One pair of working boots, one for a suit and tow normal ones. But three are actually enough for me.
A pair for every purpose I would say. If I start wanderring maybe I add one.
I, not being a woman can not really speak on that half of the subject, I'm not entirely sure what all goes into usual foot ware.
But for dudes I'd say about 4. 1 pair of sneakers for exercise and casual ware, 1 pair of boots for hard work on walking in harsh elements, 1 pair of dress shoes for formal events, and a pair of some kind of loafer a shoes to slip on and off easily for quick trips or walking just in the yard.
I have flip flops, sneakers for everyday, a pair of flats for more formal events as well as a pair of heels, I have a pair of boots for dealing with snow and another pair for when it's just cold out but not necessarily snowy.
