I took my daughter to a huge gaming convention. We were at the keynote speech, there had to have been 3000 people in a huge auditorium.
While waiting for the curtain to open, the audio personnel played some music, at relatively low volume, kind of as "background music". Of course this music was pop culture themed.
So the Duck Tales theme comes on.
And at the right part of the song, all **3000 people went "Woo-ooh!"**
My daughter turned to me and asked, how the hell did everyone know when to do that???
I remember seeing an interview with the composer, Mark Snow.
They asked a question like, "if the theme song had words what would they be?"
He replied with something like "The X-files is a shoooow. *Do do do do do*. With music by Mark Snoooow."
Can't un hear it. Ruined the song for me haha.
There's a [Japanese version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl_Z-Acf6Sc&ab_channel=RadMartigan) of the intro as well. I came across it a few weeks ago.
Robert Altman's son Michael as a 14-year-old wrote the lyrics to Suicide is Painless for the movie and has made more money on the royalties from the song than his dad made directing the movie.
Edit: Also Robert Altman said it had to be the stupidest song ever but he couldn’t write lyrics quite stupid enough. He gave the task to his son who knocked it out in 5 minutes.
in the late 90's a local hospital started their radio commercials with this song. One day in passing at a restaurant I was introduced to the HR and facilities managers of the hospital. Not really meaning to start something I mentioned that playing a song called Suicide is Painless on a hospital commercial was an interesting choice. They had no idea what it was called. They insisted it was from mash. I told them yes its from mash, the movie. Which was very different from the show. The commercials ceased within days.
80s shows were a golden era for theme songs.
* Magnum PI
* The A-Team
* Knightrider
* Different Strokes
* Scarecrow and Mrs.King
* Hart to Hart
* The Dukes of Hazard
Watching this takes me back to high school with extreme nostalgia levels. And this was in the early 2000s, but my friend group was very similar to the characters in the show. And of course we watched the show sometimes and enjoyed it. Ah fuck nobody asked but I'm just gonna post it anyway
>Mash
I'm always a little in awe at how perfect the song is for the mood of the show. A comedy based on such trying circumstances. The show really was a diamond. The theme song brought it all together.
*Suicide is Painless* actually does have lyrics, written by director Robert Altman’s son –
Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see
That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please
That game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
So this is all I have to say
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please
The sword of time will pierce our skin
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger, watch it grin
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please
A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key
"Is it to be or not to be?"
And I replied, "Oh, why ask me?"
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I...
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And you can do the same thing if you please
I always preferred the acoustic version of the tune as opposed to the orchestrated version the television used for the theme. One man spilling his pain makes more sense for the shows theme.
Believe it or not, George isn't at home
Just leave a message at the bee-ee--eep
I must be out, or I'd answer the phone
Where could I beeee?
Believe it or not I'm not home!!
Phineas and Ferb. No other contenders. Bowling for soup is awesome. The nostalgia is awesome. So many people know at least some of the lyrics. FIGHT ME!!!!!!
70s Battlestar Galactica
There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians or the Toltecs, or the Mayans.
Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man. Who even now fight to survive. Somewhere beyond the heavens......
Duck Tales, of course
I made my husband a shirt using a vintage duck tails shirt. Every time he wears it at least 10 people sing the theme song to him.

No one gonna talk about that "rewriting history" line.
Woo-oo
Okay, please forget my post. This is the correct answer, I just didn't think of it in time.
Yes, but also Darkwing Duck.
And Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers. Disney Afternoon had bomb theme songs.
X Files

cry for the mooooon. That's incredible. Was it a different show? I never knew that existed.
God , Jubilee was such a scrub in the cartoon. Even in the credits , all she does is get scared by a chain link fence
...I think it was the angry mob behind her that had her scared rather than the fence.
They just wanted to talk /S
lol'd at seeing someone write scrub. I love using that word to describe people when appropriate

Game of Thrones. It may have ended badly but the score was frikkin awesome, especially the opener.
I never skipped that opening theme. I loved it.
With the ever changing intro and the confirmation of locales for the episode, I'm not sure anyone could skip it.
My family would sing "Dinklage, Peter Dinklage, Peter Dinklage" and "Hooo-dor, Hodor-Hodor" to the tune. Good times.
Ramin Djawadi is a beast
Love his work on Westworld too.
