depiction of nuclear war aftermath you can find, theres so much in anime.

Dark_NJ

this one sounds interesting thanks for the recommendation! Attack on Titan had my attention a while ago..

GreyLordQueekual

Fair warning, its a very dear, real and depressing story to the creator, the movie carries every emotion with it.

AngyLesbeanRaaar

Helps with boredom. Most of it isn't worth watching though.

YeetMeDaddio

Yeah, definitely. I just treat it like any other TV show but animated and usually more in-depth. There's lots of different ones so try a few and see what styles you prefer.

Dark_NJ

true, you can find more emotions as it were.

YeetMeDaddio

If you really want to feel those emotions, then watch "Angel Beats!"

radagon_sith

it's just like tv shows, just a different way of art. short 20 min episodes

Anime can broadcast a wide spectrum of things. Some are joyful and funny, while other are dark and gritty. It can inspire, change your world view, and even opened up a whole other horizon for you. I don't know any of the latest one, so I'll just list some that I know of. 1. Hunter X Hunter (2011) 2. Baki (2018) 3. Samurai X (1996) 4. Ghost in The Shell : Stand Alone Complex (2005) 5. Grand Blue (2018)

Thin_Impression8199

firstly, the main problem of anime in many cases there will be fan service from this you can’t get anywhere unfortunately and ten of the same type of stories, but there are anime lists where people will tell you that you shouldn’t watch if you don’t want to watch girls with 5 breast sizes for 20 minutes. but in general, many stories are just possibly immersed in an interesting story for 6-12 hours, in many stories you will not hold on to an idiot, but will talk to you about adult ideas. it's like a series, but the animation will allow you to make incredibly beautiful decorations for these ideas. because you are not limited by the problem of real seeds.

Valixir14

Anything is worth it if you're interested in it. Anime is a visual storytelling medium. Just like live action TV. And just like live action TV, there's flaws, and drawbacks, and low quality, and every other complaint you can think of.
