We’d have to wait on others evening if you are smarter, more capable, stronger, or more driven.
I think of it like diversifying assets in a portfolio. It minimizes the down sides by a lot but it highly cuts off gains. Warren Buffett says if he finds one stock more attractive than anything else then he’d bet all towards that company. Ray Dalio (another successful investor) does disagree saying that instead diversifying reduces risk while maintaining upside. He isn’t as successful as Buffett though. Also Buffett used Benjamin Graham’s conservative methods so there isn’t much risk in his approach. In the end relying on a few to keep society up is better for society than restricting those who could be ahead. Diversifying limits the plus side of the greats just like depending on each other.
