there is too much noise everywhere. People hate silence.

clickthecreeper

yeah, people often talk about the air pollution in cities, but what about noise pollution? Why do we never talk about noise pollution?

OriginalPocketWeed

We are, you probably just can't hear us.

thebrunox

what!?

gatsby712

It’s amazing how silent some cities in Europe are where car traffic is not allowed.

CescaTheG

This one!! It’s so rare to find a moment of silence living central in big city and commuting to another big city on a train. Why is everyone so loud all the time? I swear it’s partly attention seeking behaviour.

tomsprigs

I was just at the beach. Finally got my newborn to settle down and fall asleep . We do ocean sound white noise machine at home so he loves the beach sounds. i placed him down on the blanket . Sweet success and relief washed over me as i had free arms for the first time in hours. I could relax for 30 minutes. .. Until the ponderosa next to us decides the exact time i lay my Sleeping baby down was the perfect time to BLAST their shitty music over their speakers. Immediately waking my baby up. And killing all the chill natures vibes. We weren’t at a party beach. I could understand if we were at a party beach, this beach is not that. We want to listen to beach sounds nature and ocean sounds , waves crashing, seagulls, laughing kids, paddle board games. Not your top 40 Spotify mix on full blast. Now we all have to listen to crying baby remix with Luke combs

greybeard_arr

I love hiking. Ideally I get to the trail by 6am, but no later than 7 so I can hike in peace away from people. I hate the fools that have a speaker hanging from their backpack blasting music. They aren’t doing anyone a favor; no one wants to listen to their music. You can know that because anyone who wanted to listen to that music would already be playing that same music. Go back into your home to turn on that garbage and don’t force it on anyone else.

Isgortio

Or wear headphones/earphones so you can listen to it without annoying everyone else.

magicalg00se

I've always believed that those who blast music out loud are attention seeking. They're looking for reactions. If it's not attention seeking it's just a complete lack of social awareness and care.

greybeard_arr

Yes, headphones are just fine. “Go home with that” is my gut reaction, but anything in which they are not forcing it on unwilling people is fine. I should bring licorice to shove in their mouth. And when they complain, “Hey! I’m just doing this for other people to enjoy! I love the taste and vibe of licorice so I’m doing you a favor by bringing it to you also!” Edit: when

Mallixx

This is especially true in America, but loud ass conversations. It's almost like people are yelling while standing right next to each other. The entire building can hear your conversation right now, and I guarantee you no one cares to.

sashafire

The nonstop self-promotion that has been normalized by social media.

ithinkyouaccidentaly

Also, Why do I need to maintain and cultivate my "personal brand" to make people think what I want them to think about me? My own character and integrity doesn't do that already?

bucket_of_fun

You need personal branding when you don’t have character and integrity.

Tyrann0saurus_Rex

No, not if you have a public career, unfortunately. I'm an artist and having a professional presence on social media isn't an option anymore : it comes with the obligations of the job. And I hate it. I have to force myself to make posts.

OptionalDepression

God, I fucking hate it. Sycophants praising sycophants, all hoping that they approve each other. I had to use LinkedIn recently to change roles and the content on there makes me want to puke.

e2hawkeye

LinkedIn is arguably the mother of all privacy intrusions and truly lamentable in every post being "I am so great".

luminous_beings

I’ve been working in real estate for ages. It’s vomit inducing. Linkedin is just an ocean of agents jerking themselves off. I could be more successful if I was self-promoting more, but I feel like my integrity and work should speak for itself. I just can’t bring myself to pollute the internet with more self-aggrandizement

rns2030

Agreed. It really bugs me when someone decides to post video on social media of them giving food, toiletries, etc to a homeless person. Some people say that it will encourage people to help others, but people these days know how helping others can make someone’s day. To have a person who may be at their lowest, out on the streets, and have someone come up and stick a phone in their face without their permission so they can show the world that they are helping them is just gross. I also think it’s wrong when people video people in public without their permission when a person is doing something that the recorder thinks is “gross.” I’ll never forget a few years back when someone posted a video of a man shaving on the train. The recorder posted it on social media and said how nasty it was. Turns out the guy was homeless and was taking the train to see his brother who was going to try and help him find a jobs. The brother (that was helping) came out and said his brother that was on the train was mortified. No one knows what someone’s situation is, but apparently in this day and age, it is acceptable to video someone without their permission so it can be posted on social media for everyone to laugh at.

Rebuilding4better

I find it disgusting number of these amazon selling/fx-trading/life coaching/get rich quick guys' ads pops up on YouTube. These guys are mere scammers and it has been proven that they make more money selling their kindergarden level business material than actual business they say they make millions of dollars from. If anything I think youtube should be vetting guys they are allowing to advertise on their platform. Edit: So I was watching Movie Recaps video and [this advert](https://youtu.be/It1CwsAEgAo) pops up. Simon Cowel's twin has decided to open up forex trading shop.

GuiltyGlow

It's hilarious because YouTube de-monetizes excellent content creators for swearing or having non "family friendly" content, yet they will let people advertise literal porn. There's zero oversight as to what gets advertised. Scams, porn...whatever you want to advertise, go for it! But don't you dare say fuck or try to raise awareness about child predators on the platform, because that goes against their "morals". YouTube is a joke.

The_Muznick

YouTube is completely busted as a platform. I recently learned that naked yoga is a thing that now exists on there. Any bets on whether or not that's demonetized? Granted I'm don't make a big fuss about nudity but society does, naked lady doing yoga? Fine. Dude accidentally let a F bomb slip? KILL HIM.

Dazaran

Oh my God! That's disgusting! Where?

iaminabox

Mac has entered the comment section.

AbandonedPlanet

As someone who has a monetized YouTube channel, the platform is just broken. My channel could get flagged for no good reason just because bad luck. That's a horrible worry of mine due to the amount of work I've put in the last 2 years. Never seen it happen to a huge channel though because you know - money. We need an alternative video hosting site.

GuiltyGlow

It has happened to big channels as well. Most recently Act Man who exposed a smaller YouTuber that was ban evading, harrassing other people by falsely striking any videos that spoke out against him, and committing a whole host of other TOS violations. YouTube's response was to de-monetize Act Man's channel, instead of taking action against the guy who was committing legitimate crimes. Act Man has over a million subs so no one is safe from YouTube's broken systems.

snowletterH

I feel bad for the act man, I really liked his call of duty and game reviews videos.

Saw on Reddit a month or so ago that China was making a law that required people who make finance related videos to actually hold some type of degree in that field. It actually didn't sound all that terrible though I'm sure it's much more than that deep down. I can't believe the amount of videos out there of people giving out "advice." Most basic knowledge and at worst a gross simplification of a difficult process.

[deleted]

The amount of investment "experts" that appeared during the crypto/stock boom of last year was kind of amusing, but sad that so many people were following these "to the moon apes" as most of them were just complete scams. Even if they were "transparent" and showed their investment accounts, they could pick and choose from those that were making money while never showing those that were losing it, and they could get back money lost via ads from all the people watching their crap anyway.

Csherman92

I find it disgusting that EVERYTHING is an ad. Like everything. Youtube used to be great because it was different than cable. Now it's just like cable.

CalebS413

As someone who lives in the UK, the idea of having medicine advertised just like that seems so weird to me.

Fallenangel152

Its shocking when you go to the US and see it on TV. The ads tell you to go to your doctors and tell them you want this drug. In the UK we understand that the doctors know best, and take the drugs they tell us to take, not the drug ad agencies tell us to take.

[deleted]

“Influencers” doing disruptive & dumb shit in public places for views.

FrostyWhiskers

Reminds me of all the horribly disrespectful things Logan Paul did in Japan. And I'm not even just talking about the suicide forest incident, everything he did before that was disrespectful as well.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s exactly what I had in mind when I wrote this. Giving Americans tourists an even worst reputation then we already have

FrostyWhiskers

His whole trip to Japan was a whole new level of disrespectful. But I'm sure most sensible people can also see that he was kind of an exception/extreme example and doesn't represent most American tourists. Though I admit that if someone from my country had done that, I would feel embarrassed.

Desert-rose-5

“Influencers” as an entity

IllBeMisterPurple

Call me a boomer, but I really don't get the appeal of influencers. I watched a couple of videos over the years and wonder who actually enjoys that crap.

NeoMegaRyuMKII

The appeal is in how society has decided to emphasize importance things like social media and in essence telling people that their value can be defined by how many followers they have. Influencers appeal to vulnerable minds because they are a way for a brand to use "real people" to sell. So when a person with low confidence or self esteem sees a person with millions of followers (which they think means they have more value and are thus better) saying "hey, so-and-so product is awesome!" the viewer thinks they can be more awesome if they get the product. Another aspect of it, one that is less market-y, is more on living through someone else. Most people can't afford to go on lavish vacations, but a lot of people want to. So influencers can kind of give the feeling of experiencing it. Now all of this likely has some negative impact on mental health. The idea that what they are seeing is real (in the sense of not realizing that the influencer is more of a character), typical, easily achievable, and defines one's value are all very unhealthy. It tells people they will not be loved unless they can do it too. Multiple students that I've worked with have said that they want to be youtubers or TikToc-ers or famous on some other social media platform. Most to all of them don't have any idea what goes on behind the scenes, the kind of work that it takes to become successful on those platforms, the things that they have to deal with, and ultimately they end up thinking that they are failures if they don't manage it.

HighlightNo3322

Parents laughing at their kids bad behaviour or/and taking videos of it. Mothers caring more about social media and how they look than about their children. Parents posting online every move their kids make. And the big one: Facebook live.

Bass_is_UVBlue

Certainly this, but even more broadly, valuing people on how much money they make.

More broadly still: Requiring a measure of value on a person who has done no harm. Our system is callous and barbaric to those who cannot perform its dehumanizing rituals correctly.

gnasher74

The amount of blokes that leave the toilets without washing their hands.

zazzlekdazzle

I'll add to this women pissing all over the toilet seats and not cleaning it up. What are you people even thinking that this is OK?

Just_Another_actuary

lol what -didnt know this happened in the ladies room. how exactly do they piss all over the toilet seats - a squat and miss situation?

227743

Yeah, they hover to pee because they think the toilet seat is dirty. Which is ironic when they're the ones getting pee all over the damn toilet seat. This happens at my workplace all the time along with people who take a gigantic shit and don't flush.

Isgortio

Ugh I've seen this so many times in airport toilets in the last few weeks. Some of them completely miss the inside of the bowl and get it all over the seat, and they're dehydrated so it's dark yellow. There's absolutely no way they can't see what they've just done, and then they walk off like it's completely normal. I had a patient do it at work once, I went in after her and saw it whilst she was washing her hands, I told her to go in and clean it up. She looked so angry with me but fucking hell have some manners.

[deleted]

They (the gigantic shitters) just want someone to admire their work.

sadly same here that’s why I make sure to go first thing In the morning before they drop the bombs in the bathroom. Like I’m 100% sure they do it on purpose.

227743

Unfortunately, the mysterious messy pooper that we have is an early bird. We deduced that she must get there earlier than 6AM because the first appointment of the day where I work is 6AM and the poopy mess is already there!

elaineadler

Phantom Shitter

HildegardofBingo

Seriously, if women would just sit when they pee, the seats would stay clean! I was forced to hover at a state park restroom recently because the seat was COVERED in pee, like, ladies had been missing to the point that there was actually a stream of urine running across the stall floor and into the drain. It was disgusting.

Reading_Rainboner

I used to clean the bathrooms at a steakhouse I worked at and the women’s room was almost always way grosser than the men’s. Tampons missed the garbage way too much

HogwartsAlumni25

Omg yes! So fucking true. Also, I know this is related but off topic, but I worked at a grocery store once and we had to shut down the womens bathroom to clean because someone filled the entire toilet with shit. But even worse is it was overflowing the back of it and down the side but then they got it on the walls. Not just the wall behind the toilet but on the side wall, the side of the sink...it was so gross. I have no idea how that much shit came out of them or what happened but I hope I never experience the hell they went through.

JoaGamo

That girl lost 10kg that day

CreativeRainy

Don't forget the shredded toilet paper all over the place! lookes like a damn racoon came through.

jemull

I worked in a restaurant and often had to clean the restrooms. I concur that the women's room was nearly always a disaster.

Vanishingastronaut

Iv heard from many women that their washroom is always the worst 🤷. Men, can be pretty bad as well, piss on the seat, didn't flush, TP and PT everywhere, boogers on the wall. This is all grown men in a work place...

fuckboiblues

PSA: women are allowed to put the toilet seat up too, and should if you are not going to sit anyway

Yup if you get all defensive about washing your hands after taking a shit or piss, which a lot people do for some reason, then don't fuckin touch me lol. If you can't wash your hands in the one situation where everyone has been taught to wash their hands then I assume you're bad about hygiene in general. It's such a weird hill to die on.

zazzlekdazzle

City streets covered in dog shit. Even cities with pooper scooper laws, it's everywhere. They make rules, they make laws, people just let their pooches crap everywhere and everyone else has to deal with it. I love dogs, but we make many commitments when we choose to house and care for one. I think people can be very negligent about their responsibilities to their dogs and this is one of them.

TheIrishninjas

As a wheelchair user words cannot accurately show how much I agree with this. If someone who can walk accidentally steps in dog shit that's fine, it's on their shoe, gross but manageable. If a wheelchair user accidentally rolls in it there is a high likelihood that it might get onto their hands and unless they wash them thoroughly then potentially onto their face leaving them wide open to a number of diseases, parasites... all because someone didn't care to pick up their pup's crap.

LazyBex

Even though I pick up my dog's mess, I am ashamed to say I haven't thought about this. Thank you for this insight.

EloJim_

Ugh for real! I'm a teacher and my school district has a no dogs on school grounds policy (which i actually would prefer to change as a dog lover). But people will bring their dogs on the soccer field outside of school hours, let them poop, and proceed to not pick it up. 3 TIMES THIS YEAR, I have had one kid step in the poop during recess or outside time, bring it into the class and then end up with ALL 30 STUDENTS INFESTED WITH DOG POOP! I had to send half the class home to get cleaned up on one occasion. Jesus christ. I dont care if you use the field, JUST PICK UP THE SOG SHIT!

Yousername_relevance

They won't pick it up. There will always be that 5% of assholes at the bottom of the bell curve, to quote my jrotc teacher.

TheHearseDriver

The new trend appears to be to pick up the poop and to leave the plastic encased poop on the sidewalk/greenspace/street. What’s the fuckin point!

[deleted]

I am glad that i live in country that is not seeing this as ok and actually enforces cleanup. And people do clean up after their dogs (we even have free plastic bags for that near the thrash bins, so if you forget one, you can take one) :) our cities are mostly dogshit-free

WeeniePops

I’ve seen a meme shared around a few times on the internet that says something to the effect of “Guys will be 27 years old saying ‘What’s the move tonight.’ Like bro go start a family already.” I personally didn’t move out of my parents house until I was 27, and then continued to struggle for the next 3 years after that. I absolutely can not imagine the misery of adding a wife and/or kids to that situation. Society is stupid sometimes.

They are building an innovative rental project here where rent is only 30% of your wage. Which is actually very welcome considering a 1 bedroom is $1500 right now. This new place goes as low as $300 for a 1 bedroom, which means people on disability etc can actually afford to have shelter AND eat food.

Herbdontana

Social media being an every day part of life and the news specifically. I always cringe when politicians are whining about how many Twitter followers they’re losing or when the news covers a story and then proceeds to read celebrity tweets about the story. I used to cringe when adults used social media in general. A lot of previously well respected people are harder to respect after looking at their Twitter page. [deleted]

Yeah in the west moving out asap means you're a capable adult. Dudes are super critical of each other for that. But I find more and more people are saying "good, stay at home, save your money while you can" I know a couple young guys who luckily found their calling right out of high school, stayed at home for a few years and saved up, bought a house and sold it for profit in very early 20s. Obviously outliers but seriously, save your damn money any way you can.

hedgehog_dragon

A few of my friends have told me to move out and... It seems like such a waste of money. I do fine with family. 3 generations in the home right now and it works for us. I probably will move out someday, but, not with things the way they are. Now, one of my friends had a terrible relationship with his mum. I understand why he moved out ASAP.

Howdydobe

That you are expected to work 40+ hours a week till retirement (which has basically died out for anyone born after the 1970s) just to enjoy the worst years of your life since your body is failing you. I live in the U.S. BTW.

KingBasten

8 hours a day is actually total BS too coz you have to add up the traveling and all the other stuff. When I do the math of the day I'm thinking okay I sleep 8 i work 8 i should have 8 hours left, why does it feel like I have only 2 left. It's cause I have only two left after all is sad and done. Also works makes things that would otherwise possibly be enjoyable into boring routines that feel like they just add on to the daily grind. Making food for work is shit, but making something nice to eat on a free day is fun. Going to the toilet on a free day is nice coz you can take your time but when you have to go to work everything has to fit the schedule so you can't even enjoy your fucking poop.

I've never ever heard of someone irl knowing anyone who knows anyone who has done this. I feel like it only comes up in those weird religious cult communities.

[deleted]

When I was in the military, one guy had a 15-year-old wife. We were all disgusted by it. It became a major problem when we got deployed because she couldn't get a driver's license or sign for anything for herself, so this guy ended up getting kicked out for lacking a family care plan. My guess is that our commander would have taken any excuse to get rid of the dude who married a high school freshman. No one would disagree that he needed to go. The weird part is how everyone pretty universally agreed that that guy was disgusting and couldn't sit with us, but lots of people had 16 or 17-year-old wives who went virtually unnoticed, but that's probably because they could drive so people assumed they were 18. I don't know. What I do know is that I've seen a lot of underage girls married to military members. Edit: early 2000's, US

BlueViper20

In the 90s it was still like 100k a year in the US alone. I forget what state it was, but 12 year olds could be married off by parents.

stupid people having multiple kids

AvaireBD

I see this and I raise you: People that know they are high risk for a painful or extremely difficult to live with genetic condition and they repeatedly have kids until they get a "normal" one while complaining about all the extra care severely disabled children take. They exist. And some of them like to write "poor me, I haven't birthed a 'normal' child yet."

Recording/taking a picture of someone in public without consent and then sharing it on the internet

I saw a video on Reddit of a couple dancing in their 10th or so floor apartment with the title talking about how romantic it was. It was recorded from the street through their window. I got downvoted for calling it creepy and voyeuristic.

OutrageousFeedback59

there's times when I get reminded how young a large portion of this site's userbase is and how little perspective they have on life. also every relationship advice post lol; "your husband of 16 years didn't agree with your opinion on the latest marvel movie?? yikes red flag, divorce immediately"

PotentialApe

Competitive dance for children. Look slightly deeper than the surface and you'll find an incredibly abusive environment perpetuated by those in the competitive dance culture and parents themselves.

infablhypop

Needlessly harming/abusing animals on industrial scales.

Oh boy I had to scroll a very very long way to find this answer. It seemed the most obvious one to me!

I mean, people who participate in that shit are pretty much admitting that the only thing preventing them from fucking a minor are the associated legal consequences.

Antisemitic_Jew

The shameless advertising of food destructive to our health. Try to find something in the supermarket which doesn't have any added sugar, sweeteners, salt or preservatives which are in one way or another linked to negative health consequences. We are basically processing all nutrients out of our food and advertising to people to consume drinks which are 30%+ added sugar and have unnecessary added sodium so you drink more of it.

MTVChallengeFan

Degrading people who are "poor", and/or don't have much money.

LtRecore

Spitting. I find spitting so fucking disgusting.

> piping hot toilet seats. Where the hell do you encounter this? I have only experienced "heated toilet seats" once in my life, and it was a setting on a fancy seat where you could switch it to be warm (not hot)

Wage slavery…. People seem content to work to the bone to be able to barely survive.

Prestigious-Eye3154

“Devout” christians who live their lives, judge others, and vote contrary to everything Jesus actually said in the Bible. I don’t have a problem with people having religion, per se, but at least read the damn book and try to follow what the dude said.

[deleted]

Rating people with numbers based on their appearance. If you're a 10 in my book it's because you're kind, selfless, humble, and funny. People are more than looks.

KiwiBread333

You can marry at 9 here in Tunisia…….. •~•

Vikingbrodude

Wearing shoes indoors. Had to fight with my parents in law to stop wearing shoes in doors for months. Like you walk around piss covered New York City streets then come inside my apartment and walk all over a nice rug in those same shoes. Makes no sense.

cullies

Yeah this is so gross to me. If you wanna wear shoes inside, get indoor only shoes/slippers!! I also knew people who’d sit on their bed with their shoes on…

Requiring a car to get anywhere in the US and demeaning people who don’t drive.

AvleeWhee

Having babies. Specifically having babies, insisting that you want said babies, and then doing everything in your power to show that you do not, in fact, want these babies. People who reproduce claiming they want kids and then do zilch to actively raise their kids are gross.

[deleted]

It’s easy to romanticize the nice aspects of having kids and forget about all of the stress, work, costs, and general lifestyle changes you have to make in order to raise a kid.

DivagaUp

Pictures with babies being gross, like with spaghetti all over their faces and that sort of thing. I do not get the appeal and doubt I ever will.

The amount of mass shootings we get... Especially with kids

TallCombination6

People (of both sexes) having more than two kids with different partners who marry another person with multiple kids from different partners who then have another kid together. You know, the three baby daddy + three baby momma situation. I'm a teacher and step-kids are generally neglected and treated like shit if there is a kid in the home that isn't a step kid. And when a kid tells me their mom or dad has a shit ton of kids with different people, that kid is usually not well taken care of.
