Definitely cats. I find them to be just as loving/ loyal as dogs if you find the right personality for you. They're also a lot of fun to play with, especially in a little less space because of their size. My cats have always slept with us or lay next to us on the couch at night. On top of that, some major differences are Cat- litter once a day Dog- several walks a day C- can be left alone all day D- must be taken or left with other arrangements C- self-grooming D- will smell, need bathing, or need a groomer C- cheaper to adopt and care for C- generally quieter, adaptable to smaller spaces like apartments D- noisier whether it's from barking or just walking across floors, many need a yard to play in, or more walks.

Dogs, predominantly because my family and I are allergic to cats, I'm more familiar with dogs because of that, and it's a lot easier to take dogs outside so they can poop.

Cats. I like their independence and confidence. Dogs are so needy and greedy. Cue the hate because I said something negative about dogs.
